Some English accents make me think if I know any English at all, but then, back here in Brazil, I don't understand some people accents too, so I guess it's normal to not understand every accent of a language

It seems ironic that the American lady made fun of “uneducated” people in the last video. The Singaporean wasn’t intentionally exaggerating her accent. She was speaking like a normal Singaporean young person does.

I am a Liberian and I can understand Singaporean accent. When English is not your first language it could be difficult for people to understand you speaking English. All you need to do is pay attention and listen carefully when someone is speaking English and if you don’t understand the words or word ask the person to say it again and repeat it

That singaporean accent is called singlish and its heavily influenced by how malay from southern malaysia peninsular speaks. Sadly singaporean were predominantly by chinese Who were brought by British to rid native malay population. I know some singaporean Will hate this but British is using chinese population to owned the land in singapore because malay is 99. 99% muslim

I really enjoyed the video and would love to see a similar one featuring non-native English speakers from countries like the Nordic region, Germany, Japan, Brazil, Spain, and France. It would be interesting to see if American and British girls can understand them. It's important to note that Ireland is a separate country and not part of the United Kingdom, although Northern Ireland is.

Citizen of Newcastle here. Just to let you know, we're not Scottish, our city is in Northeast England. Glaswegian is the accent of people from Glasgow, a city in Scotland. Our accent is Geordie and has a mix of Scots, Old Norse, Old Dutch, Romani and Old English.

You tend to forget English has these really far out regional accents, with how standardized English on the Internet is. But yeah, you could make that kind of video with German accents/dialects based solely on Germany and Austria, and have it be 15 accents.

With the South African one, the mom was saying, "Try and Guess (The name of the movie)". So the kid was repeating it since he didn't quite make out what she was saying.

They copied a video that was made by my hero, Olly Richards - all his accent clips, his thumbnail too. They would never have even know about the Cape Coloured English accent of South Africa, let alone find a video example of it. They even copied the thumbnail! Here's what I could make out from each accent. Three dots (...) symbolize parts I couldn't make it out/didn't understand: 1:54 Northumbrian: "...business owners...do well...honest...is my pub...it's less parking spots and more people having to park" 3:14 Trini: "In this video I'm going to try it a little straight, straight Trinidad. I think I'm a do it a little straight Trini, a 100% Trini, like if I talkin' to my ma kinda Trini or if my brother kinda Trini. Do you have a accent?" 3:54 Cape Flats: "-What's the name of the movie? -Try and kiss. -Try and kiss? -No, Try and kiss. -Try and kiss. -What's the name? -Try and kiss. -No, I told you Try and kiss. -Try and kiss. Tell me again! -I told you, Try and kiss." (OK, so it's not Try and kiss, but no idea what the name of the movie is) 5:01 Appalachian: "A big clap of thunder and then it commenced to raining. I've been working and working on this and I'm having a little bit of a trouble and as you can see it's still side-goggling." 5:45 Singaporean: "It depends on like, how they speak. Because sometimes you can tell if is natural or is just exaggerated types, uh, like say halfway in...okra once..." 6:36 Jamaican: "Um, I want to make more money money money money money. I'm just expand cuz all the people want this space so I gotta make this space bigger, that's people can come and enjoy themselves." 7:49 Newfoundland: "...she's come back to Alberta for a couple of weeks and I'm...me father for a couple of weeks when he's just gone away to Labrador. But we're gonna be back at it again soon, so make sure you get your vax passports out and get out and like see the shows you know..." 8:41 Guyana: "We take you back to the vulture, flying high in the sky let the whole world see! Let the whole world see! Let the whole word see!" 9:23 Glaswegian: "...I been trashin'...the alley...alright...the babies are shouting...it was nothing" 10:40 Tangier: "...I had to get out...my husband...cashing out there all day. She's behind the counter, she says 'is it...Jack?' I say 'who's that man?'" 11:13 Liberian: "...today! When you are dress up fine like me and you are...a gold watch and...people will look at you and say 'man you want...Hey!'"

For Singaporean, you're correct until "...or it's those exaggerated type, let's say, halfway in their teenage year they decided 'OK-lah I want to speak more Ang Moh (Foreigner, in this case native English speaker) accent' and then..." I'm Malaysian and I understand everything she said.

That's because people from Newfoundland come from either Ireland or Scotland, I'm not sure. It is quite interesting. I've heard the Jamaican language before as well as the Trini.

You guys chose the worst video clips you could find to showcase dialect differences. Conversations just dropped in the middle so no context what they were saying, just repeating same word repeatedly which was name of a movie that they couldn't say, or talking unnaturally super fast.

Newcastle is the toughest for me. It's funny that an Edinburgh accent is quite a bit easier to understand, since they're both Scottish, so I don't know if it's the Picts influence, or what. The Northumbrian I had to listen to twice, but it was doable, sounds a little like Ozzy Osbourne (Birmingham), but rougher, maybe east of Manchester or something. Same with Newfoundland, Labrador is north of Newfoundland, to the east of Quebec, "we're gonna be back at it again soon, vax passports, get out and see the shows", etc. The Welsh and Irish are very pleasant to listen to, sort of like the southern accent is the most pleasant one here in the US.

I loved the different accents. Especially the ones in North America (Appalachia, Newfoundland, Chesapeake Bay). I worked with a few from Trinidad and from Jamaica, so I got most of the conversation. Singlish is Singaporean English, which is a mixed of one of the official languages (Tamil, Malay and Mandarin are the others), so that's why it sounded like "from India" and the okay lah is so Singlish. Had no clue what the kid from South Africa was saying. I know they speak Afrikaan there so that might be the accent . As for my accent, I've been told that I have a New York accent. If I have a heavy cold it does come out. Up until I was 13 I lived in NYC. I lived in South Florida for 40+ and it's a hodgepodge of accents there.

REALLY tacky that you used Olly Richards' entire video of accent clips to make your own reaction video. He had to hunt for those clips all over the net (which he then credited with the links to the original videos in his video description - total transparency and fairness), while you just used his whole video and all the clips he found, instead of looking for your own. Totally lost respect for this channel and I'll never watch again now that I know you don't do your own research and are happy to let others do the work for you. Shame on you.
