The amount of people bitching about you neutering Ronin is a little terrifying tbh. Why are y'all so obsessed over this dog getting fixed? Most large breed dogs get fixed around age 2 because they're fully grown and have all the muscular structure they need by then. Good god.

@@stuckie3916 Ronin's recall and behavior got better after he got neutered. Hormones do crazy things to your body. Keeping an intact dog is like keeping a ticking time bomb. im a professional dog handler, give this a good read if your not confident if you should or should not go to a dog park. I look after groups of 10-20 dogs in a dog park setting, 1 handler per yard, we are trained to deal with this type of body language when to interject and when not to interject ourselves. key rules for dog who attend dog parks: Gate manners - must sit before entering the environment must wear a drag line unless recall is proofed MUST be able to receive a dogs correction appropriately When said dog gives a dog a correction is it balanced? no pinning, no humping,(we call them off for doin so) no intensive rough play for over 20 secs (must call out of heated play) if a dog is leading up giving all off these signals at a dog park, and YOU know the dogs going to kick off, its your duty to call the trained dog off and handle the other one YOURSELF not let the dogs settle it. however if you know the dogs well such as a daycare environment where we screen and trial dogs, you let the dogs give each other a stare down or a few whale eyes see if they get the hint if not we interject ourselves and settle the situation. FIGHTS HAPPEN - though rare in a proffesional setting - don't beat around the bush, a scuffle is dogs goign at it but no latching on and call off with out physical contact, a FIGHT is where there is puncture wounds and not letting go untill physically pulled off. when a fight occurs, grab YOUR dog (the victim) by the back hips and toss it to the side and slip lead the other dog, pull the dog out of the environment as the adrenaline will likely redirect into a 2nd fight. if you are not the person closest to the fight, DO NOT SHOUT this can cause more fights and excitement levels to rise, instead dump water over the dogs, clap or bang on a fence if outside. NOT participating in resolving a fight is fired from our facility. Tools to have handy on the side of a dog park for everyone to have: Air Horn Bite sticks extra SLIP leads WATER BUCKETS

All these people talking about how bad you neutering your dog is are so stupid lmaooo. When a dog has more testosterone going through his body he is more likely to be super dominant which can lead to behavioral issues and aggression. Also imagine it this way, he was obviously never meant to be a breeding dog, imagine you have all this testosterone running through your body and all these hormones but you aren’t able to breed, your just stuck like that. It would be hell, people who don’t neuter there dogs are the real selfish ones who are doing it cause they attach the human trait of “manliness” to a dogs nuts 🤦

His videos should be a must for the dog park people, on looking for the nuances that cause dogs to react in a aggressive way. Canela does a excellent slow motion analysis of minor nuances that 99 per cent of Dog Park people miss. Now males dogs are always in Season where females are twice a year. But to state that a altered dog fixes dog aggression is not correct. It does obviously stop a male dog from breeding and does stop for the most part a male dogs need to wander looking for females. I have had many real working dogs and as long as you satisfy a real working dogs needs then dog on dog aggression is not a issue! But if your version of work is the dog park.................. No good! Do not by a Ferrari and drive it in a Walmart parking lot. I run a KNPV DS female off leash at all times including Dog Parks to proof training and young a non altered highly bred APBT, do I think he can tolerate a Dog Park when he matures............. honestly no idea. Time will tell, if you have any idea of altering your intact male then just get a female much easier to manage a working dog. Or just get a golden dog of some type and go to the dog park and look at your phone and socialize. But Never take a real Dog to a park and not be 100 percent watching every new dog encounter. You are just asking for problems.

I don't attach anything to my dogs nutts - I'm just not a degenerate from the US who think mutilating dogs is the only way to keep them socialized and behaving normally, especially not a degenerate who convinced themselves that removing organs is "good for health". Just shut up, you mutilating dogs is your selfishness because you think that's "easier" to handle, you don't do it for the dog, stop the cap. The "hell" you think they go through is you projecting human sexuality onto dogs, which is a LOT weirder than anyone feeling sorry for their dog's nuts.

