Why do Finns like America so much? I'm a Russian living in Finland now and it's a complete mystery to me. In Russia America is often criticized. Finland has a lot to be proud of

Because 'Murica is the land of the free and the brave. Also, and this is a fact, a lot of Finnish people went to work in the USA back in late 19th century and early 20th century, for example both my great-grandfathers worked in the USA and came back, especially in the Bothnia region in Finland. And because of this the Bothnia region is still very pro-America region with very few communists, compared to Lapland, Eastern Finland and bigger cities.
