Hello, Sir. This is a great video. Just one little thing I wish to point out, however. In English we say: It looks like it's going to rain. In French, we say: On dirait qu'il va pleuvoir. In this context, is sort of the French equivalent of the ''it'' in English. In conclusion, I agree with you that it is sometimes clearer what pronouns are referring to in other languages. However, there is, in certain other contexts, room for ambiguity in these other languages as well
@juancarlosmorenoaldana23615 жыл бұрын
In Spanish many times we just don't use the pronoum. Example: va a llover = Is going to rain (it is going to rain). In other cases we use endings like la, lo, las, los attached to the verb. (this is because we use gender and number to conjugate, just like in French) example: muévelo = moveit (move it)

What's it? It is it. Is it just it or it could it be better without it? It's something to think about it.

Hi ! Mark ! Thank you very much for watching the useful video that refreshes my memory __ when I made the sentences before , using " it " sometimes confused me that I could use " it " or not " it " . By the way , I noticed myself that I felt as if your voice on the video had just become more familiar to me while watching the video . While posting the comment on KZbin , I just felt as if I had improved my listening skill of learning English . I hope you have a good day .

Hey Mark, how's "it" going??? (Wie geht "es" dir???) 😁 Well, "it" looks as if we use the word "it" in a rather similar fashion in German!!! At least "it" looks that way, doesn't "it"??? 😁😁😁 I learned a great new word today: ambiguous!!! Thank you!!! 😀 When I saw your latast photo on Instagram this morning, I just remembered a sentence I came across the other day. It's a quote by Doug Bartlow!!! "No matter how sophisticated the camara, the photographer is still the one that makes IT." There's no better way to express it, don't you think??? In my opinion one of the best pictures you've ever shared with us on Instagram was "Driving into the sunset" from August 8th. I love this one soooooo much!!!👍👍👍 The reflection of the setting sun on your SUV's bonnet looks incredible!!! If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were a professional photographer!!! That's photography at "it's" best!!! 👏👏👏 Enjoy your watermelon!!! OBTW: What's Alfredo sauce??? I've never heard of it before!!!😁 Have a wonderful day in Calgary!!! Take care, my friend!!!🙋♀️

Hi Doreen, so good to know that we're using "it" in our language in the same way like Mark does. So, we know the meaning of "it". Guess it's much harder for people from other countries and cultures to understand "it". Btw, I love reading all of your comments. Have a great Wednesday! 😊

Hey Mark! Actually, "it" has never got me confused or sound ambiguous to me. I have never thought what it really means, it's sort of a filler, isn't it? I'm quite used to it but thanks a lot for amazing lesson all the same! I hope you enjoyed your watermelon! Take care!

Great lesson. I really have noticed that the usage of (it) in some cases looks kind of weird, but now you clarified it well. Thanks. The other thing that confuses me is that there are some verbs could be transitive and and intransitive, for example the verb ( to move): Transitive case : I would like to move this table forward. Intransitive case: I would like to move to Vancouver.

Hi, Mark. Nice video. You always make me laugh. We, spanish speaker don't have that problem when learning English, yet that IT's a similar situation, because we don't have a noun fot those cases.

Hi Mark! It is exciting to enjoy your lesson in the open air again, though it’s a little bit cloudy. It seems like a sort of weird logic implied in this scene of the fire truck. Does it mean a very start of a sad story even a tragedy, especially in such a doleful weather? But it seems both you and the girl doing laps around the soccer field, are not the part of the drama of sorrow. Yeah, shake it out and then do whatever you like! Shake the tension out of your bodies, shake the pressure out of your minds, and shake a sort of bad mood out of the gloomy weather that very often is prone to filling your hearts with something about death and departure, just as the very fire truck might have suggested at the beginning of the video. Thank you and have a good mood!

Thanks for the word IT! Though it's a two-lettered word, it does a lot. It represents, substitutes, refers to anything or words to make the sentence simple and complete. It's like a free size SHIRT- it fits all 😀. Though it substitutes something unclear, the truth is it is clear😁 I hope my message here make sense. lol. Thanks for this lesson! Till then, you nailed IT!😜

In my country, when we talk about the weather, we don't have a subject like 'it.' Ang init! it's hot! Parang uulan. Perhaps it's gonna rain. Ang lamig! It's so cold! What I observe now in English is the omission of the subject 'I.' and some verbs. I often hear that on TV documentaries. Thank you, Mark! ♥

Chinese is even no bothering to say "it" in many cases, because we assume the listener is smart to know "it is sky or weather "we are referring, so many unnecessary parts are just saved,. English is limited by its form, requiring the subject and predicate or others, but Chinese no limits, as long as the meaning is conveyed to the people then that is good communication.
@marynastanishevska81645 жыл бұрын
When we say the same things in Ukrainian we simply omit the subject) Literally we say this: looks like going to rain, thunders... we are not so concerned about having all parts of the sentence in their places))

We were taught in the school: an English sentence must always have a noun. If there isn't, you should put in the "it" and the problem is solved. E.g. It's funny, it's sunny, it's OK. e.t.c. You can find this also in German: Es ist schön. Wie geht es dir u.s.w.
@miratulasad94615 жыл бұрын
Let's try to find it out : 'IT ' is used for 1) it= something ! Something =? (what)! ?= somebody wants to mean= whatever it is = subject 2 ) it is 1 way of talking just like there is /are 3)IT shortens A big sentence - I tried to save the dog's life but it didn't make it. Make it=survive = it didn't survive Think in a different way - It didn't make the chance for being saved - Ohh it's horrible to type something I quit

I'm not so confused to use "it" to describe something unclear and ambiguous. But in another aspect, when it applies to people, for example: "How's it going ?" or "What's up?"- it's weird for me, that these aren't real questions and don't need real answers.
