@nicos frangeskou Do you even know the definition of a peninsula? The peninsula is a part of the mainland, like an island separated from the continental mass. On one side it is annexed to the continent, and on three or more sides it is surrounded by the sea. Whenever I talked to the Greeks, no one complained about the fact that Greece is also part of the Balkans. The comparison with the USA and Vietnam is meaningless, it is known why the Balkan wars are called that, and the Greek army did not travel to another continent to fight.

Guys..guys.. just memorate THIS. Europeans sport teams do not have FANS.. They have SUPORTERS.. is a totaly diferent story in those words. Fans are the ones that see the game in front of the TV.. Suporters suports the clubs. Everything you've saw untill now and you talk about.. those are SUPORTERS. MEMORATE that. Suporters suport their team clubs for generations. Is a real life thing.. not a TV show like in the USA.

The US has teams that are owned by some rich guy or some hedge fund. Europe has clubs that are owned by the people in the area the club is from. Its not just supporting the team, its representing your home.

From 2001-5, I lived in Athens, about 10 blocks from Panathinaikos' football stadium. In the evening, I always knew when I stepped out of my building when there was a home game: the smell of tear gas in the air. The "club" system in the Europe and eastern Europe is just nuts. One year, a fan got fatally stabbed by a rival fan in Athens - at a womens' volleyball match. I went to one basketball game, and I'm glad I did, but I don't know if I'll ever go to another. (OTOH, I loved Greece, and I hope to retire there - it's just different. Athens is a very cool city, if urban areas are your thing. I live in rural VT now, but grew up in NYC and spent 25 years in DC, so it's not a stretch for me.) BTW - love the video(s) - these guys lived it, and know what I'm talking about, as much as I an relate to their stories.

Haha we call them "nsb'ers" in the Netherlands, meaning NSB party members. NSB was the Dutch nazi party that collaborated with the krauts during WW2. Those were the people that snitched on Jews and resistance, and anybody else that didn't cooperate with the krauts. I'm sure that if America would ever be invaded by a foreign country, those people would be the first to snitch on their fellow countrymen.

It’s cultural. Europe never had a 50 year span without a war in HISTORY! In historical terms, WWII was yesterday, and we still had Serbia-Croatia war and Russia -Ukraine today…. There is not a single person in Europe today who haven’t seen some kind of a military conflict in Europe. It’s crazy.

It's because they're picking out the worst and craziest things that happened to them. And those things happened. But in reality most of the times those rivalries, chants, flares, and coreographies stay in the stands and contribute a lot to the atmosphere and the spectacle of the game. It's amazing just for the supporters, I can't imagine what kind of experience for a player could be.

It's an old video, but you have to realize that a lot of great players didn't go to the USA because they have fans here and their "family" that won't happen in the USA. In the US, it's a family spectacle and it's about money, just like healthcare.

Kyle Hines will always be loved by Olympiacos fans. Bryant Dunston was also my boy when he played for us! Both of them should have never left the team. Much respect to James Gist too. He was a rival, but a great competitor! On the other hand, Mike Batiste is a terrible human being that stepped on an opponent's head and also had a hit r' run. He should have never been acknowledged as a peer in these podcasts...

Maccabi Tel Aviv plays in Euroleague. Israel is technically Asia geographically but their teams play in European leagues.

Italy a lil to and france produces the best players alongside spain overall. but not to the levels of Balkan countries and Spain. slovenia excluded recently the euro teams that won where spain and france not Balkans team.. the best euro player ever us German ( luka coming) so talent wise the best talent overall hasn't been coming from Turkey or Greece... everyone else just playing football and their good players go to the NBA.. Balkans arent close to the real powerhouses in the one sport who is the only one that really matters in europe though pana fans gala fans can only dream to be respectable in the Europa league. always a joke in the champions leaugue. but dont worry it will take a bigger role in other european countries soon enough. europe will produce more and more talent in the coming years. France and spain are producing wonderful young players.. eastern europe to. soon enough euros taking over the nba to 👌
