Hi Mogonaut, I’ve been doing Hackintoshs for years and never really had any issues until getting into the vanilla setups with AMD cpus. They are quite a few plugins that do not run on the AMD Hackintosh. Waves mercury bundles a lot of plugins in the bundle does not work. Pro Tools does not work on the AMD Vanilla Mojave or Catalina. It would be great to see they can run on your built....

It will not run... the only way you can make it work is with virtualization and PCI passtrough... The only way you can have a 100% reliable AMD Hackintosh is with virtualization... The problem is some of these softwares are programmed to use instrucctions like TSX that only the Intel processors have... Like Davinci resolve you have to patched to make it work with AMD Vanilla Hackintosh because of that... right now I am testing with Qemu/KVM, with Promox and with unRAID to check what virtual machine is more easy to setup, I bought a 3950X and a 3990X, for Ryzen 3950X and lower there is patches for Vanilla Installs, but there is a lot of problems yet for performance and a lot programs don´t work or work bad, until now there is no know patches for Vanilla Installs for Threadripper TRX40 that you have to use Virtual Machines, but in the both cases the VM works nice, I tried Prootools, Cubase, Cinema, Maya, Digital Performer and with the VMs that software works good and really nice in both sockets AM4 and TRX40... with Vanilla not at all with the AM4 Ryzen... Digital Performer I could make it work in Vanilla Install when I rename the cores of the processor from CP00/CP01/CP02,etc etc to PR00/PR01/PR02... etc etc to proper CPU thread reordering as well as a iMac Pro / MacPro specific CPU thread variable naming... I am testing another patches for Vanilla, I shared all of that in Vanilla Forums... but for now I will stick to VMs for my both processor for stability and performance, and the Vanilla for testing and colaboration...

Gabriele Carbone Thank you exactly, like I stated and was no disrespect. I’ve been doing the Hackintosh thing for a while. On the Intel Hackintosh. Oh dear - my iMac (late 2013, 27"; 3.5Ghz, i7, 32GB Ram) struggles with 50 tracks - even with the I/O buffer set to 1048 samples. Very sad. It could be time to consider building a Hackintosh - especially considering the ludicrous price in Australia for the latest MacPro.

What an absolute beast of a machine you have there! btw, Queen, do you have difficulty upgrading opencore to 0.5.8?
@fabiosun114 жыл бұрын
Also 0.5.9 beta works fine. Problem with this method are others (but this is the only one available for now): 1) thunderbolt passthrough 2) some USB controllers passthrough 3) for AMD Gpu users have a weird reset bug (not so big this problem) 4) (big one imho) internal audio problem (it affects aso AM4 users). DP/HDMI audio is perfect instead above point are the "missing" things to have a perfect hackintosh with no problems at all Personally I am using a MSI TRX40 Pro with 3970x with a TitanXp and 128 GB DDR4 memory Adobe suite works as windows 64 side (no patches needed) Davincvi Resolve works perfectly (16.2.2 and older) So it is a real Hack with the most powerfull AMD CPU supported (3990x is not supported in all its core due an OSX kernel limitation)

Hello Theresa, for us musicians it is not important how many tracks you can run, but if your setup is compatible with the actual software musicians are using. The most important part for us musicians is: Do relevant vst Plugins work? (Izotope Ozone, Waves Plugins, UAD, Kontakt, ....) And does audio recording work as it should. No one is happy with 450 tracks as long as he cant use the plugins...
