American Spitfires - Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V 1/48 Eduard

Today I show you a model kit of Spitfire from Eduard company. In my opinion, it is the best mo-del of this legendary plane on a 1/48 scale. As soon as the Spitfire Mk.V kit appeared on the mar-ket, I couldn't resist and immediately started building. The new version of spitfire Mk. V came out in a dual combo edition with marks that were used by pilots of USAF, hence the name of the kit „Eagle´s Call“. I was even more pleased that there are machines with desert camouflage among the markings. The planes serving in the tropical climate were very worn out. I tried to indicate this on this model mostly with oil paints. You can judge how I did it in this video.

Excellent builds! Two "small" details: the Rotol props have wooden Jablo blades that cannot have metal (silver) chipping except along the narrow, ~1" brass leading edge protector strip; the mk V exhaust manifolds are manufactured with steel (Inconel) having very high nickel content, so, no rusting, only exhaust staining.

Ty masky na kamufláž Spitfairu, jsou jen upravené kamuflážní schémata z návodu. Na kopírce jsem si je zvětšil do měítka 1/48.

Ani nevím, kde jsem ji koupil. Někde na soutěži. Stála pár korun (60,-?). Není moc přesná, ale jako "prodloužené prsty" stačí.

Krásná práce. Měl bych dotaz. Když použiji akrylové barvy a lak, mohu na to nanést olejový wash?

Díky za pochvalu. Záleží, jaké akrylové barvy používáte. Akrylové, vodou ředitelné (Vallejo, AK int 3D, Revell Aqua...), by měly být odolné proti olejovým/syntetickým washům. Já ale vždy před washem používám lesklý lak od GSI, co je laquer.

It's nice of you to tell us what you're doing (although we can see that) but it would be a lot more helpful to tell us why you're doing that ^^ I.e. WHY did you start painting the model straight away without priming it?

Thanks for the feedback. And why apply a primer? Mr. Color colors are perfect and do not need a foundation. Mr.Surfacer is needed if we are going to sand or putty. Or if we need to unify the surface from other materials.

Mr Colour. Dunno where you get "C- Series" from? It's either Mr Colour or Mr Hobby - lacquer or acrylic respectively. Why further complicate the paint description? I only say this in respect to people re-entering or beginning. MATE!

In our country it is a well-known name: Mr.Color = C serie and Mr.Hobby = H serie... But I understand that it can confuse someone. Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Did you know that humans are the only lifeform on earth capable to assemble something as fragile and detailed as a model so perfectly because their/our sensory capabilities outperform that of machines? Humans are i.e. still employed in car factories to manually final-check coats of paint because machines can't physically find uneven/imperfect spots as well as humans can...
