giggles...Apparently NOT, because it has been over 150 years since the American slavery ended, und 50 years since any forms of their once racism existed, but the American africans continue to ride that irrelevant, self-important Soul Train of "Professed Racial Entitlement", und will probably do so until the end of time itself. :-) I can imagine watching the American news media in the year 2500 or 3000 to see the BLM's continued newest protesting still NOT addressing the many 1,000s of their own race killing each other every year, but instead only calling to attention the much fewer killings by another race that the BLM can conveniently use to further their own self-important, nonconstructive, und most often destructive agenda. Sorry, but NO...There ist only token support by only a few in most other countries. Such biased American news media never speak of the facts about World news. Most Americans don't even know their own history or current Social Study, much less have in-depth knowledge of World events nor what we do or don't. The fact ist good reason why most other countries don't currently, und will never support the American BLM. The BLM's obvious racist, destructive actions are quite similar to the (WP) supremacist, und "only" differ in matter of degree. Of course I'm quite sure the Americans don't need our help "eating their own young".

When they arrested Derek Chauvin, my wife asked "so do you think they'll stop protesting now?" I replied "No, they took too long and proved the protesters right: that even with video evidence, the system is so busted that it takes an angry mob to arrest a cop that murders someone in broad daylight." When they arrested the other cops that held down George Floyd, my wife asked "so do you think they'll calm down now?" I replied "Nope, they *still* took too long and used a bunch of unnecessary violence against peaceful protesters to prove nothing really changed before the arrests." At every opportunity, the police screwed up their PR. They are so used to being treated with absolute respect by everyone that doesn't already have a record that too many couldn't see the big picture. They pepper-sprayed people for yelling at them. They tear gassed people for blocking the President's walk to a photo-op. They beat cameramen for doing their job. They arrested a Black-Latino reporter on live TV without cause and ignored the white reporters at the same location. They used the union to defend two cops that busted a 75 year old man's head open with unnecessary force and walked over his body. I'm 6'1 and black and *never* thought I'd see the day where people actually cared about the fear I have to deal with every time I see a cop car despite never committing a crime. To see every state, and even other countries, protesting for our sake gave me a little bit of hope that things may change in my lifetime. Thanks to everyone for caring! 👏👏👏 EDIT: Was not expecting this to get that many likes and supportive comments (I may or may not have wiped a tear or two today 🤫), but if so many people are reading this I want to get one thing straight: My wife is black and even majored in History with a focus in African American history and went to three different HBCUs for her degrees. She understands the struggle. She just asks me questions like that to get my opinion on things as I'm a quiet guy in general and rarely volunteer it.

Right on my dude! It's crazy how we as a nation can just turn our heads towards one issue and completely look the other way on another, just because of the race it involves. These last few weeks I think really showed what the younger generation can do to elicit change in this country. It's about time we all addressed the elephant in the room, because we've always known its been there. And hopefully this will shed some real light on the cancer-like racism that is hiding within this country.

I am from Germany and since we are children we learn about the Third Reich, Hitler and the Nazis. You don't see any statues relating to that time here, it is about education and awareness. It is important to know about the history of your country, however, a statue will not do that, education will! So that argument that Confederate statues are there for history, is complete bullshit. Edit: We do have memorials for the fallen soldiers as well as Jewish people that died during the Holocaust. We also have buildings of the Nazi time that have been turned into museums to raise awareness and educate about that period in history.

You are right Statues are there to glorify the past. Not to learn from history But we at Europe have to watch out as well because we are doing the same with immigrants and refugees. I know in the Netherlands where I live young people from Morocco driving in a nice car are getting hold by the police because that car must be stolen or bought with criminal money. They are getting discriminated when applying for a job. The advice in schools is almost automatically for a lower level education. Instead off looking at the person they get categorized. So despite we do better there is still a lot off work to do

As another german here: 100% agreed. People need to know their history, and history in general to not repeat atrocities like what already happened way too many times. Also, Monuments and Statues are an appraisal at something or someone that it deemed "awestome". Thats a reason why germans dont have statues praising nazisim and the third reich, because its fucked up to immortalize this as a monument or statue...

Sure, 'educating about history' is a terrible justification for keeping a statue. However, I think that Noah was straw-manning the views of those who want to keep the statues. He should deal with the best arguments from the opposition, not the worst.