In my opinion (at 0:54 seconds), that's not a relaxed tail wag, that did not mean friendly. Ronin's hair is standing up on his neck and back, and his tail is wagging vertically which means Ronin was displaying dominance towards the Pit mix. You really can't blame the pit for reacting the way it did, if you met another person and they walked up to you and got in your face and puffed out their chest immediately you would probably not react kindly to it. I feel like with you knowing Ronin is an intact dominant male, you should have called him off when you saw him tense up like that. I like your video's, I hope I don't come across as rude I've just noticed in some of the video's Ronin is the one showing dominance and some of the negative interactions are because of that. I also have a Presa mix and it can be hard to not show bias and remember when you're dog is in the wrong and correct them. Even the most well-trained dogs can have moments.

It is the norm, but dogs who are spayed/neutered too early have an increased chance of developing undesirable behavioral issues such as phobias, fear aggression and reactivity. Early spay/neuter triples the risk of developing hypothyroidism and becoming obese. So it is best to wait for at least 15 months after birth

I’m definitely not going to fix my dog specially since we don’t go to dog parks although we do go to a fiesta island dog park which is very big and dogs are off leash my Achilles (92+ pound) Belgian gets to run around and has been trained to walk away and avoid from conflict unless attacked. I do believe on fixing dogs that have bad genetics as I did with my female husky but my Mal is pure bread, oversized and well tempered, trained in bite work and obedience and will be used as a breeding dog with a working dog in the near future. People think it’s the unneutered dogs fault when there is conflict but I blame the untrained dog to not follow a command when they escalate the situation by not listening to the owner. I’ve gotten into one or 2 arguments about my dog’s aggression from owners holding their dogs when they see my dog has balls and they hold on to their dogs saying that my dog is aggressive when they don’t pay attention to their dogs but their dogs are over aggressive towards him. If an Alfa wolves can handle being around other unfixed wolves you can teach your domesticated dog Neto listen to you not to attack other dogs by using an E-collar the right way.

My reason as to why the owner(s) would not step in. If the owners stepped in, it is possible that even themselves could have been hurt. Without the pit mix being corrected, it could've damaged both the owner's dog(s) and the pit mix altogether. You cannot just pull dogs away from a fight. They happen for a reason and are usually settled if they *aren't* bothered. Pit Mix: Gets in the personal space of the BM. BM: In response, he shows uncomfortable behavior. Pit Mix: *continues* getting into the personal space of the BM. BM: Is finally triggered when the Pit tries to set dominance. If someone did that to you as an human, you'd also feel uncomfortable. We may have different body language and thoughts from dogs, but they understand uncomfortability in their own way! Just like how many humans do the same. Of course, there are many cases that are similar to this video. This is a reminder that *if* you see your dog correcting another, do *not* step in unless it is needlessly violent. It is their way of setting boundaries. And to also keep your dog in check so they don't keep bothering the corrected dog. (Unless the dog needs yet another correction.) (I am not a professional, but I do study many animal behaviors and have even adapted some myself. You can form your own opinion, but this is mine. The creator of the video *cannot* go back in time to fix any problems the BM or the Pit has done. Please take that into consideration!)

Comment about dog trying to put his chin on another dog to show dominance (I don't remember which breed is which) was enlightening. I was a relatively new dog owner, watching, puzzled, while a shepherd breed of some sort followed my pit mix all over the dog park, with his chin nearly glued to my dog's back. My dog kept trying to get away, the shepherd wouldn't let him. Finally my dog rolled onto his back in front of the other, and that's when I finally understood what was happening.(Btw, the domineering dog was soon banned from the park.)

In my opinion, I think if Ronin really wanted to hurt this dog, he would have. But it seems like a very firm correction. When he had that dog by the neck was like a firm hold to show that dog to quit. And his bad behavior is not tolerated. Ronin is absolutely an amazing dog. But this is just my opinion.

