Not being into football, I had to google why Diego Costa was called "the elephant man". The answer from some guy was hilarious - he explained that "They're poking fun at how Diego Costa's face looks like a freeze-dried turd poorly sculpted into a head by some rejected Austrian artist."

The other day at the AFCB vs Luton match Tom Lockyer suffered a second cardiac arrest in the 65th minute after previously suffering one back in June 2023. It was heartbreaking to witness but both sets of fans chanted his name which goes to prove football really is the beautiful game as us fans always stand together at times of need.

The Liverpool target for the Harry Potter chant is actually a former Liverpool player and one of those who the Liverpool fans loved so the chant was also a respect thing - as jonjo shelvey demonstrated with his giggle during the chanting

This chant was started when we were winning 3-0, but the game had become dull. So they started the chant about a man eating a pie, and it went on for around 5 to 10 minutes, with new verses being added.

As someone who has lived in Swindon since the 80's, it definitely made me smile seeing JT mention the football team and try to pronounce the name of the town 😂 (it's pronounced like Swin-dun) Random bit of history regarding the Town name, it used to be Swine-down which means pig hill, as it started life as a pig farm on top of a hill

The melodies are all very well known from song, hymns etc The lyrics are very simple and on repeat so are made up on the spot others are existing and some words or clubs changed Some can be made up and when sung are easily copied by others especially if the melody is really easy

The pie was likely bought from the refreshment place in the stadium - given that the reason we have pies here is so that football supporters had something clean and fast to eat. The sauce probably came from a server or a steward...

The elephant man chant is more than just a nose joke.. It's based on the movie The Elephant Man which is about John Merrick. He was a "sideshow freak" in the Victorian ages because of his physical appearance. I can't remember the name of what he suffered with but it was some abnormality in the body tissue..

The best chant I’ve ever heard was Hibs fans to Hearts fans about the Hearts manager Graham Rix, who once went to prison for statutory rape, and they sang to “If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next” and swapped the word “This” with “Rix” Close second was when the late Andy Goram reportedly had a mild form of schizophrenia and the crowd chanted “There’s only two Andy Gorams” 😂 Gosh, we’re grim but so funny.

at a local game for aberdeen fc, i once heard them chanting at the ref "the refs mums a whore, the refs mums a whore, and shes fucked all the blokes in the stands" over and over, and i remember the ref throw a tantrum and just walked out of the game, reason they did that was the ref was known to take bribes on the side to rig games, so anytime he popped on field, the entire crowd would harrass him into leaving, this went on for about 2 years before the ref quit citing ""verbal abuse" as the reason but we all knew its because everyone knew he was crooked

How the British come up with football chants EXPLAINED: Before the game all fans of the same team gather in local pubs so they can get drunk before the game. In the pub there will be jokes and banter and people will develop songs by starting chants in the pub, many times it will be the tune of a catchy pop song with the lyrics changed that's how everyone knows the rhythm. If it's a funny chant it will end up being sung at the match. They will also sing all of the old songs from years past. So eventually each football club has a catalogue of songs. They will also try out chants during games and if they're good they will catch on and others will join in. If you try and nobody joins in it's embarassing as hell but part of the culture. I hope that explains "how we do it", we are the kings nobody can ever come close to our football culture. Next time: Lessons on football thug clothing and the official European football fighting rules (we have a lot of fun with our European counterparts), and the away day travelling culture of supporting your football team when they're on the road - I have seen games WON by fans, 100%. We are a PART of the game when we are in attendance, I dont really know how to explain that part it's just synergy...all the players used to be football fans in the stands you understand?
