The Dark Joke at 8:52 "no, he hasn't mentioned it so far..." is in relation Michael Barrymore's (a very popular light-tv host and entertainer in the UK at the time) Late night pool party; Barrymore had yet to out himself as gay, had invited numerous gay men to the party for sex, drugs, swiming and drinking. During the party, one young man drowned in the pool, in still unrevieled circumstances, possibly even murder. It is safe to say it was the end of his career. In Jan2021, Police have arrested 2 men from the party, still waiting on further developments!

One of the jokes in the set-up to this episode (often the set-up in Father Ted episodes is a joke in itself) is that Ireland is a small country and while there will be a few domestic flights, the idea of a jet airliner such as this taking longer than an hour to cross the country is somewhat ridiculous.

This is the first time watching where I noticed a lot more extras were in previous episodes than I thought. Yes, there's Graham Norton and the monkey priest, but also on the plane are the 2 priests that got called a pair of w***ers by Father stack, the coloured man from Donegal, showwriter Graham Linehan as the man who thinks God will save them, and Pauline McLynn as one of the nuns. Also in maybe 2 or 3 seconds during the emergency warning, you see the priest that won the sports day trophy in the background. I also swore that the man who loves Graham Linehan was Leigh Francis/Keith Lemmon for the longest time, but its someone else. Fairplay to another commenter who also spotted Joe Rooney as Damo Lennon across from Dougal. The camera never really gets a clear shot, but he is there. This is what happens when you marathon the whole series!

I've only been on a plane, out and back, once, in 2016. I remember my sister saying it's not like this, a couple of days before. Funny, but when you've been afraid of flying your whole life, you still have a nagging thought in the back of your head. In non-flying based scenarios, meanwhile when I have been scared of something, I do relate to Ted being pretty much on autopilot to get through it. It's weird to look back on the thing you did and think 'how the hell did I survive?' One of the best lines in the whole show for me is "WHAT AM I DOING ON THE FECKIN' WHEEL?!" Just priceless.
