Looking good for 66 CV . This did shock me as to how great a rendition it was. I’ve known of him since I was 17 , I’m now 70 and I’m realising just how great his voice was. I do hope he gets it back after his surgery last year. They say he is singing around the house so I’m hopeful. Just three years ago he was singing his most popular songs in the same key as he did in his twenties. Unheard of with a normal voice. Thanks for finding this gem, it was priceless.

I have heard and seen John since his first song was released he is such a consummate performer he can sing anything blues pop rock Broadway musicals i believe there is nothing he could not sing that would not be as good if not better than the original version and then he is a song writer aswell John is the complete package a total entertainer do some home work on John pick any live preformance you will never be disappointed cheers from OZ

Twice I know of that John sings in different languages. The Spanish duet, Granada, with Anthony Warlow from the Main Event concert. Anthony Warlow is Aussie opera royalty (well known here as the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera). And then there's this gem I've spent all morning hunting for 😄 search for John Farnham - German Folk Song LIVE.

And all in the days before auto-tune! Remember those days? The days where if you got up on stage and couldn't stay in tune the audience'd throw stuff at you! And shout; ' GET OOORFF!" Such a young, fresh faced John, with cute pageboy cut, standing there looking like your average one-hit wonder pop star, and then he opens his mouth - and does THIS ! He always was The Real Deal 'our John! and not a single singing lesson, just opened his throat and out came a G.O.A.T ! { Hi from Tasmania 😄}

John did go stateside in the 70s before signing up with Glen Wheatley. It's reported that the agent didn't know what to do with him. So, he put him in a side lounge at a casino and billed him as "Jack Phantom"... imagine how demoralizing that would have been. While over there, Glen invited John to an LRB concert and after returning to Australia, John was determined to give it one more shot. He signed with Glen who promised him, as a mate, he would never have to work on a stage if it wasn't a packed house. John did an album and then with trouble occurring within LRB, he was asked to front the band, which he did for a few years, but he was still compromised, simple singing other people's hits, back home he was broke after having picked up LRB historical album debts.1983, he left LRB to concentrate on being solo. He recorded the Whispering Jack album & You're the Voice single, showing everyone once again just what he was capable of. It launched John and his voice was back up to the top, he packed them in decade after decade. John was forever grateful to Aussies for giving him another chance. Thank you to Glen for backing his friend and this incredible talent and to John for not giving up.💞 PS, as a side note, John and Glen never had a written contract, it was just verbal, one mate to another.

You should have a listen to a 50 year old John Farnham doing a rendition of an eleven year old Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five's 'Who's loving you?' It was recorded for his 50th birthday 'get together' and features Australian 'boy band', Human Nature. It's pretty impressive. And speaking of Georgia, there's a version of John doing John Lennon's 'Imagine' with Ray Charles too, THAT is amazing.

I think you can only find audio for them both, here on KZbin, unfortunately. Yes John sings opera lol. I think I saw someone say he's sung a song in German too. He performed to over 100 thousand fans in Germany with You're The Voice. Now that is a video worth seeing too. It's a memorial concert for a songwriter from a band called Stars The Andrew Durrant Memorial Concert It showcases some of Australia's best rock artists of the day. It's worth watching Other artists to check out Russell Morris Swanni The Black Sorrows Broderick Smith Richard Clapton Axiom Brian Cadd Masters Apprentice Cold Chisel Rose Tattoo The Angel's Mondo Rock Wendy and the Rockett's Jet Boom crash Opera Party Boy's, with Randy Meisner from the Eagles. I have heard him do Georgia before, it was in his youth and b&w, but not seen this one before. He did a rendition of simon and Garfunkel's, bridge over troubled water, around the same time. Some of his old stuff, he tries to ignore, for good reasons, for him, it's still great stuff, but hey the man's been singing so long, it means there is so much, even aussies haven't heard it all. Dr Kap does very well, letting us know. Recently someone at channel 7, probed in the archives. They found a lot, that was not used in years, they are calling them the lost tapes. This could very well be one of them. I'm just glad someone thought of looking to find them. He did the swing style on hey, hey one time that i saw, on you-tube. That may have been while the brassteds, 3 brass instrument players, from Sydney, were playing with his band

😂😂😂 I'm pretty sure there were a couple of people who suggested this in the comments of your reaction to Bridge Over Troubled Water. Fun fact about this performance, I believe it was the first time David Hirschfelder on keys played with him and his reaction was the same as yours - wow this guy could sing anything he wants. For background David later joined LRB and then went with John into his solo career and was a huge part of his musical direction for his 3 most successful albums. Suggestions - have you listened to LRB Reminiscing? There's a 1983 remastered live version on KZbin that is very good. And also you have to save this one up for xmas if you're into xmas - LRB Silent Night at carols by candlelight. Some other suggestions: Reasons, We're No Angels. There's also an amazing performance of Who's Loving You with Human Nature.

This was probably on a TV show, in the period when John was struggling to be taken seriously as a legitimate singer. Believe it or not, to many people he was just a teenage pop idol. It took Whispering Jack to finally establish his credentials and he hasn't looked back since. I have always loved the way he interprets the songs he sings, and of course his voice !!!!
