Update: please do not buy DevaCurl anymore. Apparently they changed their formula and it’s been ruining people’s hair. I would recommend Shea Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner as an alternative! They work great and the ingredients are mostly clean. I will make an update video of my favorite hair products soon! -Amena

Hi amena, I’ve recently found that I have iron deficiency. My iron is at 7, ferritin levels are 18, and also have D3 deficiency. I have watched your anemia video, and form then to this, I see you have recovered and see a good difference in your hair, happy for you :) I am planning on getting iron infusions, and I’m starting to take blood builders.. but I have lost a lot of hair and ended up having gaps on my scalp! I just want to know once your iron gets back to normal, that hair regrows and it will be okay.. your response will help me greatly!

I am anemic - I have to get transfusions from time to time as well (recently 2 months ago), but I have issues with both my hair and nails. My hair used to be so thick and full and long and it grew back so fast. Not any more. I have to take a lot of iron...I kind of gave up on my hair, but maybe there is hope...
@AmenaandElias5 жыл бұрын
There is hope just keep going on the right track! I lost hope too because it took so long. Whenever you need transfusions that means it's a severe case so your body needs time to recover. Your hair will eventually start growing healthier and faster!

My hair was long, but I chopped it last year because it was damaged due to lots of heat. I stoped using heat and my hair is now growing naturally. What type of hair product is better for “East Africans?” I use blue magic, but sometimes my hair comes off 🙄
@AmenaandElias5 жыл бұрын
Yeah stop using Blue magic if it's making your hair come off! I think the most important thing is conditioner for east african curly hair. I use conditioner in the shower and out of the shower. After I wash my hair I put little bit of coconut oil than I put a lot of conditioner. And I leave it until it air drys. It will make your curls look nice and defined and no frizz. The product I use now is Herbal Essance conditioner. I used it when my hair was damaged and it works good and I still use it now.

How long did it take you to get back to this length? My hair is like an inch shorter than yours right now...same fine texture....but I just took my hair out of a frontal sew in....and I've been dealing with anemia off and on since I was a teen...but I stopped taking my iron months ago...I should've known....my hair came out soooooooo bad yesterday. I lost about half my volume. A few bald spots and my edges are totally thin. It's been 3 years since my big chop. So my thing is.....did you just trim the see through ends as it grows...or.....should I just cut it. I don't want to go through this again....this is the second time lol
@AmenaandElias4 жыл бұрын
Cleopatra Penny my advice is cut it! Cut all the the thin ends or damaged pieces. My hair broke off more when I kept the damage so it didn’t help at all!!! It only slowed my progress to keep the unhealthy hair. It took me 3-4 years to get to this stage. Taking iron supplements is the most important thing. Your hair won’t grow if you’re not healthy. Don’t stop until you are fully recovered from anemia!
@LucidQueen4 жыл бұрын
@@AmenaandElias update: so I went to see a trichologist. She took a look at my hair and scalp and told me it's really not as bad as she'd seen before. She said in really I probably only lost about a fourth of what I had because I still have a ton of hair on my head. She did a treatment on my scalp....like some sort of detox treatment to clear the excess debris blocking my hair follicles....and it did wonders. My hair wasn't damaged at all. It just had shed a ton. Now I'm in recovery mode and my hair has been growing in very well.