@@tankjr84 Corporate taxes really aren't a cure-all. Whilst I agree wholeheartedly that big corporations don't pay enough, I would like to redirect your attention to the Netherlands. The Netherlands was called a tax haven by the Obama administration and rightly so, for the Netherlands provides a very favourable environment for multinational corporations. However, the people of the Netherlands are some of the happiest in the world (currently in 6th according to the UN happiness index between 2017 and 2019). So whilst having better taxes in place for large companies would be great, the states are honestly better off spending a shitton less on military and police and spending more on social welfare systems(yes socialism bad I get it), education and on healthcare. Imagine if the states freed up 100 billion dollars and spend it on healthcare for all. Besides the taxes for the wealthy in the USA are simply bullshit and should be overhauled so that the rich pay a reasonable tax rate compared to what they do now. Sorry for my rant but as a European, I feel like Americans have their heads so far up their asses at a national level it's unbelievable (yes I realise its a generalisation, not everyone's a moron).

Police have often been put into poverty areas (typically where minorities live) where teens may bring dangerous weapons or drugs into the schools. As school shootings have been on the rise in the richer (white areas) some schools have police in their schools in case of a potential shooter. The problem with all of this is that it never addresses the actual issues that cause the violence, because our politicians don't want to. It's much cheaper to throw some police at a school and say they are protecting it, rather than creating restrictions on purchasing guns or putting more money and care into poverty areas. Our country is messed up, but believe me when I say there are people who want things to change want things to be better.

Guten Tag. I am glad and so thankful to hear that they all have been removed. With that said, the tragedy is that Swastikas are very sacred in Hinduism, an auspicious symbol that essentially means that Divine Spirit will protect us in all directions. To this day, we draw the original, authentic Hindu Swastika in our prayer plates, our altars, in our temples, and etc. The German version of it was changed (thank God, actually, because it kept our authentic Hindu Swastika, at least, in tact, for us to use in our religious ceremonies and prayers), and came to symbolize one of the cruelest aspects of German history. All the more reason, I appreciate that that symbol has been removed from every area and building in Germany. Ich bin in Deutschland als kleines Maedchen aufgewachsen, also deshalb kann Ich euch, euere Geschiche und eure Leute auch gut verstehen. Alles gute. Danke Schoen. Namaste....

Lymbe06 it’s sad, yes, but keep in mind that the trend on that is slowing down and in some cases going back. Both France and the Netherlands decided not to elect Marie LePen or Geert Wilders respectively to lead their country, both being far-right politicians (and both blond... Starting to see a pattern here together with Trump and Boris Johnson). In Germany, the far-right party AfD is continuously dropping in the polls, and ripping itself apart as members fight for leadership, all the while increasingly worried that they might find themselves under surveillance by a constitution commission (to check whether or not their actions too far right to be tolerated). Yes, Hungary has another strongman leading it down dark paths, and Poland’s far-right government is slowly making changes to the constitution that benefit it; but the tide that threatened to sweep through Europe has been stemmed. Now it’s a matter of rolling it back.

A MOVEMENT that NEEDS to HAPPEN: Educating the people WILL REDUCE the need for police. I know we cannot abolish the police force all together (we do need someone to take care of those who refuse to play by civil rules), but if citizens behave better, there will sure be a lesser need for policing the streets so much. Educating people to become better citizens, instill the need for us to help each other and also help each other walk a civil and decent line is ESSENTIAL to the betterment of the country and of Quality of Life. Someone like YOU, Trevor, can really push issues like this, but not only in one show, but until it happens. We humans learn by experience or by infinite repetition. Thank you.

i live in new jersey. camden was once considered one of the most violent cities in all of america. almost a decade ago, they disbanded their police force and decided to rebuild it from the ground up. as a result, crime rates have dropped, there's so much more trust in the law enforcement there, and there's a sense of community again. i know camden is a fraction of minneapolis's size, but it's a sign that steps like these can work, as long as the dedication to see it work is there.

I can't remember the name of the show I watched because my memory is wack, but that host also talked about how the police have too much responsibility. They are asked to do way more than they should be, and that we should be investing more in the communities and not in our law enforcement. If we invest in and improve the communities that are struggling, there should be no need for so much policing because they won't see a need to commit crimes. Obviously, this wouldn't completely stop crime, but it would definitely lower it.

That's what we need for our government. You build structures from the ground up. Foundations are not built from the top down. The government is not doing things in the intrest of the people (all). We need a citizen review board for the police as well as the government to the highest level. We need to update the constitution, because it doesn't include all races. We all want to provide for our families. Come home to a stress free life. Put more time at home than work. I appreciate the new generation, because they are not for the diversity. God bless us all.

