American Explores ABANDONED Cathkin Park in Glasgow!

On this episode of State Of Soccer we will be exploring the abandoned Cathkin Park!
Cathkin Park was originally known as Hampden Park from 1884-1903 when Queens Park Football Club called this former stadium home. In 1903 Queens Park decided to move to the current site of Hampden Park, and Third Lanark A.C. moved in. It was from 1903-1967 that Third Lanark would call this stadium home.
This now abandoned stadium is the site of a popular Glasgow Park & on today's episode I'm so excited to do some Urbex! Well...not totally since it is a public park at this point but still quite the adventure! After nearly an hour of searching for Cathkin Park I was able to find it, and I was not let down!

Very interesting. I had no idea about that. Hopefully the old terracing and barriers will be protected. Part of the allure of places like this is the return to nature over the years. Looking forward to your visit to Everton 🤣. While you're in the city remember to check out the construction of our new ground at Bramley Moore Dock.

As an expat Scot now retired and living in Spain, I visited here just over a year ago when it was a freezing cold day and the pitch and terraces were frosted over. I too had the place to myself and it was a lovely, if slightly eerie experience. There is a KZbin video of Celtic playing Third Lanark here in 1965 which is fascinating comparing then and now. By the eay, I love the way Hampden is pronounced as if it was Hampton Court. Nice video, well done.

first tour I watch and I loved it, must me a bit scary to walk trogh here. Hard to imagine 52k people there but its cool to see something so old. I love soccer old stadiums hopefuly I can see this for myself one day.

You where right beside it when you came out Hampden park at the start..And bowling was to the left of the old hampden park..You going on wild goose chase, somebody taking the piss..

I know. I completely started off in the wrong direction. I was told to go left outside of the stadium…and that threw me off 😅

cracking vid bud. one small thing - we don't pronounce the 'P' in Hampden - so its Ham-den Park. Also its Glazgow not Glass-go.

Third Lanark played in red, that's why the terracing still has red paint on it.
