one of the things i noticed is that you still have problems with your balanse , bc you are " flat footed" your weight is very much still on your heels, you need to be more on your forefoot, that's what make you meet the ball earlier and bc of that you can react faster...and it helps to keep the ball on the ground..... keep it up Luke...

@jdeboer680
@jdeboer680 21 күн бұрын
I agree, if you keep your heels off the ground as much as possible, you'll be able to move forward, backwards, right or left much quicker and easier, because your body is more poised to moving, if you are flat on your feet, you first need to lift and then shift your weight, which takes up a lot of time. You'll see your ballcontrol will improve a lot. Also, i think you should consider using your left for the same excersises, since you are learning everything from scratch, might as well do that as well, it'll help to improve control. Keep it up, you're doing great! And i know you love the game very much, but just wait until you actually play a game, that's the best thing in football 😎 greetings from The Netherlands.

May I suggest to "run with the ball" on grass because on that indoor surface the ball keeps rolling forward while barly touched which actually makes it way harder to controll it while moving forward..on grass you have to tip the ball basically at every step or every second step = so you have always a direct grip on the ball...do that on grass for getting the basics for controlling the ball while moving forward.... at an indoor surface it is then next level because you then have to run faster in order to keep the ball under controll because the ball doesn´t stop/isn´t slowing down on that plain indoor surface but is keeping rolling and therefore instead of "carrying with you" in order to get a "foot feeling/leg feeling" for the right basic controlled tip on the ball you always have to chase the ball on that plain surface which is not helpful for getting a feeling for the right controlled tip on the ball when running with the ball. Also I noticed you touched the ball with the tip of your foot/shoe/toes several times....don´t do that but always "carry the ball with you" while moving forward with the inside of your foot (your foot has to tip the ball like a golf club basically ALWAYS all the time not only just for shooting)...that will change the position of the ball when being tipped = instead tipping the ball when the ball is in front of you, as like it was now, you then have to tip the ball when the ball is positioned beneath you while setting the other foot/in that moment your standing leg direct positioned right beside the ball = "learning controlling the ball" for carrying it with you while moving forward and also for shooting to avoid a supine body position while shooting...

Now that is a progress! Arms started to move more, body leaning to the ball, much more confident when passing and stopping. Still qute unconfident with high balls. But its amazing how fast you are progress. Can I give you an advice, no one told me when I was kid - use both legs. For everything. Keep it up! In your current state, you can play slow, friendly game. Amazing

when you stop the ball with the chest you need to raise your arms to give you more balance and control. Actually you always need to move your arms more than you do, but on the chest controls and high controls in general it shows more the stiffness and the lack of coordination. Try to move your arms and upper body more fluidly and you will see a lot of difference.

Yep, you're just learning the difference between Aerobic and Anaerobic fitness. It's the same thing with sprinters vs long distance runners and it takes a while to switch from one to the other. You'll get there with perseverance, but it's the same struggle you'd get if you were trying to adapt to playing rugby. In terms of what competitions Brighton would focus on, it's one of the interesting draw backs of the PL having relatively equal funding. The money you get for being in the Europa League and Europa Conference League is pretty small relative to league position, but the extra stress it puts on the playing squad is massive, especially if you play a style that isn't highly defensive. It's depressingly common to see a team outside of the 'Big 6' qualify for Europe and then finish the next season a good few places lower (and it's been more than a few teams that have flirted with relegation at the same time too). The Big 6 tend to play many of the early rounds with line ups where the shirt numbers look closer to the NFL than the PL! I'll be interested to see what Newcastle do with the Europa League or Conference League next season, I suspect they'll be part way between the two

As a player who's played over 15 years I can actually see your tough is getting better, that's definitely cool to see. The fitness will come with time if you keep at it, I wouldn't even worry about it. And the feedback you got from the player is absolutely correct - Every time you touch the ball you play with your full body, even if it's just your foot touching the ball

Relax and think of it as a dance more than drills to follow.when the ball comes to you try to absorb the ball’s momentum like a sponge. In football we call it the first touch, usually you want to direct the ball to ur position you want to kick it. Like if you are right footed u want the ball roll to your right, so you move your body to the left of the ball. If you stand still a tackle will come in before you even realise. Andddd Try hitting the ball with different part of your foot to control the speed of the ball you kick. Train your right foot first then left. Have a fun time! It’s the best game on earth

