It’s the very first iteration. Obviously it’s not going to be at Eurovision standards yet. That also means that less artists knew about it. I feel like in the next few years it’s going to be a lot better, but if you wanna hate just because it’s the U.S then go ahead

Yeah, though there were a couple of bangers and songs that probably wouldn't ever exist/hasn't ever been seen in Eurovision, like any of those typical country ballads (still in love with Idaho and Maine), real caribbean reggae vibes, trap/rap (like full on, not just inspired or partial), soul as from Macy Gray and Allen Stone (not sure if that last one is even soul tbh, but it's definitly not something we'll be seeing in Eurovision), or whatever Sisqo, Jake'O (Wisconsin) and Ryan Charles (Wyoming) brought to the stage. Btw the only reason I'm not mentioning Nevada (an absolute masterpiece), Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and even the U.S. Virgin Islands (the charisma on that man!) even though they stood out greatly is because they would've actually been a couple of genuinely possible Eurovision entries, like I could actually see them on the real Eurovision stage and I'm sad they weren't. Also Kansas and Rhode Island are masterpieces, but not partically special in genre so I didn't mention them.

Watching Eurovision I always wondered what an American Song Context would look like, thanks for this! I agree with others that the quality is not always there and some of the songs are very generic. I mean, "feel the love" and "feel your love"... "sad girl" and "bad girl"... "fire" and "fire it up".... "wonder" and "wonderland", are these songs written by ChatGPT? But fair enough, it's the first edition and it's nice to see some recognizable names like Jewel, Michael Bolton, Macy Grey and Sisqo joining. It's got potential.

a lot of these songs are forgettable af. it boggles me how they dropped out some gems out of the selection and picked the generic ones

because that's what works best in the US. Copy-Paste Popsongs with 0 memorability except for being "THE (summer) hit of 20xx". They really thought they could pull off something like Eurovision when America isn't nearly as (culturally) diverse as they pat themselves on the back for. It's 55 Songs in English and 1!! in Spanish that's how much the US loves their Diversity. The only thing they got going on for them is the Genre Diversity for sure but if that is the only thing then i much rather prefer Eurovision 😆
@kllause6681 Жыл бұрын
was gonna say... there were maybe 10-12 really good ones, but the majority was either smth you hear on the christrian radio station, or was generic 2016 pop music.

Lowkey gives me "Eurovision in the 2000's vibes" 😄 They never did "Eurovision Asia", right? Because THAT would be either really diverse and spectacular or more like Eurovision in the 60s if they included as many countries as possible while trying not to offend anyone 😆

@lemonieeng2695 Жыл бұрын
As someone who is Asian (living in Asia) that watches Eurovision, I honestly don't want Eurovision to come to Asia. Because within Asia there are so much more military conflicts compare to Europe, and generally some countries just hate each other. Like China-Japan-Korea, and China's special administrative region like Hongkong and Taiwan. Plus Asians are competitive at literally everything, and would not be as united as Europeans.

"Worst Season Ever." "Oh no!" "Oh no!" "Oh yeah!" *crickets* "Oh yeah! Disco Stu is liking alexa's Disco Music! Mh!" Seriously tho, most of these songs are so.. bland. Only like 2-3 stood out. And honestly, I really don't think Americavision is gonna be a success. The problem with it, is the fact that it is still the same country. And that means that no matter what state you're from, the music culture is still the same, and the states has no other reason for it, than the competition. The reason Eurovision works is because of all the different cultures that is represented by each country, and the fact that we are trying to keep war away from europe as long as possible by coming together through Music. That's why Eurovision is so big and that's why America won't be as successfull as Europe in this. A for effort, but D- minus overall. 👋🇸🇪

Exclude all the country, swap out half of the black singers with white singers, add like three ethno-pop songs, and u've got Eurovision - all in all if their intent was to copy Eurovision they did a stellar job
@jaredsmith4964 Жыл бұрын
They didn’t really copy Eurovision. The final was a top 10, they had 13 more entries than Europe has ever had, they split it up into 5 semi-finals. Like they did their own thing. The fact that you’re trying to gatekeep a song contest is embarrassing
