Oh yeah, it's Ties van der Hoven with a group called weathermakers doing the Ecosystem Restoration work near Lake Bardawal on the Sinai. So, please see if a search in the Guardian gives a fair article about greening the desert. Because it's really an amazing story and the engineer would be happy to project the future extent of forests and higher water table which will happen upstream as a result of the work there. The fishing season has begun on this huge lake. You might like the fresh fish there. I'd do it if I was as close as you are. Thanks for thinking about it/reading about it.

What a great experience you are having. Palestine is full of surprises. So ancient and mysterious, lots of layers of history and a cable car ride! Shame about not being able to explore the caves but what you did share was awesome. Maybe you can visit the Dead Sea next, it’s meant to be therapeutic due to the high density of salt. Cheers ✨😊

Gabriel if you do end up going to the Dead Sea you MUST stop by Masada. From the Dead Sea if you chose to continue on to Eilat make sure you stop at a Archeological Park where the Royals from Petra lived. I forget what it is called. I hope you got an Israeli Pass to avoid paying entrance fees at every archeological site.

Are israelis forbidden to enter the west bank?
@EvaOwen
@EvaOwen 10 ай бұрын
@@magnuspersson1433 Israelis are prohibited from entering the areas that are controlled by the Palestinian Authority. But of course after the Six Day War (1967) until the establishment of the Palestinian Authority the “West Bank” (as it was named by Jordan as it is west of the Jordan River) was open to Israelis. There was a main highway connecting Jerusalem to the Galilee that ran through the Jordanian Valley (close to the outer border fence with Jordan & went through Jericho) that Israelis used during the daytime hours as it was quicker than the more circuitous route in the direction of Tel Aviv. (Of course that option no longer exists and I think an alternate route now exists.)

Your Palestine videos got me nostalgic when i went there with my family in 1999. I was 20 and my parents had just bought a camcorder so we took more videos instead of photos which in hindsight wasn’t a good idea coz i like looking at photos to help me remember stuff. Don’t know where that camcorder is now. I remember that restaurant tho, it looks even better now, but don’t remember taking a cable car. I googled and found out it started operating in 1999, so either it didn’t start operating when we were there in June or we didn’t ride it.

You should experience the Dead Sea once. It isn't my favorite thing, though - it's very thick and goopy and there's a sheen on it that looks kind of like oil. But once you get out of it and wash off, your skin will feel amazing. Be careful, however, washing the water off - it is very easy to get it in your eyes. I have done this. It HURTS.

Again as an Israeli it's always funny to me to see how little tourists know about the context and recent history as well as human complexity when they visit my country. At 3:37 Gabriel is learning from a Palestinian about the dates groves that the Israelis planted. All these straight lines of palm trees were planted by Israeli farmers who grow these dates and sell them in Israel and abroad. Like everywhere in this dry land, the Zionist Jews develop the land as best as they could and inspired their Palestinian and Jordanian neighbors to do the same. Israeli instructors teach share their knowledge, tools and seeds with their Arab neighbors - like greenhouse agriculture etc. You won't hear about this on CNN I bet or from people who are so fast to condemn Israel for everything bad that's happening on earth.

You can do it brother!!! Channels like Gabes inspired me!!! The man has been traveling for like 30 years now! He’s an amazing man! I’d really like to meet him one day and shake his hand!!!
