Learning Vietnamese is difficult. I speak Bahasa, Tagalog and Mandarin fluently and have pretty good conversational Thai but Vietnamese beat me. I think that's because I just didn't connect with the country despite wanting to go there for so many years and I cant even explain why even after two visits.

Yeah, my friend who I travel with basically understands all of those languages , besides Thai, and she couldn't get the tones right either. I thought maybe it was close to mandarin or Cantonese, but it doesn't seem that way. Then, we were like, does it have some french influence? We still aren't sure. 😅 I think I'm still processing how I feel!

@@ThisIsDrewFerguson As unfair as it seems sometimes you will have the advantage and sometimes your friend will. Prices together will be judged on your skin colour. You can't change that so just use it to your best advantage.

@@ThisIsDrewFerguson Vietnam has a strong French influence as a former colony hence the food and architecture. I can't tell you why but I never felt comfortable there in the way I do elsewhere in the region. If you get to understand why let me know.

Funnily enough in some of the next vlogs, you'll see black under my eyes and fatigue central. 😂 This city wore me to the bone!

Goodness. you were worried about 50,000 dong? That is less than $2. It wasn't worth the time you spent trying to explain to her, and the interpreter (and to us) what happened.

Honestly, it is more than just about the money, and it demonstrates hardships while traveling; however, I would encourage you not to downplay other people's money situations. Maybe it's not much to you...
