A massive theological movement has been sweeping through the Church in recent decades. Millions of professing Christians around the world believe that God is restoring the lost offices of apostle and prophet to church government. They claim these restored apostles and prophets are needed to usher in a global end times revival by delivering new revelations and performing great signs and wonders. This modern apostolic and prophetic paradigm has been called the “New Apostolic Reformation.” Though there is some debate over that label (NAR), the core issues place a demand on all Christians to respond to these claims of authority.
Has Christ Himself sent these new apostles and prophets to His Church? These are not trivial claims. If God is truly behind these leaders, then Christians of all denominations need to start heeding their words and implementing their teachings. Christ and His apostles warned us that false prophets would come, and that we would know them by their fruits. How do we Biblically judge the fruit of this modern apostolic and prophetic movement in truth and love?

i used to be apart of this movement... when i left, i lost my faith and so did my best friend. one day it just hit us, like "what are we doing?" i began to hate the christian church and all my family who was apart of it, i even got my wife to do the same. after a long journey of hatred and betrayal, i found the real Jesus in His Word. i am saved by His grace now. pray my friend comes back to Jesus, too.

I am looking forward to this documentary. As someone whose grandfather and two different cousins are pastors in NAR churches, and also someone who was taken to a healing conference as a teen suffering with OCD, anxiety, and suicidal tendencies. I can say first hand, this movement not only represents scripture falsely, but leads to looking at God like a genie, divination through scripture, and then ultimately to disappointment and doubt when you continue to strive and struggle after a certain amount of faith in order to bring healing or rid yourself of a spirit. The peace comes when you realize that there is a will, and a purpose for everything God does, and it is always good. My struggles produce steadfastness, that bring glory to God. I can trust him in that, even in the suffering, and that brings peace.

My FORMER WOF Church believes that if you spoke the Word (The Bible).enough times, on topics like healing, and you had enough "faith in your heart" God would basically be "forced" to heal you because "The Bible says so." Also, if you SPOKE to all of the "mountains" in your life, they would HAVE TO move, according to Mark 11:23...This is some weird twisting of the Scriptures...I was in the WOF Church for over 36 years and I "escaped" about 2 years ago (for which I will be eternally grateful).....

Hmm… I bet there are more like me out there. I was raised going to revivals here and there. They’d always see me doing my sign language and at several points people would attempt to pray for my healing and nothing would happen. They’d quietly shuffle away and whisper about me when I wasn’t looking. I love the Lord. I believe He is sovereign and can use the pain of this life for his glory. He’s given me everything so he can take anything He wants. The charismatic movement has done so much damage. Forgive them Father… they don’t know what they’re doing. Open their eyes. If you can use my pain to do so your will be done.

@@caroleimani9754 It doesn't matter what label you like to put on things. The question is whether it's biblical or not. It's very important what the true gospel of Christ is, once delivered to the saints. I'm not a Calvinist but I'm not stupid. People like to label sth "Calvinist" and then write off anything they don't like. What part of the Gospel of Christ or teaching is this documentary getting wrong? It's not whether you believe in the gifts of the Spirit or not, but If you are not preaching the gospel that saves souls or reflecting the true balance of what scripture says but rather a cotton candy version of it that leads to false conversion, or starving and sickly sheep, then you may be sending some people to hell, or laying heavy burdens on sheep that affects their life in Christ. Whatever is representative of what the scriptures truly teach Is most important. Most people upset with this film are insulted that their favorite personalities or favorite beliefs are in question. Then they throw darts . It would be much better to offer scripture that corrects whatever you think is wrongly presented and please avoid cherry picking verses out of context. Then you'll have an argument to listen to.

Can't wait to see this. Having been raised Byzantine Orthodox on one side and Pentecostal on the other, I was saved at 13, taught about the gifts, but not as something to seek after. My grandad always told me to ask God to mold me into a vessel for His glory. I went to a church later that started to follow teachings of "Wimber". My gramma warned me about it. Suffice to say, the Lord brought me out of it. I do believe The Holy Spirit moves in healing as my moma was born dead, at home, my grandparents prayed, she began to breath, color instantly returned and the Dr and the midwife gave their lives to Jesus after hearing the good news. BUT... I have a retarded brother and a quadriplegic son. Could God heal them, yes!!! Has HE recieved glory through them? Yes!!! Should we pray for them to be healed? YES...but learning to give praise when the fig tree fails to blossom....and to ask The Lord of Glory to transform all of us into vessels that can be used at all times. MARANATHA!!

