Unless you have faced a life trying to live with HIV, while others you know/love around you die, you cannot know how hard it is. It's hard to complain about almost dying, about having to have one's hips replaced, about having no fat cells left on one's calves, about meds making us sick every day, with deep fatigue, while our friends lie cold in their graves. Today, I have hope. You cannot know what that means to me, after 27 years on meds, watching fearful friends die of AIDS, because they didn't want to go through what I went through. It was that bad.
