St Andrew 🏴.. Three Englishmen were in a bar and spotted an Scotsman. One Englishman said he was going to piss the Scot off. He walked over to the Scotsman and tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey, I hear your St. Andrew was a sissy," he said. "Oh really, hmm, I didn't know that," said the Scot. Puzzled, the English man walked back to his buddies. "I told him St. Andrew was a sissy and he didn't care!" he said. "You just don't know how to set him off. Watch and learn," the second Englishman said. He walked over and tapped the Scotsman on the shoulder. "I hear your St. Andrew was a transvestite!" he shouted. "Oh, wow, I didn't know that, thank you," said the Scotsman. Shocked beyond belief, the Englishman went back to his buddies. "You're right, he is unshakable!" he said. The third Englishman said, "No, no, no, I will really piss him off. You just watch." The Englishman walked over to the Scot tapped him on the shoulder, and said, "I hear your St. Andrew was an Englishman!" "Yeah, that's what your buddies were trying to tell me," the Scotsman replied 🏴

Every year it's a friendly battle as to which national song will out do the other in the emotional stakes; Scotland's or Wales' Men of Harlech. When the Rugby Union Five Nations (now the Six Nations) tournament was on every year when I was a kid it was always the favourite part for me. Full disclosure ~ Wales always won for me, but I have lived in Scotland now for very nearly twenty-three years; which is kind of amusing. I love this country now, but I love it when either country beats England, where I was born :-) kerk

Flower of Scotland" (Scottish Gaelic: Flùr na h-Alba, Scots: Flouer o Scotland) is a Scottish patriotic song commonly used as an unofficial national anthem of Scotland. Written sometime in the mid-1960s by folk musician Roy Williamson, its lyrics describe the victory of Robert the Bruce, King of Scots, over Edward II, King of England, at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. Owing to its historical basis in the Wars of Scottish independence, the song urges contemporary Scots to rise again as an independent nation and remember the day their ancestors deterred Edward's English invaders. Notable for its association with supporters of the Scottish national football team and Scottish national rugby union team, "Flower of Scotland" is one of the most popular sporting anthems in Europe.

The Scottish were tribes from Ireland that crossed over to Northern Britain 1500 years ago over the period of 200 years . We fought the Picts and Britons eventually founding the country of Scotland . We are a nation of Scots Picts Vikings and probably have someone from every nation in the world now . Come for a visit 🏴❤👍

so you're not the real scots,you invaded from ireland and got rid of the indigenous people of the northern british isles and called it your own after conquest?...wow
@Whiskey0880Ай бұрын
Were the people before them real scots? Or those before them? People like you are very selective in who gets to be "indigenous" . Frankly, people like you have very little of value to say on any subject. I know you believe otherwise, but it's obvious you're prone to believing nonsense.

The Picts were also from Ireland but got to Scotland first,and were steadily forced north becoming the highlanders and the southern part being Scots run,if I remember my history they had different languages and religions.

They are singing about our history , edwards army is the king of england who wanted to take scotland. The movie bravehearlt is about exactly this (even though the movie isnt entirely accurate, it is true that scotland had to fight england who wanted to invade us)

I’m Scottish and only started watching your channel recently and I like it. Scotland is a very old country. We used to be Celtic tribes in the pre Roman times and then the romans came and we remained tribes and resisted the romans and we were one of the few people in history to do so. Then after the fall of Rome we we invaded by the angles and the Saxons who later became the English. England is angle-land in modern English. The English and Scottish had an 500 year war called the Anglo Saxon wars. It then stopped after the Norse invasion of Britain by the Vikings in the late 700’s where Scotland was mostly conquered by the Norse. It then became just a small territory of clans that teamed up with the Anglo Saxons to defeat the Vikings and then the Norman’s of France invaded all of Britain. They re established the Scottish throne but our king James died in the Middle Ages with no sons and created a civil war in Scotland between all our clan nobility. In this situation the English reasserted their authority over Scotland under the rule of king Edward the first. We then fought the Scottish war of independence against him and won our freedom. Gaining national heroes like William Wallace and king Robert the Bruce. And our national anthem is a song in remembrance of this moment in our country’s history where our national heroes fought and died for our freedom. Which btw we later gave up again in another religious civil war 500 years later but that’s another story

“Mostly conquered by the Norse” not even close to being true this. Also the vikings were “defeated” at the battle of Largs, against a Scot’s army, no Anglo Saxons present.

Now you Scot Nats want, unelected bureaucrats in Brussels to rule our affairs 😂
@hashburystumble8808Ай бұрын
@@arod9998 Scotland wants to be ruled by the people they elect to run Scotland for the benefit of those who live in Scotland. The majority of those in Scotland voted to remain in the European Union by 62% & this has since risen to 72% according to polling. The latest poll from Norcast on behalf of the Sunday Times put support for independence at 54% rising to 59% if Royalty were rejected as Head of State.
@bygoneera9521Ай бұрын
@@hashburystumble8808 I never trust polling. That aside, Iv never met anyone that wants to rejoin the EU, not saying there aren’t any but I don’t believe these figures. One of the problems is that most polling puts independence and rejoining the EU in the same bracket, very skewed.
@hashburystumble8808Ай бұрын
@bygoneera9521 What a ridiculous statement that you have never met anyone who wants to rejoin the European Union. You may not "trust" polling but your opinion of the results is even less trustworthy to anyone with half a brain.

I am a Scot and watching you guys watch our team sing our anthem and get emotional like that, had me in tears. I am always greetin' a wee bit when I hear it but it was lovely to see you appreciate it like that. You asked what the song is about - Its a song about the victory of Robert the Bruce of Scotland over King Edward ll (the 2nd) of England at the battle of Bannockburn. When it talks about us 'rising' and 'being a nation again' it is speaking about us reclaiming our independence... and that we still can. Thank you for your video!
