This is funnier if you know the character from the show: Elaine Figgis is absolutely desperate to find love so tries to marry a death row inmate, and a conman, and uses a sperm donor etc but it always ends badly. The irony being that Daniel Craig is a hunk but she's not interested. It's less laugh-out-loud and more tragicomic, which Brits are usually adept at.
@bravo2966
@bravo2966 Жыл бұрын
Well thanks for explaining that the irony was he was a hunk but she's not interested, we wouldn't have picked that very subtle thing up otherwise.
@slashdisco
@slashdisco Жыл бұрын
@@bravo2966 Er, well yes, that bit's obvious. I was referring to the irony of her always falling in love with losers in previous sketches, yet not being interested in the hunk in this one. Deliberate obtuseness is no substitute for wit.

Thanks slashdisco for explaining it. The whole point is that we all know how gorgeous Daniel Craig is. But I guess Americans just don't know Catherine Tate enough and therefore DON'T GET IT. Try to re-imagine this sketch with Carol Burnett playing Elaine Figgis. Also watch some Catherine Tate. She's so clever and funny.

Comic relief and children in need stuff can be a mixed bag . Performers are doing it for the charity and subject to availability for filming contributions . Both charity nights have produced some really great moments that feature combinations no one would have dreamed of , but some are hastily put together which may apply to this one .

Quite a lot of British comedy mingles with pathos, Alan Partridge does this at times too. Sometimes it's really quite sad, but it makes it more poignant and show something deeper. Sometimes I feel sad watching Carl Pilkington.

Sean Connery will ALWAYS be regarded as the best Bond! Pierce Brosnan came across as a wet blanket!! You should watch Daniel Craig early in his career in a tv series called 'Our Friends In The North' which is currently being repeated on the BBC. Go back and watch and react to the original Bond movies ( the biggest movie franchise in history ) from 'Dr No' onwards. Fish fingers are what you call 'fish sticks' though ours are better than yours! The 'Newkie Browns' in the fridge is 'Newcastle Brown' ale, which blows your head off. Our Friends in the North is set there! You need to watch Daniel Craig playing Bond, when he is in the MI6 Headquarters in London, when Catherine Tate suddenly appears as Nan!!! It's much much funnier than what you just watched! HERE IT IS!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qn6oeKeArr57sLs 😂😂🤣🤣

It´s not haha funny. But I love this typically British cringy comedy clip. Great idea to cast Craig. He is one likeable guy who knows how to make fun of himself. As for Bond. I think Brosnan fits the profile the most, he kind of looks like somebody you would find on a paperback cover of a 1930ties crime novel... Handsome, gentleman-like, smooth... As a woman- yeh, Craig is the manly, sexy, rugged one.. I really want to try to watch at least one of his Bonds... Recommendations? I never really watched/finished any Bond movie, found it too boring (but I love the idea and the intros :D But he is such an interesting choice for this role... His face is almost Russian, sort of mysterious, rugged looks... and a good actor for sure.. So.. Which of his Bonds? Connery... kind of ugly? :) Don´t want to troll, just saying that I never understood that some people found him handsome.. :)
