to add to your 'lulls them to sleep' point it also tires them out, keeps them constantly moving and that has 2 effects. 1, when they do finally find the opening, the defensive line and shape has been compromised and on top of that they've used much of their energy pressing so they can't keep up with the pace of the ball

Rinus Michels was the coach of the Netherlands and Ajax while Cruyff was a player. They co developed total football which later evolved into tiki taka
@anxofernandez3344Ай бұрын
He also coached him at Barça and the Dutch national team. He took a lot of inspiration from the 1950s Hungarian national team, the Mighty Magiars, from the 1960s Soviet Union and I think I heard him In an old interview mention some 1940s Liverpool team. Michels was a true student of the sport and he applied many things that different teams had used before. Cruyff was his main student and he introduced ideas from other sports such as Handball, Rugby and Field Hockey. Guardiola and Vilanova (RIP) built upon that with the best generation of players ever seen in Barcelona: Valdés, Alves, Puyol, Pique, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi...so much talent. A great coach with amazing players.

What is the key of Tiki Taka to me was the absolute briliance of the movement of the players especially Iniesta and Xavi, if you think about it those two undersized pretty much slow in comparison centre mids but their intelligence was what made them so great something like Larry Bird owning people with the "oneinch" vertical in the NBA. Teams were very prone to thinking they can just overrun and bully them but they were always in the right spot and not even tired
@samwilliams0901Ай бұрын
It got to the point where even the best teams in the world didn’t bother pressing them in midfield. That’s why a lot of the buildup was so slow - their reputation earned them time on the ball. The best midfield in history, sewn together by the best player in history.

Tiki-Taka wasn't a formal strategy but rather a nickname coined by a popular television commentator. It's an onomatopoeia describing the rapid, machine-like sound of a first-touch pass. This style emerged from a philosophy of moving the ball quickly, exploiting its superior speed compared to players. The goal was to tire opponents and force errors that could be capitalized upon. While Tiki-Taka required highly skilled and specialized players to be effective, it could become monotonous and unproductive if verticality was lacking. This contributed to its eventual decline.

Hi Luke, I think you would enjoy the video called “The Self-Destruction of Neymar” on youtube. It kind of nicely explains how Neymar was supposed to be 3rd best footballer and more or less explains how fans of football felt about his career unfolding the way it did and the disappointment everyone felt. I still feel lime he’s one of the greats and people tend to downplay his talent nowadays solely because we expected more from him than from other footballers, and he never became second Messi. A bit unrealistic expectation and sad really as he’s still incredibly successful

Boring for oponent fans to watch since their team never gets to touch the ball. Beautiful for Barcelona fans to watch since the enemy team never gets to touch the ball. Nice how people that didnt even watch football back then can go back and watch it and see how great it was. The video really shows how brilliant and essential Xavi was to the style of play. Its not only about passing, its at the level of passing and the flicks like Iniesta at 15:07 Only an extremly few players in history has had that control and even think about doing it. Most players just do the simpliest things keeping the ball on the ground and going for a shot as soon as possible becouse they arent able to do what those players did.

When you saw. Arcellna play it just seems…easy. Like unevitable. Goals will come and there is nothing the other team can do. Sometimes it seemed like they didn’t even p,ay for 70mil in a game 😂😂. Bit that kind of play to be perfect has special needs. You need players to be very very good on the ball to be able to navigate in those tied spaces. Players who need er loose the ball. Player who can mange the temp and others who can dribble past their opponents. If not you will just had the ball but nothing never happening. A lot of player are not that good in the ball. That’s why a lot of teams have a version of that possession Barcelona mindset. It not really a tiki taka. To have the perfect tiki taka you need they obedient player who never go outside their box and that one who can create chaos…😂😂like Messi. Not easy to have

That second goal had nothing to do with tiki taka. That was just messi shooting the ball really well into the corner from outside the box. This video is kinda ridiculous. Also the 5th goal by suarez was a basic goal that any possession based team would score.😒

Position your head properly, especially if you are blocking something in the video like captions. You should be aware of these things. Increase your awareness man, and you will move up the ranks much more smoothly. Simple things like these matter. Coz people notice them. And you talking too much is sometimes a bother. But, you should stick with that. It's like a specialty of yours. You know, there will be people who like them, people who dislike them and people who hate them. Doesn't matter, you stick with your natural response to the video and that makes your reaction videos unique. If not, every reaction video would be just the same.

Rinus Michels invented total football. Johan Cryuff modified it by adding more defensive concepts like the "libero" (I believe it's called sweeper in English). Guardiola redefined it by adding a multi-positional concept where all players now had obligations both in defense and attack. This, by the way, extended to all of football and that's why now keepers have to know how to play with their feet and forwards have to know how to defend
