#3 is key. The way I say it is “don’t compound your errors.” A cookie is just a cookie. It doesn’t matter. But psychologically once people have committed a “sin,” they feel like they’ve already crossed a line and it ends up triggering a whole series of bad choices.

it's wild that she even has to clarify it's not an eating disorder (#4). I knew so many guys who got into fitness and loved the gym in high school and no one batted an eye. As a girl her interest in strength and health at a young age is automatically questioned. we can truly never win.

How do you start eating healthy? I’m 15 and I don’t have control over the groceries and stuff like that. I also don’t have a gym, only dumbbells.

Maybe food shop with your family, save some money to buy a few healthy food to try every week. Wait till 16 and get a job and then buy your own groceries. Think about adding healthy food, not restricting anything.

I don’t have my own money yet, but I manage to eat healthy. For breakfast, I usually have a banana smoothie with just milk and banana,and healthy cereal. For lunch, I mainly eat eggs and potatoes, though I can't eat more than two eggs and one potato at the moment-I'm working on increasing the portions over time. As a snack, I enjoy nuts, sometimes with honey. For dinner, I might have rice or pasta with tuna, or simply whatever my mom makes. I focus on avoiding junk food, and for exercise, I stick to home workouts, which work well for me.

It’ll get easier as you grow up when it comes to other people - I got into health and fitness young around your age or younger and people used to comment or call me obsessed/too thin/crazy/health freak etc. but you’re right that people usually say these things because they feel insecure about their own habits. But as time goes on most of these people especially friends will also try to attain the same lifestyle once they hit their 20s, they then start to understand ❤

People will always have their own opinion. I relate to this. My family always avoids me when I eat good and workout. Once they start seeing my results, idk what happens to them but they like get mad at me or something. All I’m doing is what makes me happy and feel good. I’ve toned up, lost some weight, etc and I felt amazing and looked amazing. Then I started giving up because I felt like I had no one. Now everyone is “my friend and family again.” I’m done. I realized they are toxic and don’t want me getting anywhere because THEY can’t do that for themselves. So they want me to stay in the same boat as them. Nope nope. I can’t anymore. I have a life to live. I need to just be strong when their jealousy kicks in. I’m not the problem, they are. Can’t wait to get results again and show them I don’t care for their opinions. My happiness is important. If they don’t like me being happy because they aren’t happy, then adios to them. I don’t want toxic people.

Yesss Amelie! As someone who's a bit younger than you and who started their fitness journey around the same time as you, I look up to you so so much! Although I was very close to achieving my goals about a year into my journey, I did form some very unhealthy habits when I entered high school that I've found hard to break. Fortunately, I've regained my passion for exercise and now am working towards a healthier relationship with food, as well as trying to distance myself from an all-or-nothing mindset. I really resonated with what you said about fitness-it's a lifelong journey, not a quick fix. Realizing that suddenly made the process feel much more manageable and enjoyable! You're doing such incredible things and I hope we all continue to thrive on our fitness journeys!! ❤

Hey amelie, hi everyone:) 3 years is a long time and you made a lot of experiences. Thanks for sharing it. I think it is really important to ask oneself from time to time: What am I doing this for? How much time do I spend thinking about my bodyshape, food choices or training goals? Does it determine my whole life? How strongly is my selfworth linked to these goals? Why do I want to achieve a „perfect version of my appearance“? Parents or close friends know you best and they see you for what you really are. This is why if a loved one expresses his or her concerns about you, you should take it seriously. Im sure most people understand you better than you sometimes think.❤️

Well done advice. Remember too as a teen and even into your low 20’s, your body will change too. The habit is key for good health. For the females afraid of bulking up / getting muscle: don’t be afraid of it. Muscle/being fit looks good m or f! For girls, especially if you are in sports, leg strength is a huge help in preventing ACL / knee injuries. Start young!!! People at the gym WILL help you, m or f. Everyone there is trying to better themselves. See an excercise you want to try? Be bold and ask the person. You might just be surprised how much help and sef confidence you can gain!

just a little correction, I think this is a great video but you do not always need a calorie deficit to lose fat, I lost 30 lbs at one point without even touching your diet. Weight loss has a lot of individual variability, I had a healthy diet, the only reason I was overweight was because of my lack of exercise. No hate towards you at all, everybody says that calorie deficits are the way to go, so you can't be blamed for not having the bits of nuance that sometimes need to be there
@emmaleeeeeee
@emmaleeeeeee Жыл бұрын
I think you could have been creating a calorie deficit by exercising more (expending more calories) while keeping your calorie intake the same. Anyway, congrats on the weight loss!

