American Eagle (blue side) front seat on-ride HD POV Six Flags Great America

American Eagle is THE quintessential rollercoaster for me. It was already known as the old rickety one with the huge drop the first time I rode it in the early 90s and riding it a couple weeks ago for me was more fun than the newest coasters like Maxx Force. The drop is still awe inspiring and the helix makes me want to cheer. Even walking through the comically long line is iconic.

People are crazy to think they should RMC this, especially when the park has Goliath. It just needs to be fully re-tracked and perhaps given lighter trains or depending on whom does the work, GCI (so MF trains) or Gravity Group (Timberliner Trains). The helixes can be banked more to put less stress on itself and be more enjoyable and get both sides up and running again. It's clear from the 1hr long lines this coaster gets (granted, one side open, but still) when it's still before summer season shows the ride has enough popularity. It may be shakey, but given the multiple areas with breaks (presumably which wouldn't be needed with better trains or a good retracking) it's not rough unless your just in that B&M/RMC loving zone (even though B&M has the worst vest restraints on the market and RMC's trains break your legs on airtime hills).

Meh, Goliath is the worst RMC in the whole fleet. RMC this thing. I've been riding the American Eagle for almost 30 years now, it's probably the most important ride in the park for me. But I think RMC could make it one of the best coasters on the planet now.

No need to RMC this thing it was awesome! The first drop kicked so much ass and the helix was a barrel of laughs! Such a fun ride. Only wished both sides were open so we could race!

POVs always make the first drop look easy when it is actually a beast. Her helix comes in as the second best part of the ride. Sure she is bumpy but that is a huge part of her appeal! Absolutely worship this coaster; I've been riding it so long that I remember the backwards racing days.

Red side looks to have more hills after the giant helix. Whereas, the blue side seems to have but one or two airtime hills after the helix and is pretty much more lateral compared to the red side. I've never ridden this coaster before. But I've seen the POV's enough to know.

No, not really. I rode red and blue sides (3 times blue, 1 time red), and after that giant circular thing, red has more hills than blue. Then after that, the blue gets more than red, so it kind of evens out in the end. And when you saw in the beginning when rd was ahead of blue, that's really rare cuz usually blue is ahead of red, thats why I like blue more. When I went to Fright Fest, I rode blue and in the middle of the ride, red just started and was still on the climb (This part isn't really part of the reply, but just saying)...

Over Texas ain't that great. It has the NTG and Mr. Freeze, but other than that, the park is super boring. I recommend you check out Fiesta Texas when you are in Texas. Superman, Iron Rattler, Poltergeist, Batman. All fantastic rides. Plus all of the smaller family rides are a bunch of fun too.
