"American Airman" - Max Impact

The U.S. Air Force Band's Max Impact has made unique contributions to our Airman culture, writing career field-specific songs for the Honor Guard ("Stand") and Air Force Special Operations ("Send Me"). However, for their next project, the members of the band wanted to broaden the scope of their message. The result of this desire for force-wide inclusivity is the song "American Airman," which was written by Technical Sgt. Nalani Quintello and Senior Master Sgt. Matt Ascione, both members of Max Impact.

If you think about it, record them marching into the parade ground at Lakeland with the drums. I recorded a little bit but didn't get enough to loop it and it won't be on the DVD if you buy the graduation DVD (my son graduated in 2021 and is currently serving)

You made the most of your career, and despite all of hardships, you still did what very few people have done in this nation, and that's always something to be proud of. We all want change, we all want to military to be a better place. There are a lot of ignorant people commenting about the bands without knowing all the facts. the only band that toy start as a E-6 is the D.C band. all the other bands starts as a E-3. 99% of the people who join the band has some type of college degree, from bachelors to DMAs/PHDs etc... I've seen E-3s with DMA! everybody in the band could easily join the AF as officers but they prefer to join doing what they love to do best, as an airmen musician. they don't need tech school cuz they already paid for there training. As a matter of fact the mayority of the Amn that you see in the bands are already in there mid 20s cuz they joined after college. With that been said, I do recommend to get all the facts/information coreect before start talking nosense. Good job Max Impact!

Just looked her up. She has an associates degree in music performance, a bachelors in Music business, and enlisted in 2015. Musicians in the military typically have degrees in the field. They are top of the line, as much as symphony musicians and music teachers in schools and colleges.

Now that I've found you guys on youtube I have been enjoying your other videos and now I have a new favorite band! You guys KICK BUTT!!! This young lady doing the lead vox on this one just blows me away with her range and vocal control. Really? I can't believe the negative comments, especially about rank. First, for anyone who has not taken the oath and worn the uniform, your comments are empty and meaningless - go away. When I watch this video I see PJ on the ground and jumping out of airplanes to rescue those who need it, I see 50-year-old B-52's still the air, helicopter pilots skilled in mid-air refueling, first responders, medics and fire services, along with the other hundreds of other career fields the men and women of the USAF dedicate years and personal sacrifice to accomplish the mission. When you do your job to the equivalency of singing or playing an instrument better than the airman around you we can discuss accelerated promotions, otherwise shut-up and do your job, go to leadership school, study for the test and you will earn your rank when its due.

She never had to open up a PDG to earn E-6 while those PJs and hard working first responders you mentioned had to every year for about a decade before making that rank. They also all went to leadership schools on how to be an NCO/leader/supervisor. Thinking she is actually entitled to E-6 goes against everything written in the little blue and brown books (AFI 1-1 and 36-2618)

Vocalist is crisp, in the pocket, great timber and presence....the band is relatively tight...and the production ok...a bit too much reverb but it rocked ok...it is quite listenable and actually playable...and I would work out on repeat with this on my play list without getting tired ....I really liked it...regardless of the previous negativity

How and why is she a TSgt (E-6)? She just joined the Air Force earlier THIS year! Special Forces who get shot at and kill terrorists usually take at minimum 8 years to make E-6, not 8 months.

+Kebert Xela All band members make E6 because they are actually musicians and have to be given competitive pay. I am in the AF and not in the band. Also don't really give a shit. I'm sure special forces don't give a shit either. There's more important things to worry about. If you want E6 after basic then you should have joined the band.

+Murder3 If they are real musicians that should be paid like real musicians, then they should just be a traveling band that represents the Air Force but not serving IN the Air Force. Giving them E-6 out of basic is a mockery of the rank and what is means to earn it and be an NCO. It goes against everything written in the little blue book and little brown book (AFI 1-1 and 36-2618). And yes these people are musically talented, but if they were amazing they'd be big in their own band. They are on par with a lot of opening acts of real civilian bands and the singer may win local karaoke contests, but don't give them the rank that the average person in the military took 10 years, half of those years on 12 hour shifts, 5 deployments, 2 six week NCO leadership classes, and over 100 troops to supervise and lead on 4 different bases. They get enough Special Duty pay, per diem, and enough frequent flyer miles to fly First Class all the time...do they really need to be given 3 extra ranks too?

I can not stress this enough how much active duty universally hates and wants to get rid of this cringe inducing waste of money and personel reasources at a time when every career field is undermaned and underfunded.