I hear you say you feel you run stiff when moving the ball ahead. You can also put your feet on the ball and slightly drag it forward (u can later perform turns as well and use it for other situations) but you are focusing a lot so your body feels stiff. The more control you will have on the ball and confidence in your body, you will be more tranquil and not be stiff :)
@rickybuhl3176
@rickybuhl3176 21 күн бұрын
GGs sir. I'm jealous that you get to train with someone of that calibre but there is no greater motivation. Bravo. The thing with stiffness is that most regular people that don't participate in competitive sports never think about their ankle movement - it's just the autopilot from walking - it follows the leg swing. As a footballer you need to articulate your legs the way you do your arms - with the hands moving freely and constantly adjusting at the wrist, the foot needs to be controlled from the ankle more than just being dragged along by the leg or lead by the knee. When controlling the ball and not running, obviously. Sounds dumb but it really is a fundamental difference in mechanics to how we get to the "auto-pilot control". It's second nature to those of us who grew up playing football and often overlooked when teaching new players because we've not thought about it since we were 8, when our autopilot switched. Watch Badminton players, if they're young and serious you'll notice them bouncing around on their toes - same goes for other sports. They change our core mechanics and that's where it looks and feels stiff to someone learning it. It also shows a degree of self-awareness that you can honestly measure your development with, to where you can *feel* the progress. Used to play 5 minutes sat in a chair, hands cupped on the knees - moving the ball between the feet, just playing with the ball, passing it back and forth - you can't really use your legs, so you train the foot and ankle control whilst at the same time warming up and loosening the ankles before going onto the field. Edit: typos

When passing, I noticed that you swing your leg from out to in, which is great if you want a curved pass. However, for a short, sharp, direct pass, your follow through should leave your leg pointing in the direction you want the ball to go in, and the side of your foot should be pointing there too.

a thing about constant movement in football, on the pitch you very rarely see some player just standing still, if he isn't running he will be walking toward the play (the ball), since it's an hour and a half game running all the time is extremly hard. But you will see some players who ran 10km or even 12km in some cases in a single match.

Your comment about the different styles of training from american to international football was intrestesting. As a former player and coach I'd like to hear your perspective on the differences in training and mentalities. As someone who's taught and trained in one and has now done some basic training in the other, I think you have a really intrestesting viewpoint on explaining how simmilar or different the training, exercises and mentalities can be, between the two sports.

Hey man, first thing is that you can already see your progress in the newer clips. Keep going as your doing really well. Just a few things that might help you from someone who grew up playing football. Somebody else mentioned try playing on grass if possible and not indoors. Beings indoors makes the ball move way quicker and is less natural, it moves very abruptly whereas grass has a resistance that should help you with controlling the ball. Also work on your dribbling as this will help you overall and help you to become more confident when the ball is at your feet. You were very much using the tip of your foot to tap the ball forward. But if you watch players dribbling or tutorials online about the basics of dribbling you will see the foot position is very different. You dont tap with your toes, but rather push the ball forward with the top of your foot. You should always be using the outstep or instep of your foot rather than the tips of your toes. Lastly a suggestion that some may disagree with, but really is dependent on your p.o.v, I would suggest focusing more on the foot you are naturally inclined to use. (Looks to be your right), although admirable to want to use both feet, its is way tougher to train both. You can still get to a very good standard focusing more on your dominant foot. Hope this helps, sorry for the essay 😂 Keep up the good work.

Get yourself multiple size balls - tennis balls - leather balls - deflated balls - foam balls and put them everywhere in your garden or even your house. That way you're going to get acustomed to the motions and the mind-body connection will happen faster. Remember handling the ball with your feet is the most important skill. It's all about control... That's why players like Zidane are revered.

This is very interesting to me because I am bad at football... for my country. I have always played amateur (not even in a team, only with my friends and so) as a defensive wing back. I know my flukes: Cant keep possesion for long, I have to pass quick. I can press and even tackle fast players but slow dribbling kills me every time. But, still, Spain. Never had to learn the basics like you are now (no disrespect, just a curious fact). Now it has changed a little, but when I was in school, if you wanted to play something at break, normally you had two options: football with almost everybody and hide and seek/similar with less than 10 people. Then you go home, do your homework, go out and everybody is playing football, "culete" (everybody vs goalkeeper. If you send it out, you are the new goalkeeper, etc.), "frontón" (take turns to kick the ball againt a wall with only one touch and from the place the ball ends when the previous kid kicks. You fail to hit the wall, eliminated), "clásicos" (same goal and goalkeeper for both teams, 2vs2 or 3vs3 normally) and "sin que pouse" ("without it touching the ground", you stand in a circle and try to pass it from another one without touching the ground as long as you can trying not to move a lot from your initial position). It was all there.
