"Middle East" is a fundamentally flawed Western-invented term that mashes different cultures, ethnicities, and languages together into a single mass, but because it does include Türkiye and Iran, those two do technically fit in this video about the "Middle East." However, on the more positive side, they are also there for comparison between them and the Arab cultures they are adjacent to. We see how they are clearly different, but we also see how they have influenced each other over the course of history as neighbouring regions. They have their own distinct cultures and identities, but they can also highlight some connections and similarities, which is what makes this kind of content great!

@@casper-z9rkls6glYou are heavily distorting these verses and they don't prove anything. You know, it's funny you commented that because Flat Earth beliefs are relatively rare among Muslims and are generally not supported by mainstream Islamic interpretations. Ironically, in some Christian fundamentalist groups, Flat Earth ideas have seen periodic revivals. It is paticularly really funny you mention this because, in the Middle Ages, the Islamicate World had a more established belief in a spherical Earth than Christian Eruope. Islamicate World's scholars built on ancient knowledge, like Hellenistic astronomers among other astronomers, expanded, advanced and challenged their ideas; like Ptolemy's geocentric model. While Ptolemy described a spherical, Earth-centered world, scholars in the Islamicate world largely accepted and proved Earth’s spherical shape, were supported by the claiphs, taught the model and they made substantial contributions to astronomy, geography, and navigation that assumed this model. Scholars like Al-Biruni measured Earth's radius with remarkable accuracy, estimating it at 6,339.6 km - within 1% of the modern accepted value of 6,371 km. His work, Al-Qanun al-Mas'udi (The Mas'udi Canon), was translated into Latin, studied in Europe, and referenced as late as the 17th century. Al-Farghani, another significant scholar, wrote Kitab fi Harakat al-Samawiyah wa Jawami Ilm al-Nujum (The Book on the Movements of Celestial Bodies) in the 9th century. Which was translated into Latin in the 12th century where it became a core astronomy text in European universities during the Middle Ages, the "Renaissance", and up to the Scientific Revolution. In fact, Copernicus cited Al-Farghani in De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium. In fsct, had it not been for Al-Farghani, Christopher Columbus might've not have "discovered" America. Colombus notably relied on Al-Farghani's measurements and calculations, but he misintetepted them, landing him in America rather than Asia. Fun fact, for his contributions, lunar crater "Alfrangus" is named in Al-Farghani's honour. And these are not at all isolated examples. Voltaire, the 18th century Enlightenment writer and intellectual, writes in his signature work Essai sur les moeurs et l'esprit des nations: "By the 2 AH, the Arabs have become the masters of Eruope in the sciences and the arts." Scholars from the Islamicate world were pioneers in these fields, and their work profoundly influenced European science and exploration for centuries." and the Arab world really fell very, very recently.

I hope Indonesian Muslims watch this video too, because many dismiss our own traditional practices like burning incense or carrying amulets as shirk or bid’ah, assuming Arabs would never do such things. This mindset often comes from never visiting the Middle East or North Africa or meeting people from there. If they did, they’d see things like lighting bakhoor for good fortune or using the evil eye for protection are common. Maybe then they’d realize the MENA countries are often more open-minded than they think, while Indonesia is growing increasingly conservative.

To be honest with you, most things they mentioned, and you mentioned as well, are bid’ah. They are either taken from other religions like Buddhism and Christianity or old superstitions from before Islam (like the black cat or crow thing). I even know some Muslims in Egypt who started to do the ‘knock on wood’ thing because their Christian friends do it (instead of saying Ma sha allah). The girls in the video most certainly are not Hanbali. They might be following Sufi or Shia practices, but you wouldn’t see these things in Sunni Hanbali households. I'm not telling you to stop doing that or anything, just letting you know that the people that told you are right, and it is Bid'ah that has no evidence from the Quran or the Sunnah, if you want to accept or refuse that is up to you 😇

They don’t realize that even in the Middle East and North Africa, these cultural elements are present and generally accepted. You encounter all kinds of ethnicities, religions, and languages in Asia, and nobody seems to have an issue with THOSE videos. Same with Europe. Sweden is nothing like Italy, but nobody is complaining that they are both in the same video. The differences are what truly make them engaging and informative, especially in an era when many people mistakenly view all Middle Eastern countries as identical.

The problem is that Türkiye is not in the Middle East. There is no such place as the Middle East. It's a term coined by Europeans to belittle the countries there. My God, you are insufferable. Who the fuck said Iran and Turkey is Arab? Also, all the people in the "Middle East", whatever you want that to mean, are genetically extemely diverse. "Arab" has 2 definition. Either genetically majorally Arab. Or identifying with Arab culture. Most Egyptians are the latter and don't have a problem identifying as Arabs. However, there is also a bit of a movement, still in its infancy though, that aims to reverse Pan-Arabism.