Proper socialising is letting your dog be used to new environments and to be neutral around other dogs, letting them know they shouldn’t be saying hello to everyone. Socialising isnt just making your dog say hi to everyone and taking to dog parks.

Happy to hear everything turned out okay and everyone was all right. Good on you for getting him neutered, and for waiting. Just a couple of FYIs. Mine got neutered later in his life too, right before I adopted him. Some intact dogs react weirdly to him for that reason. Second, if you see another stare down like that, step in to diffuse it. A loud and sharp "Hey!" and/or a hand clap almost always is enough, and you have to catch it at the beginning, before the dog locks eyeballs and has time to escalate. This fight was avoidable, but we're all forever in the process of learning.

Well, it's perfectly natural for some dogs to want to show they are top dog but it usually only takes one or two shows of dominance for the other dog to get the message. Dogs don't take it personally. They either fight for that top spot or simply take it on the chin and get on with their lives. By far the majority do the latter.

Pack mentality is 100% a thing. Crazy how people don't believe it at all. Had to give a dog to a friend after moving away a long time ago, and come to find out their neighbor's dog hated mine, but was friends with the other dogs they had. He had attacked my old dog 2-3 times and the others didn't really know what to do as they were friends with both so kind of just sat out, but on the very next attack, they started attacking the neighbors dog the moment he started it without hesitating, because mine was living with them, whereas the neighbor one obviously didn't. Even though they knew that other dog 5+ years and only knew mine for a few months, he was part of the pack now, and that trumps knowing the other dog for that length of time.

i watched another dog channel and the guy always says that the nose lick is more like the look away an sign of not wanting to fight? a few days ago my dog had his first "altercation" with another intact male the other dog was a little pushy and tried to mount serveral times which my dog met with air snaping combined with short growls but the other guy didnt want to stop sadly the owner of the other dog threw a dog toy and my dog was faster which ticked her dog of obviously so mine got a light bite to the neck which made him drop the toy and tail it to hide at my side the other dog stoped after he got his toy back i think that was kindof a good social experience for my dog since he is a total pushover normally and this time he was not letting the other guy mount him so i was happy with that only the toy part was kinda of a bad move
@feather9115
@feather9115 Жыл бұрын
This is an oversimplified way of putting it, but looking away is to release tension. The nose lick shows that the dog is currently tense. (As far as im aware) So you can see how these may occur at the same time
@MrJaninja
@MrJaninja Жыл бұрын
@@feather9115 lip lick or nose lick is showing "i dont want issue, I'm no harm". It happens in both scenarios, when the dog is tense, but try to de-escalate, lip-lick, look away (which is btw rather passive aggressive and "I will stand my ground" type of message without explicit and repeated lip-licks. With half open mouth is a more confident, closed mouth more tense but warning. This video shows this case very clearly, the belgian looks away not to de-escalate the situation he already tried that when the pit approached him, also there is no very articulated lip-licking after he stood up, but he is saying "I mean no harm but I will stand my ground" with his whole interaction. This case the dog is tense, slight slow wagging or stale straight or slightly up tails, fur is up, stand is confident) but in other cases it can also means "I'm friend, I mean no harm, lets play", in those cases dog does not look away, shortly follows up with a play bow, dog is relaxed, larger and faster wagging, ears front, attentive focus on the other dog etc.) so lip-licking can go both ways. Btw, the other dog was very pushy, I think it is not clearly Ronin's fault, though half of the owners explanation is a stretch. My opinion is that he should have not let the puppy to interfere, the problem was around defending the puppy/possession of ball topped with pushy other male dog. Ronin did not want to fight, but he started it as the puppy put her head in between the two dogs in a stand-off.

Thats the unfortunate interaction between untrained and trained dogs in a setting where they are close. You're right about the other dog being insecure but he wasn't the one who attacked. Each dog owner should have called their dog off, especially the owner of the insecure mutt, to avoid further escalation.

