It's so funny to think that, when Only Fools first started, I didn't think I'd be able to see David Jason as anyone but Granville. Of course, now I know he's so talented that I can alternate between both shows without a second thought. And as for Ronnie Barker... you could imagine Norman Stanley Fletcher walking into Arkwright's shop without thinking it was the same man.

@@keithjones6023 Rising Damp, is one of my all time favourites. It was way ahead of it's time, and again, simply wonderful writing coupled with great comedy acting. Leonard Rossiter as Rigsby is one of the most hilarious comedy characters ever.

@@Sara_Kane Rising Damp is one of the best TV sitcoms ever. So many great episodes, l loved the one with Spooner the wrestler breaking his leg on the stairs after tripping on Vienna the cat. Later Rigsby fears that he has killed Spooner after shooting him for playing his radio too loud. Another is the episode where Rigsby has to pretend to still be married in order to receive an inheritance. Miss Jones masquerades as his wife. Hilarious. So many more great episodes, wouldn't have time to list them all! 😄 Great supporting actors also helped to make the series so funny.

@@keithjones6023 Aww Vienna! I love Rigsby's explanation for how he named Vienna in the pilot episode. 😂 I won't say it though, in case bxkid starts reacting to the show, which I hope happens. :) So many episodes are personal favourites, and contain some wonderful comedy moments. And I'd agree that Leonard's co-stars helped greatly in making the show the classic which it is. It's a shame Richard Beckinsale wasn't in the final series, although it is still fine nonetheless.

David Jason had a real talent for playing different ages, he was in his mid to late thirties doing this, but completely convinces as an errand boy, in is early 20s. He had impressed as a very old man in Porridge earlier, and was the original choice to play Corporal Jones in Dad's army back in 1968, aged only 28, though they went with the more famous and older Clive Dunn.

Yes ,agree that I thought he was miming, having a huge dog I. thought the sound was a car exhaust. There was an episode in which there was a man who would come into the shop straining on a leash, at the other end was a huge dog,except you didn't get to see the dog. The Man would grab a loaf then be pulled back, then strain again and come into the shop quickly put his money down.He would be pulled back out of the shop by his huge dog. Classic.

You can see why this is my favourite episode, it’s packed with so many moments. Me and my best mate quote this one the most. “Stop or I’ll fir, fir, fir..” “beautiful, one was bigger then the other.” “When you started watching bbbbbbbbbbbbbb. It’s no good you know I can’t understand morse code” “Where have you been!” “I just wanted to tell you both” If I keep going I’ll end up typing the script out. Lol I thought the can under his arm was a tire going flat first off.

Although saying "our Eric" may strongly imply that the baby belongs to both her and Granville, in northern England people refer to all family members as "our [insert name here]". For example Arkwright might say to Gladys something about "our Granville, but this is just because he is Granville's uncle. It wouldn't mean that Granville has anything to Gladys

Have you noticed some items priced at Half Pence? Because back in those days the UK had 240 pence to the pound. Like if you had 240 Cents to the Dollar. Which would be mad! haha. Until 1971 when our currency was changed to 100 pence to the Pound. Great reaction bro!! :D
@keithjones60233 жыл бұрын
The series didn't start until after the new decimalisation currency was introduced in 1971, the halfpenny was still legal tender until 1984 when it was discontinued.

About twenty odd years ago as a kid I found a half penny coin in the middle of the road, which I thought was odd since they were demonitised and withdrawn in 1984.
@PerryCJamesUK3 жыл бұрын
The actual reason we had 240 pennies to the pound was because 240 can be equally divided in more cases than 100 can be. 240 doesn't fall apart if it needs to equally divided by 3. Most European currencies were originally counted in 240. It seems so funny to me though as I came along in 1974 but my parents could instantly tell you how to do really complicated (to me) division.