I'm apart of the charismatic movement and have been for 10 years. Since 2019 I've wanted to see the church be unified in Christ whether they're charismatic or reformed. I felt like crying when I saw the end of this preview because I almost felt like my prayers have been answered because it seems as though there's genuine conversations happening on both sides of the body of christ, which was never supposed to be divided in the first place. My heart has broken over and over as I've heard leaders of my own tell me that "Baptists quench the spirit" or hearing baptist friends of mine say "Charasmatics are heretical and blasphemous". I'm glad to say that I've been a bridge to that gap in many circumstances, and I hope this movie will help the body of Christ at large come together. There are real false teachers out there, I believe there's flawed ones too, and I believe the distinction between those are incredibly important. What I've observed is people on both sides genuinely trying to seek after Jesus, both as best as they can through their understanding of scripture. Please join me in praying for the body to come together in truth and in the name of Jesus, despite our theological differences.

@Andy Norton it really depends on what you mean by charismatic. a lot of charismatic "christianity" is new age and literally of Satan. I was in a cult that operates very similarly to Bethel. A true Christian will not be united to the beliefs and practices of Bethel.

@@lonmayer130 I'm sorry that your experience in it was poor. I've found myself in a place of being critical towards the charismatic movement in what I would hope to be a constructive manner, and likewise with the reformed. I've been in a toxic charismatic church, and a healthy one, and I went to a charismatic school that had toxic teachers and healthy ones alike. I've also been to a good number of Baptist/reformed churches and it's the same thing; toxicity in some, and health and a focus on Jesus in another. I, a charismatic, do not seek a higher level of signs and wonder, I seek to see God glorified, and I see that happen in both reformed and charismatic settings. I appreciate your input, but I have no interest in abandoning one side of the body for another, rather committing myself to the body as a whole and enabling unity where division has been created.

@@jennprescott2757 I appreciate what you have to say. I'm sorry that you found yourself in a negative environment like that, but it sounds like you've made it out and for that I'm grateful. The thing I find interesting is that I hear a lot of reformed folk call the charismatic church as a whole demonic, and likewise some charismatic folk call the reformed church demonic as well. Yet both of them intently study the scriptures, and in both of them I've met loads of people genuinely seeking after Jesus and wanting to make his name known. I think you'll find that there's a lot more in common between charismatics and reformed believers than you think.

I, also, am a former Pentecostal. Praise The Lord, HE opened my eyes to the Truth of The Gospel! In the Pentecostal church, i attended, everyone had the "gift of tongues and/or prophecy . I didn't! I always wondered why and I was taught that I didn't have these gifts because I had unforgiven sin or I wasn't doing enough of something for Christ. I was so downtrodden in my faith because of the lies I was told. I would fall in and out of being "on fire" for Christ and that was always something I was distressed about. Now I know why! I was living in a false salvation under the worst, abhorrent false gospel. Praise The Lord Jesus, HE opened my eyes and now truly indwells me! I never understood what it meant to be a New Creation in Christ because of the lies! Now I know what it means and how wonderful it feels and what truly a miracle it is! I'm a happy cessationist grounded in The Word of God and able to walk in The Spirit because HE lives in me! I am a filthy rag and worthless, but Hallelujah YHWH does not see me, HE sees HIS Precious Son in me!!❤❤❤❤❤