I really needed this. I’ve wanted to start my fitness journey for so long because I’ve just been wanting to feel confident in myself and all that but I’ve struggled so much with this “I need to have the perfect diet” and the all or nothing mentality and all that. So hearing this from someone that really knows these things really made me realize that my fitness journey don’t have to have the “everything needs to be perfect” mentality.

all macro ratios are super unique to everyone and their goals. you need a balance of all of them. carbs give you energy. fats keep you full!! i’m not a doctor so i cannot give you exact quantities BUT just know you need them all and i talk mainly about protein because when it comes to putting on muscle it’s the most important

I completely agree there are healthier food swaps out there that help with fitness and health goals, but I am still trying to understand the impact of artificial sweeteners. Many low calories options are filled with these, I know stevia is the healthiest of them but it is still overall confusing, sugar itself isn’t bad for you in moderation but what it is paired with sometimes is, can we start a conversation about this?

See I tried to be in a caloric deficit whilst putting on muscle and it did NOT happen. I'm naturally skinny with a little curves and a high metabolism. I have extra fat sure, but I actually need to eat more to repair my muscle tears so I can add muscle. There's no point trying to get lean if theres no muscle to show there to start with. That's what I did and I got pretty damn slim on a deficit but there was no muscle to show. So build your muscle first in a slight surplus (NOT fully bulking - this was impossible for me) but enough to fuel your workouts and feed the muscle! Also do a day of cardio once a week but the rest is weight training. Once you've developed substantial muscles, then probably a slight deficit. But I hate counting calories. I eat with the 80/20 rule in mind, and eat more on my workout days, with a normal amount on rest days and a focus on protein. Thought I would share my personal experience incase this helps someone with a similar build as me. 5"5, 115 lbs

I a in 8th grade and have some health issues that could be fixed if I would workout and eat better but I don't understand some of the things that come with being healthy. This is a little scary to be writing but, I have a doctor appointment tomorrow and I know they're going to say that I need to change, and I do want to change. This may sound dumb but how do you figure out what your calorie deficit should be? I understand much of it and how to set it up, like how much protein I should eat in a day. I also don't know what types of food to eat. I have a non-alcoholic fatty liver, and my doctor didn't really explain what is healthy to eat. I know to stay away from red meat but I don't really know anything else.

Do you have any tips on recovery after working out? I love weightlifting but sometimes after day 2 of working out I get a lot of pain on my right knee and that’s when I end up skipping days on the gym because I’m like I need to rest my knee bc it’s hurting and creaking a lot (I’m 26) so I end up not getting the 3-4 workouts a week I was aiming for

actually i love doing workouts at home so therefore i do many pamela reif workouts. and i see results! but i do get a little bit frustrated that if i would go to the gym i would get so much faster results. but i have no money and i enjoy the fun "interaction" then just silently lifting in the gym

You don’t even realize how much you have inspired me and how great this advice is. I had gained a really toxic mindset with food and everything and just hearing your words that I didn’t need to be perfect, it felt like it fixed everything. I had always had a very good relationship with food up until a few months ago, I started tracking my calories and somehow along the line It just got way out of hand. somehow, I ended up making myself purge whenever I would eat something high in calories and eventually I just told myself I could not do it anymore. My throat hurts so bad and I opened up to my family and they were so sad and I didn’t want to see them like that. After that I just started binging so badly and I couldn’t exert it so I just felt like I was ruining so much progress and so I would just eat and eat and eat. And to be honest, this problem is still going on now, but just watching your video has given me so much light. When I was younger, my Gran always used to tell me to not worry about what I ate and so I always had a healthy relationship with food. I never felt like I needed to eat anything sugary or anything. In fact, I always wanted to eat healthier because we always had something sugary in our house and I didn’t feel the need to eat it, but after I got on my whole spiel, I just started craving things that I’ve never craved before. And I know my Gran is trying to help now by telling me that my body is growing into a woman, however, I know that this is not a factor like I had a real binging issue, and I knew the way I was growing was not because I was becoming a woman. It was because of my toxic mindset that I had gained with food. But now that I’ve heard your words, I feel like I can accomplish my goals without having to be in this cycle. Thank you so much.

Hey, I’m starting to lift weights just now, can you tell me how you went about it? Like did you divide days in to leg day, core day etc or did you start out with full body workouts first. I’m not really sure how to start out..
