When did the UK abolish slavery? Legislation was finally passed in both the Commons and the Lords which brought an end to Britain's involvement in the trade. The bill received royal assent in March and the trade was made illegal from 1 May 1807. It was now against the law for any British ship or British subject to trade in enslaved people
@blindarchershaunhenderson37692 жыл бұрын
Slavery was actually made illegal in the United Kingdom in 1086 by William the conqueror but it was never challenged in court until the 1800s, the British legal system requires that are low be challenged in a court of law in order for it to become generally accepted and then receives royal approval which is why it was 700 years before it actually became empirical law but it had been banned since 1086, and confirmed by the church synod in 1103. On top of that British Nations were constantly raided by the Irish and the Moores to take people for sale in to the North African and Mediterranean and Byzantine slave trade, the British people have always been the subject of slavery we were made slaves by the Romans the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings, and the Irish and the Moores until we put an end to it under William the conqueror.

Historically, this led to the system of convict leasing which still primarily affects African-Americans. The Prison Policy Initiative, an American criminal justice think tank, cites the 2020 US prison population at being 2.3 million individuals, and nearly all able-bodied inmates work in some fashion. In Texas, Georgia, Alabama and Arkansas, prisoners are not paid at all for their work. In other states, prisoners are paid between $0.12 and $1.15 per hour.

hey King, do you have a fish tank in that room that my headphones pick up sound from? Or a water cooling PC fan system thingy? Just wondering. I'm imagining a fair sized tropical fish tank in that room, with neon lights at night haha Enjoyed this and it was a fascinating YT video, nice pick & thanks! But oh boy you cut his ending talk off at a really bad time at 23 minutes 11 seconds! rofl :D

That skyline you thought might be Seoul is in fact Pyongyang, capital of NK. Like everything in NK, it's all for show and the reality is very different. The massive structure in the middle is (or maybe was when it was built) the world's largest hotel, but hardly anyone stays there (obviously) and inside it's a complete shithole. There's some pretty good videos on YT of people who've travelled to NK as part of their tourism (!) program; a great series to watch is the Vice Magazine one with Shane Carruth
@jeanackle2 жыл бұрын
I remember watching a documentary on that hotel and, I may be wrong, but it never actually got finished. All there ever was of it was the concrete structure, nothing more. So no one ever stayed there. I might be wrong though; it might have been partially finished and working at some time, but definitelly never in full. Looks good in that picture though.

Britain or the UK was one of the first to use slaves? Before the Greeks, Romans, Carthage, Egyptians China, I could go on! England came to eminence in the 16th century. By the year 1807, it ceased trading in slaves and further stopped slavery everywhere it found it, stopping ships and freeing slaves. Causing a skirmish later with the US in 1812! The other one pushed is the British love of rule Britannia. This song came about in the 18th century when British navy ships chased North African corsairs who were enslaving "white" people taken from villages on the coast and from ships, selling them in the slave markets in their native lands. This because of the weakness of the navy during the English civil war, ending around 1670, the navy being then built up by Cromwell? By the way the slaver pirates flew a red flag, as had the Templars. This became the "jolly Roger" a corruption of le Jolie Rouge. False hatred by fake news, reinforced by haters, jealous of our history. The lies of flies!

USA - freedom? Workers are tied to their jobs to receive medical insurance and thus there’s no capability for advances in salaries and work benefits. Those without jobs and ill are pretty much abandoned. So, the richest country is true for the few, not the many.

OK Boomer again not your fault but I must point out this TYPICAL American CODSWALLOP, that the British started slavery. Allow myself an ancient historian to give you the other side of the picture. The first word meaning 'FREEDOM' was the ancient SUMERIAN word called AMA-GI it literally means 'RETURN to the Mother' as SLAVES when freed where often returned to their mothers. Again this is ancient SUMERIAN of around 3500 BCE. So given this knowledge do you think its a bit difficult for the British to have started slavery? May i point out the blacks were freed some THREE HUNDRED YEARS before the USA and may I also note that convicted felons in YOUR country are classed as slaves. The British outlawed slavery in our lands in THE 16TH century and i shall quote ' England is too pure an air for a slave to breath in and therefore any slave will automatically be a free man when he first sets foot upon English soil'. May I also remind you about William Wilberforce and John Newton (his teacher and writer of Amazing Grace song) weRE English and more Wilberforce came from the sacred sod of god's own county (takes hat off in respect) YORKSHIRE! :) So again we were way ahead of the USA on t hat, black solders rights again decades ahead of the USA see Battle of Bamber Bridge to prove this. We British don't always get it right that's true but when we do we are WAY and lightyears ahead of the USA in basic civil rights and proven too. So in the Uk slavery is outlawed, everywhere even in prisons. In the USA convicted Felons ARE slaves. So given that: British were the first in modern history to give women's rights Suffrajets Black Rights Outlawed Slavery Developed laws for the common man Developed a Bill of rights Developed the SECOND version of the Magna carter and...... the provisions of OXFORD (800 years before the usa existed) can you not see how one-sided and silly this video is, now that you have been given this information? So in essence UK no slavery , USA highest amount of slavery in the world as you sadly have the largest amount of incarcerated citizens per capita. Kindest Regards
