Just gonna point this out you have to have a graphics card to use the 5900x. If you don't plan to have a dedicated gpu don't buy the 5900x.

@@DXcellence718Returns I don’t think it’s a bad option don’t get me wrong but why not spend the extra couple $$ and get much more performance 5900x doesn’t even come close to the 7800x3d in gaming whole different ball game. you can def still play 1080p w a lot of fps w the 3070 - 5900 combo, 7800x3d can be paired with any higher end GPU you can afford, you can keep upgrading until your satisfied. and all new cards with be supported most likely 50 series ect.

​@theinsidescoop4513 I have no reason to change out my 5900x. Not really worth the money cause i would need a new motherboard and ram for am5. I'll hold for now and see what zen 5 is looking like. Plus i already game fine on 1440p anyways for the games i play. If anything I would rather upgrade the gpu. The 3070 is nice but 8gb of vram isn't that great. The only reason why I have it was cause I was building during the gpu shortage cause I needed a rig and I was able to snag one for msrp price.

@@Basra654 hey sorry for the late replies to all of these comments but to answer your question honestly i never did the upgrade and i kinda fell off pc gaming entirely, however i feel like just upgrading the cpu is an amazing option opposed to doing the motherboard upgrade, i have the rtx 3070 rn so i think just upgrading the cpu will better help bring out both of their performances

I got a 5900x with ASUS tuf 570 plus for 50$ but it been a headache to over clock because it bottle necks my 4070 in fortnite at 1440p but in call of duty no bottleneck so I guess it depends on games affinity to zen 3 I was a erying tiger lake cpu with 25mb of cache and 8 cores but over clocking in intel was so simple and easy with intel xtu had all cores stable at 4.7 and would never bottle neck in fortnite but call of duty warzone it would struggle
