7:27 it's crude reverse psychology. By empathising with him you put yourself in the same boat and then can't complain. That's why sometimes the laughs turn into groans because it takes a few seconds for people to catch up. I think he does it on purpose cause he likes the groans as a substitute to no laugh at all. When he breaks character and starts laughing, it's usually unintentional, chance humour. This tells me he tends to jump ahead and assume the punchline but appreciates being pleasantly surprised.

I'd probably be one of those comedians with individual jokes one after another. Unless its one of those jokes that needs elaboration, then I'd take a moment on that one joke. I guess it depends on the comedian's style. Some do it in story telling way. I used to imagine them saying joke after joke with no connection. Even the ones who really did have other jokes, some of them would take a moment to touch on it, then they would go to the next joke and touch on that for a moment, same with the third joke, and so forth. Mixing the two styles together. So, it depends on the person's style. So many do it in the story telling way, so that's what we're used to.

I’m a fan but his comedy is generally ‘one liners’ with a few very short stories thrown in. He’s very good at putting hecklers down but is an acquired taste, comedy wise. Jimmy’s also a very hard working celebrity as you’re aware from his hosting of quiz shows etc. If you prefer story tellers then may I strongly recommend Billy Connolly & Jim Jefferies who are both hilarious. Micky Flanagan & Lee Evans are other great comedians you could dip into. Best wishes 👍

For my comments on Jimmy Carr I refer to Mandy's reaction. Maybe you can divide comedians in an ingoing and outgoing genre.