Hello from Germany. We had protests last Saturday in 15 or so cities here with thousands of people. It's the first protest I ever went to because I've realized I am far too comfortable in where I'm at in life and I need to not just sit on my ass and just enjoy the rights others have fought for for me. This whole thing has now started conversations about racism in a lot of countries, including mine, in both the police and general population, which is great. Racism is, as someone put it the other day, less lethal here. But that doesn't mean that still not too many people die for racists reasons or suffer in various ways because of it. It's an important conversation that has started and I hope that we, the US and all other countries can address the racism issue and find a way how to do better in the future!

@@Danuxsy lol ok? And what about the 75 year old who was hospitalized after being shoved to the ground by an officer and hit his head? See I can name random events that happened to big deal. That sucks for those stores, but its clearly because the Asian community failed to put their voices out on the matter, because they're always only concerned with their community while wanting the same rights as everyone else. I am Asian so I know we are guilty of this. But this isn't about why one race did this to another, it's about showing that until Black Lives Matter, all lives dont matter. This video shows us that peaceful protests do cause change, and that's proven with support from all over the world. So try to focus on that, and go out and actually support more than just YOUR community and I'm sure stores wont need to be smashed, if you're really even asian and not just some Russain bot lol

Think of weed, for example, if you think weed use its a problem, which is debatable, but for the sake of this argument let's say it is absolutely a problem. If your only tool to control the "problem" is the police, yo need to make it a crime to sell and consume weed to gain control over the problem. But maybe if you institutionalize other tools to deal with this "problem" like legalization, science-based drug education in schools, easy access to appropriate rehabilitation treatment, or whatever may be effective, use your imagination, maybe then you would not have to make weed consumption and distribution a crime to have control over it. ¿Is this hard to understand? I don't want to sound rude, maybe its just lack of imagination or something, hope I helped you.

@semaj_5022 4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Putting wayy too much into the hands of the Police when simply better funding and structure for education, poor neighborhoods, drug addiction treatment and prevention, mental health, etc. would remove so much crime before it ever even happens that we could have a better structured, smaller and more dedicated police force that could actually serve and protect what would already be a safer society. And that's not even touching on the racism issue..

@spencerphilippinedream3706
@spencerphilippinedream3706 4 жыл бұрын
@@Formed123 i agree it is common sense that a nation will be more wealthy if it stops overspending on police and prisons and starts investing in its citizens productivity through education and other productive services. to break this down to basic terms, take 1 criminal. take the money you would spend on the police, court, and prison system for 1 repeat offender over 10 years. use that money to train him as a plumber. 10 years later, the government has raised money (through taxes) instead of spending money (through ineffective rehabilitation) now that money can be used to fund programs like free education, free healthcare, etc.

Yeah... It's really weird how Europe went through the exact same issues during the 19th century - systemic upper-class oppression, lack of education and safty networks for the masses all in the face of the end of the napoleonic wars and the industrial revolution but somehow, because of the isolationism, slavery and participating in two world wars and then the cold war during which it abandoned the organized racism but still demonized all kinds of social policies (oh, I just answered my own question), the US managed to skip the social policy part of nation building almost compeltley. If anyone can recommend a book that explains this mentality in more detail, I would be really thankful.

TsunaTsurugi Well because we don’t know. The rest of the globe may not be really aware. The USA is like one of if not, the most highlighted country due to its globalization and mass media. (Especially corruptly taking natural resources from other countries and importing our extremely cheap labor there for more profit.) IMF screws you guys already, and Switzerland’s Glen Core gets precious copper from Zambia, etc. People around the world are influenced by Hollywood productions, movies, tv shows and think it’s cool to be like what they see. Social media has a big role in it too. But poor countries that has been taken advantage of like Africa for centuries currently does not have the same influencing media power as nations like the US, EU, Russia, etc. And IF ANYTHING, thanks to conquistadors from Spain and other colonizers in the past. Africans have been deemed as less important, less human, etc. That’s my assumption as to why not many know about or care enough yet to seriously look into slavery, injustices and corruption from developed nations enough yet. I hope this makes sense to you. So instead of just getting angry at the people who are now just being privy to the innocent killing of black people in the USA due to social media, and being at home all day to avoid getting corona virus. I would advise you finding out a way to be able to open the eyes of many people to what’s going on everywhere or in Africa and to teach. Without just angrily attacking people online for their ignorance or since they are just now waking up to the reality.
