The chorus in Wonderland is as catchy as any song I've ever heard. And her performance was a masterpiece.

As an American fan of Eurovision who is also enjoying ASC I really enjoyed this video. I laughed a lot! And being from the state that sent Kpop and a Kpop fan since the early 2000s even I’ll admit that I was stunned when I saw AleXa was representing Oklahoma! My sister and I both were like: “ummm Hanson, Garth Brooks, The All-American Rejects, Carrie Underwood, Kristen Chenoweth, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Leona Mitchell, Jacob Sartorius, Greyson Chance are all people here know and they pick someone whose popular in Korea?” Turns out, though, there’s a large Kpop fanbase in Oklahoma (as my niece has pointed out to me since she’s a Kpop fan). So just goes to show how much I know about the people in my own home state! LOL

Tbh though, I haven’t watched the show but I think one big misconception I see a lot of people make about the U.S. is assuming it’s all just one giant culture but it’s really not. The US has a ton of variety of culture. The culture of California is extremely different from Texas which is different from New York, Florida, Idaho, etc. You’re right about the language thing though. Would be cool to hear songs in different languages.

They might not be identical but there definitely is a common culture thread that unites all of the US, which doesn’t really happen with Eurovision. Honestly when I saw AleXa`s performance I thought: Wow, this ASC thingy is fire, we must be loosers, how often does the ESC produce something so great ? We should allow more people on stage as well. Then I saw the rest of the entries and I realized America understood the assignment, this is really American Eurovision and 15 people on stage can be overwhelming when it is not AleXa, of course. I hope she wins and they invite her in Torino.

AleXa will probably win the contest, so comparing her to the entire Eurovision lineup seems very unfair. Also ESC 2021 produced multiple really good performances and songs (e.g. Italy, Ukraine, Finland, Switzerland, France) Eurovision has way more ethnic and unique songs than ASC, so if you prefer ASC you probably just have a very "american music taste" (pop/country) In the end its all personal taste I guess (this is not meant to be offensive) And btw I disagree with removing the stage limit from ESC because in most cases it backfired for the songs here.
@blurefr2 жыл бұрын
@@euroguy6786 I will say though that I think ASC's stages are better than ESCs. Yes the stage is small and ESC still has amazing stages, ASC has a huge variety of stage concepts with almost every song. The number of people on the stage really depends on the staging. Wonderland does great with having more than 6 while other don't and songs with only 1 person on stage are still nice.

I see some comments about the ASC about not being good and kinda monotonous and all, and yeah, to be fair, the songs this year kinda reminded me of the early 2000s ESCs, where the ESC was stuck in its own bubble. There are some nice songs for a show like this in this year's ASC (AleXa, the New Boots Grovin' guy), and you gotta still give credit to the artists on stage. Their music might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I mean, it's not like the songs of the ESC are always great and groundbreaking and stuff. Give it maybe 2 or 3 years, and I think the ASC will attract some really great bangers and most of all: more diverse genres (which, to be fair, is way easier to accomplish in Europe, but doesn't always hit the mark). It does help in my eyes that Michael Bolton takes part in this contest. Some artists probably need someone really big and iconic to perform well to maybe join themselves another time (like Ilse DeLange for the Netherlands, who didn't want to take part in ESC, because she thought that she wouldn't place great anyway because it's the Netherlands. However, when Anouk, a big Dutch star, got a Top10 spot in 2013, guess who represented her home country the following year and secured 2nd place. At least I read that many years ago, I don't know if I remember that correctly).

Basically no one watched the ASC, and I think a lot of it was that none of the artists were acts the people of the state voted in. With Eurovision people care partly because they sent those specific songs and artists to the contest, but in ASC we had our representatives chosen for us and the specific songs were revealed during the contest itself. Good for suspense I guess, but not good for investment. I hope they copy the European prelims next year if they do it again. And also does Oklahoma have to host now???

1:01 GOOD BYE as someone who lives in Portland, it’s not Portland without being chased by a homeless person

Definitely not worth getting VPN I'm not going to watch boring stages without an unnecessary huge amount of fire and light effects just for the straight adaption of the greatest show in existence Only Alexa is good, but only because I like her kpop songs and that fall was impressive 🤷♂️

She does sing live, keep being pressed, you probably like that girl doing the chicken noises, the only relevant from eurovision

AleXa absolutely deserved her win! She slayed every performance! I don't care if it's "supposed to be a song contest". Most of the other contestants bored me. But AleXa gave it her all time and time again!

This feels more like a Melfest than the eurovision equivalent it was supposed to be
