Dan, thank you for a thorough review of the new Fender Jazzmaster! If Fender ever made one guitar that does it all, it would be the Jazzmaster. The clean tones, rhythm circuit and overdrive sounds you dialed in are impressive. Outstanding work, thanks again!

Hey Scott. My pleasure. I honestly, really enjoyed playing the jazzmaster. A very underrated instrument indeed. I think it's better than the strat to be honest. It's not got that exact single coil strat sound but if you're looking for versatility, man, this is an awesome guitar to add to the test list in a guitar search. Glad all the sounds worked for you. I had fun playing it. What is your guitar of choice then?

@@FretSuccess Dan, my “guitar of choice”... I’ve owned quite a few Telecasters and Strats through the years. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve added Rickenbacker and Gretsch guitars to my collection and I really enjoy their unique sounds. After seeing your video I realized that I’ve never owned a Jazzmaster . My next acquisition will be a Jazzmaster...thanks in part to your wonderful demonstration on KZbin! My best.

@@scottmeli That's cool man. I've never really fallen in love with the strat. I appreciate them for very particular sounds but I just think the tele plays better and has a better sound for what it's designed for. It's such an underrated rock guitar. I'm delving into the world gretsch much more recently and think their budget line is fantastic for the money. I must hand it to the Jazzmaster, playing this model blew my apprehensions away. Fantastic instruments. keep me posted on your Jazzmaster journey and appreciating this conversation!

@@FretSuccess I decided to add a Jazzmaster to my collection . It’s a beautiful Miami Blue model in the American Profession II series. I’m totally blown away by all the sounds this Fender can make. From glassy Strat tones to Telecaster twang to Jazzy tones that Leo Fender hoped would attract hollow body players...it’s all there. Add in the vintage and modern coil tap function and you’ve got limitless possibilities. Your video helped me to decide I had to have one...thankfully my wife agreed! Thanks and my best to you.

@@scottmeli I'm so pleased for you Scott!! The Miami Blue is an awesome color. I think if I was getting on, it would be that color. I'm really glad that the video I did helped you make a decision and that you're happy with it. Sounds like you have an extra special wife. Enjoy the new axe. Let me know when you decide on a name. It’s a good move by Fender to reposition the trem screws so they no longer snag the low and high “E” strings. Nice to see the rhythm circuit back on the Professional Jazzmaster.

@@FretSuccess i dont play in bands as such these days over the hill lol.But to me with the neck pick up you can get a really beautiful blues sound out of it while using a ts9 or my favourite "the duelist" but i also love that indy sound of the 90s 2000s and the neck pick up does that no worrys.There really versatile and they really have a chime.A good friend of mine is a drummer were trying to talk a bass player into having a few sessions im really keen to hear it turned up,Great review its a really sweet guitar

I ll guess and say the reason they have the roller dials up next to the rhythm switch is bc if there were standard knobs you would hit them with your hand while playing ?

I agree that the neck almost feels like plastic. I have a Pro II and a Pro, and the Pro’s neck is very smooth and feels more wood-like. However the tremolo on the Pro II is exceptional. I also agree with you that the Jazzmaster is a very good Stratocaster alternative. Great demo- you did a great job of bringing out all the tones. This is definitely a very nice guitar.

Hey Mark. I'm yet to play the pro. I have a video about the new suhr classic s and they've gone for the satin neck also. I must say that I'm a big fan. But it does take a bit of adjustment so you're not overshooting on the frets. Haha. Appreciate your feedback and comments. There's a demo of the proii strat coming this week. Which do you prefer the pro or proii? Yes, the trem is very nice.

Nice one dude. I loved testing it out. The mercury is a cool color. How are you finding that vintage circuit?
@astraljose
@astraljose 3 жыл бұрын
@@FretSuccess I love all the options for tones with the vintage circuit compared to the first American Professional Jazzmaster I have. The difference is remarkable. However, there's something unique about the APi jazzmaster that prevents me from selling it.
@FretSuccess
@FretSuccess 3 жыл бұрын
@@astraljose yeah. I thought the vintage circuit was great. Even just as a lower gain option when playing live. It's so versatile this guitar. Do you prefer the pro or proii? And why?
@astraljose
@astraljose 3 жыл бұрын
@@FretSuccess I think I prefer the proii. I went into a music store wanting to buy a new amp and grabbed the proii out of curiosity to test out the amps. I bought the amp and a month later I couldn't forget the sounds of the proii. It offers more tone options like the traditional jazzmasters and it's got all the better modern upgrades. It felt smooth, like I didn't have to even consider getting a guitar set up or think of any upgrades of how to make it better. But like I said, the pro also has its own unique sound which has been largely criticized for not sounding like a real jazzmaster. It's a bit ironic that Fender released a modern jazzmaster that its intended market doesn't like / want, just like the original jazzmaster.
