Absolutely I think with Fiskers SUEV’s and their price point which is great with provisions on maintaining a very solid customer base, loyalty and warranties being acted upon with immediacy? I think they have a fighting chance here in the United States. They need to have the dealerships on board with Fiskers customer focused policies. Customer service and follow ups are paramount.

Fisker has a BIG chance for success, but they MUST start deliveries in their promised timeframes to the costumer. Cars on the road = more sale. Otherwise people will Lose their interest caused delayed deliveries and lack of information. Yeah, Tata bought LandRover from Ford in 2008 and still own it. It's possible they had a deal with LandRover to put them in showrooms (the Karmas). 2011 was the year they began sales of the Karma, but only sold 2000. I went to their showroom in Los Angeles (the actual Fisker showroom), I would be surprised if they had one anywhere else. Henrik Fisker is CEO of Fisker Inc., but Fisker Automotive (the failed entity) was sold to a Chinese multinational that operated under the name Karma (the Fisker sportscar's name, the only vehicle they had).

You guys in the US are unlucky. You have very limited choice in EV's or indeed any kind of car. Currently BYD, the biggest EV maker on the planet, (they sold 500,000 more cars than Tesla last year) are producing brilliant EV's much cheaper than anyone else. I am about to order an MG4 Trophy, which is in the $25K range. In a couple of years the global EV industry will be dominated by Chinese vehicles, BYD, MG, Zeekr, and a ton of others. Their technology and designs are years ahead of Tesla. But you guys do not see that. You never look beyond your own shores.

Lightyear already halted their production for being way too costly. It was the 2005 (most gorgeous and compact) AM V8 Vantage that Henrick Fisker designed w/ Ian Callum. My primary problem with switching from Tesla is using the Chargepoint network for trips. Chargepoint does not seem reliable. The Tesla network is reliable and easy to use. You just plug it in, and it works (no apps, accounts, or charging levels to worry about). Once that is fixed, I would gladly leave Tesla due to Elon Musk (who is not even a founder of Tesla).

Great review - Very impressed with the Fisker line, really like the solar roof idea, which would work great in Phoenix. Weigh and tire wear as well as tire quality is still a factor. I'm told by Discount time that the Tesla gets about 30K-35K miles on a set. Quality tires would be required due to the weigh so this part of owning could get expensive.

This all sounds and looks great, but the same concerns remain. The high price, the infrastructure to support it, the impact on electricity prices going forward, the life expectancy of the battery, the cost to replace the battery, the environmental impact of building and disposing of the batteries, will it suddenly catch on fire, etc., etc., etc. It would be great if a company would make an EV that provides performance and practicality without all the expensive and unnecessary electronic features. Just give us a Toyota Tacoma or RAV4 that's just like the recent models, except it's powered by an electric motor that can match the performance of a good V6 (torque, acceleration, payload and towing capacities, etc). Design and seal the battery so that it will never short out or catch fire. Incorporate technology that tracks how well owners maintain the battery. And, if an owner has properly maintained the battery, then replace the battery for free, if/when necessary, for at least the first 300,000 miles. If they could do this for under $40,000, then I think they would sell a LOT of them. I think they're trying to force FAR too much new technology, instead of just giving us a reasonable vehicle with a practical electric motor.

We'll never see an EV under $25,000 and that's where they need to be for a vast number of people to afford them. These EV car companies need to partner with utility companies to install more charging stations at hotels, parking lots and decks, as well as restaurants and roadside stops.

From what I have seen concerning first model years of vehicles and new generations of toyotas, I'd wait until the 2nd or 3rd year of the Toyota Stout (unless you buy a robust extended warranty to cover unforeseen problems). I have a 2017 Tacoma, it's the second model year of the 3rd gen tacomas. It has a problem that Toyota knows about (plastic coolant transfer tube on the very back of the engine that cracks and leaks), and I paid $1800 to fix it, as there was no way for a shade tree mechanic to fix it. I love this pickup, but I had no idea it had problems. I should also expect an oil leak around the timing chain cover if what everyone else is saying comes true. It won't kill the tacoma, but I cannot stand oil leaks.

I'd like to know what exactly carbon net zero actually means. It seems like companies buy & sell carbon credits to meet emission standards in the countries in which they operate. Personally I don't think it's possible to be carbon neutral or net zero. Just my opinion but who knows?