@@cm6995 Should learn dominance behavior. The other dog wouldn't back away and went to a dominant position even after Ronin tried deescalating. The other dog might not have "attacked" first, but it was going for dominance position, which was then reacted upon. That's like saying dogs mounting for dominance aren't actually "attacking" so the other dog is wrong for attacking/correcting when it happens.

Another odd thing.

Breaking it down in a video is a lot different than watching it in real time. Given that they had already had an interaction that was semi-tense but easily de-escalated themselves, I can assume that the owner was recording just in case but hoping for the best. The end of the video they also admit to recognizing that Ronin being un-neutered was causing undue tension in the park and they have made steps to make this less likely to happen in the future.

Calling off dogs during tense situations requires a strong listener that's both dogs. If only one dog listens it's still an invitation for the other dog to escalate, because the dog being recalled is distracted. There's also dogs, when their owner approaches, that will have a strong need to protect everyone else including their owners around them. So as much as dogs try to deescalate, once their owner approaches, it's also over. Differs per dog what the situation will turn out to be. Sometimes all you can do is wait until it happens and once it has happened, you can only hope for the best. Of course there's better methods to deescalate as the owner or bystander, but these could be reasons why they don't do anything yet. Dogs are dogs, they also have instinctual things they can't unlearn.

I would want to as well (Plus i love dogs so id be all about interacting with other dogs at the dog park too) . Yeah, Ronin can kind-of be the dog equivalent of a dick sometimes but...hes a male dog, thats kinda just what they do. Besides as a couple of other commentors have stated in previous videos, sometimes its good for dogs to correct other dogs because it teaches dogs what not to do. also the owner does step in when things escalate, he literally states that he does. Also also, Ronin's harness has the camera on it at all times, so footage will always be getting captured (Which is often a good thing if something goes wrong). But hey, maybe im just an idiot

How come when you see all the moments/gestures/signals that are leading up to a fight, you don’t just interject & deflect and avoid the whole altercation between the dogs? Why risk injuries to any of the dogs? I understand when you’re filming from a far & notice all the micro moments that lead to a fight, & you’re too far to do anything in time. But when they’re right in front of you, why watch all the signs of a fight compound?

@@Altt yeah, the fight. Watch it again, Ronin's owner explained the body language clip by clip. Ronin was laying down, mouth opet, relaxed gaze= he was happy/relaxed. The pit mix came in, went straight towards Ronin's body with intention of dominating him. Ronin got up, because he knows what the pit mix wanted to do, gave him a side look, mouth no longer open= he is not relaxed anymore and is showing the pit mix he is aware of what he(the pit mix) wants to do. Yet, despite Ronin getting up and giving him the look, indicating that he does not want to be dominated(if Ronin was cool with it, he would've rolled over and shown his belly), the pit mix does not go away, he stands my Ronin very stiffly, high tail, focused on Ronin's body= indicating he isn't about to leave Ronin alone. Ronin stands his guard, doesn't move away either, pit mix shifts his body weight=about to go forward to dominate Ronin, that's when Ronin's had enough and the fight starts. When dealing with dogs, you have to understand their body language. 99% of fights dont just start out of the blue, there is always a reason, and you can know that by looking and following the dogs' body languages. In this instance, the fight started because the pit wanted to dominate Ronin and Ronin let him know he's not the one to be messed with. Hope that explains it. Always look at the prior interaction that led to the fight.

Stop going to dog parks. Many breeds are not meant for those risky situations. They are inherently dangerous for your dog. Go the Leerburg and read their article on why dog parks are bad. I have two Mals and they don’t care for strange dogs. That is 100% fine. Strange dogs are a gamble and they make my dogs uncomfortable so why force that situation on them and make them feel like they have to defend themselves. Dog parks are for people who don’t want to walk their dogs or find other means to stimulate their dog’s minds. Best wishes to you and your dogs. Please be safe.