God will lead you to the right place, perhaps he has you in a season of just deepening your spiritual intimacy with Him? I’ve had such a season, and it has been wonderful and completely fulfilling, but He reminded me all throughout not to forsake the assembling of myself with like-minded believers. I found fellowship first with my family, those who stand on God’s Word as infallible and preeminent, then He led me to a church filled with sincere and genuine Bible believers who preach the true Gospel of Jesus…what took time was my inner healing, in all honesty I was bitter and angry coming out of the NAR movement after God rescued me from its deception, but instead of running to find truth I withdrew and isolated. I pray you don’t do the same! I pray you dig deeper into God’s Word and fellowship with Him as you seek His will and guidance for your life, all the while forgiving those who deceived you and praying for their restoration. You’ll know when you’ve truly forgiven someone or a group of people when you can pray for them…and while you’re in this season, be open to God sending you to a church to fellowship with like-minded believers with perhaps a different name or denomination than what you’re accustomed to, because He not only wants you to be fed and encouraged but He has plans to use you to encourage others because of your testimony! God bless you! I pray peace, rest and healing upon your life as you navigate through this season 🙏🏻

There are several church finders online I recommend. Founders, the Master's Seminary alumni Church finder, and 9Marks. Make a list of churches you want to visit and use discernment and prayer when you visit. I suggest you visit each church multiple times either because 1) there's no perfect church and it could be that you dislike a good solid church based on only one sermon/service or 2) you could like a church based on only sermon/service but it ends up being a not very solid church.

I feel the exact same way except I still attend and serve in the WOF church. I'm scared to leave because it's not exactly going to be unnoticeable if the church's only keyboardist suddenly stops coming. Since I found out about the errors of the prosperity gospel and the WOF movement, I've lost every motivation to be there but I still go cause I have a duty to perform... And also because I'm scared of the questions I'll be asked and the relationships I'll lose.

Went through Toronto blessing down here in Australia and must say it was an eye opener. Tunnels of fire people knocking down chairs etc I said Lord if this is truly from you I will receive it and nothing happened when I went down the front. I stayed in the charismatic Pentecostal movement for about 20 years and one day in church the Lord opened my eyes to what was happening there and I left. Lots of wasted years and no real fruit in my life. Sola scripture changed my life as I heard it preached for the first time and it changed me from the inside out. I’m more a reformed type of man these days and have grown in His word. Still can’t take all the charismatic out of me I still love to left my hands unto my Father in Heaven when in worship.

There is nothing wrong with lifting your hands in praise to the LORD. That's not what "charismatic" is about what is being criticized. It's more the other stuff like "acting drunk" and laying on the floor with spastic movements and claiming it's from the LORD,, and all the false twisted teachings to justify things like that. The issue is not the worship itself, or people being hungry for the LORD, we are meant to hunger for righteousness, we are meant to long for the return of the LORD and call for our bridegroom to come, Maranatha, but the false teachings of the NAR movement which twists the scriptures and deceives so many is not getting you there. We need to know the Word of God. Worshiping God in spirit and in truth does not stop you from lifting up your hands in worship.

Tongue's was Judgement on Israel just like The Lord Christ Jesus speaking to them in parables. They rejected The Lord Christ Jesus their Messiah and opened the current age of Grace to the Jews and Gentiles. This nothing compared to what the Antichrist will show the unsaved. Acts 2:4-18 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God,I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bible.kingjamesbiblelite.buy

I was at Catch The Fire for 8 years and was 'eating the meat and spitting out the bones' which was how we were told to deal with things said that we didn't agree with. @JS Adendorff I can understand where you're coming from. Sickeness isnt always healed in this life. Jesus leaving doesn't necessarily mean he wouldn't heal those people, he just had a mission. He did do those acts to show he was the Messiah, the expressed will of God! (John 1) God's will is for everyone to be saved. Will everyone be saved? No. I find the same can be said for healing. He wants us whole and healed but because of the fall and things we may not understand healing doesn't always happen in this life.

It is entirely possible to be charismatic/Pentecostal and call out false apostles and prophets - the apostle Paul was baptized in the Holy Ghost and yet he called out "super apostles" n his letters to the churches. It is entirely possible to operate in the gifts of the Spirit if you're born again according to 1 Cor. 12, while at the same time exposing those who are fake. It takes discernment, not an all out rejection of His gifts.

When charismatics say we need to act on our beliefs vs learning more about them is a cop out. It insinuates we know enough, and nobody ever knows enough. Thank you for this trailer AGTV. I have to say that it is very fair of y’all to present the “other side”. One thing that strikes me is this…almost all of them refer to the “fruit” of the movement all while acknowledging that a lot of the foolishness that took place at the Toronto Blessing et al was just that…foolishness. Hopefully in the full version we will see film or excerpts where these men are rebuking the foolishness and calling the people to repentance and righteousness. IMHO, they capitalized on it and did nothing to discourage the strange behavior. We shall see I guess.

