This has to be one of the most intricate movies in history. You literally CAN’T accurately depict a psychopath without being a little psycho yourself. Heath Ledger and Christian Bale are oddly enough the best examples of this. Practicing very hard to capture that image. I have so much respect for them. Patrick Bateman was coherent and pretty wise, but a complete loonie underneath the hood. I know a million people have said it already but, flawless performance seriously.

Hands down best movie of the 90's - even if a bit accidentally. Is challenging to really understand this story, even the makers didn't really understand the novel this is based on, and have also said that themselves later. But as a hint: it's not a violent movie but instead a psychological one, where no-one gets killed (except maybe that homeless person and his dog in the beginning, not 100% sure of them). Absolute masterpiece, also the acting is incredible.

Narcissists do because shame is a public emotion. In the end he said Patrick Bateman would be a malignant narcissist. He said this because a psychopath will typically never turn themselves in because they feel in their minds that nothing they did was wrong. Patrick attempted to turn himself in which resulted in his own opinion of the character. :)

It wasnt just because Paul Allen had a nicer business card than Patrick he also had a nicer view of Central Park *and* mistook him for someone else in the office. He had it coming..

At 5:20 Patrick has to return some video tapes. Don't you people understand the PRESSURES we were under in the late 1980's??? If you didn't return your video tapes ON TIME, you were charged an extra $3.00 per day, per videotape!!! In fact, it wasn't paying the extra money to the Blockbuster Videotape Store, it was just the sheer CHALLENGE of watching the tape BEFORE the "deadline" & also getting it returned BEFORE the "deadline". #SoMuchPressure

I don’t know why but when Patrick was monologuing about how he “wasn’t there” in the mirror, I related to that.

Bale played that role perfectly.

The first 20 minutes before the first kill, is amazing. They make him really likeable and have like 2 moments where his psychotic tendencies shows through. It’s amazing.