On this topic we have 2 extremes, both of which I believe are incorrect and unbiblical. 1) The uncontrolled schisms and occult practices we see implied here by NAR. 2) Cessationism.
@Obi-Wan81
@Obi-Wan81 Жыл бұрын
I think that some people label cessationists as believing that God doesn't heal anymore or operate in the spiritual gifts anymore at all. I would class myself as being in that camp, but do I believe that God does and still DOES heal today? Yeah of course. Why would I believe that the creator of the heavens and the earth can't still heal today, when he is the "same yesterday, today and forever"? I've also heard numerous stories of missionaries in the jungle being able to miraculously speak in a dialect or language to speak the gospel to people who haven't heard it before. Is that an act of God? Yes absolutely, and an incredible one of which I'd love to see more of and experience! But what I have a problem with is that I simply don't see anyone with the apostolic gifts of healing today for example. Does Bill Johnson or Benny Hinn heal people at random by their shadow falling on sick people? No, of course not. If we TRULY saw someone with the ability to do that through the power of God, then where would these people be? In hospitals, going from city to city, from country to country, emptying all the hospitals of sick people, with a huge train of media in their wake recording all of their miracles. But we simply........don't see those things. And you have to ask why. So do I believe that God can still operate in signs and wonders today? Yes of course, I would be a complete fool to think otherwise. Do I think we see modern day apostles today wielding those gifts in incredible power like we say in the New Testament? Absolutely not. I think if you were to talk to a cessationist today who said that they don't believe that God can heal today - then I would personally be challenging them as to their understanding of God from a basic level lol!!!! So there's my cessationist view point for you.

I recently had a conversation with a friend who sat under Sam Storms (who I understand will be in this film) for over a decade. She is now fully in the NAR - physically following people like Lou Engle to other states to attend his "communions." She doesn't filter what she believes now through the scripture. She filters it all through a charismatic lens. If you try to share something from a sound, Biblical source that happens to be from someone who is a cessationist, she refuses to watch, read or listen. So when Dr. Brown says that he can produce a film showing the opposite of this one, he's doing exactly the same thing my friend is doing. Filtering through his belief (that he thinks is true) while refusing to see another view - filtered through a Biblical lens. The Bible tells us to test the spirits against the Word - not our opinions or beliefs. It's incredibly difficult to get people to understand that. I even shared resources with my friend from Charismatics who are warning against the NAR and she wouldn't listen because they came from me (a cessationist).

I know for sure that if it wasn’t for the disability my relationship with *Christ* wouldn’t be like it is, I’ll probably be lost. I was born with a neurological disorder called Charcot-Marie-Tooth, which has caused among other things my feet and hands to be deformed. I know you didn’t ask for my advice. But my advice to you is to keep praying for your son of course and to love him dearly with not just words but with action. Sometimes people don’t get the love at home that they need and at times people outside the home are the ones that show them the love and care that they need. You also want to set limits, which means don’t let him take advantage of his situation to squeeze you. I don’t know if I’m explaining this right, but *sometimes* a person with a disability can take advantage of their parents who care for them and parents are drained and burdened. I personally heard of a case where the mom ends up drained almost every day. I will pray that your son has an encounter with *Christ Jesus.*

I do apreciate many of the critic of the movement though, and apreciate the inclusion of those other minded guest, I think the charismatic movement should receive the concerns and let it shape their theology, but I can't agree that it is an either or. Dr. M. Brown made a great point, you could do many full documentary for whatever pre-supposition you may have if you just short out which story's to tell.

We started praying and then as we were praying he yelled “tongues” into each of our ears. Lo and behold, many of us started speaking in “tongues.” It took a year or two for me to be convicted that this was manufactured. Didn’t seem like a gift at all but something to force on someone by teaching them. That’s how a lot of these “revivals” are. Yes, God does work wonders even in them wherever the gospel IS preached.
