It's a pastiche of horror movie cliches, some given a British twist, many a surreal twist.. It's also extremely metropolitan-centric propaganda in a sense.. It's very anti small town life, cruelly caricaturing it. It's kind of Little Britain with more joined up storylines for each character, all set in a horror movie. A few actors played all the characters, and they're all strong characters too. It's a masterful example of the mundane turned into intriguing mystery and lots of laughs black comedy.

KB, the show is like a dark comedy / part-horror soap opera. Some of the characters are easier to get into than others on first viewing, but after 1 or 2 full eps you will almost certainly get swept into the dark madness of it. Overall it is an outstandingly funny and clever series. The three main actors have talent oozing out of their ears. The actor in this clip you recognized from Game of Thrones is Mark Gatiss, he co-created the BBC series Sherlock (2010-2017). League of Gentlemen has lots of horror film references in it too. That 'We didn't burn him' sketch with the Scottish police officer investigating a missing person is a nod to Edward Woodward in 1971's cult horror film 'The Wicker Man'.

Hi there Didithathurt here and thanks for playing both the clips I suggested. I was supposed to be Didthathurt but had a keyboard stutter when I made the name but I didn't bother trying to change it when I realised it had the extra 'i' in it. Its my gaming name and I'll be streaming on Twitch soon with that name. The series really needs to be watched each episode in its entirety else its difficult to keep up with all of the dark sort of scenes, the taxi driver Babs is one thats really strange, its a bloke transitioning and he/she dresses as a woman in pink but has a hairy chest, really big dockers hand and a really deep voice. The vet Mr Chinnery ends up killing every creature he goes to save, the tortoise one is brilliant and funny plus another scene I can remember when he sets off on his bike and a dogs lead is caught in the bike and he drags it along, later on he's still riding and the lead is dragging along with one big bone still attached.

Chubby Brown's real name is Royston Vasey, which the towns name is named after in the program (the writers are fans of his). He did abit of acting in it as the Mayor. The three main actors you saw wrote the storyline for all of the program, along with one more that doesn't play a character (I think he is in one as an extra). The wife is Steve Pemberton, who plays Mick Garvey on a comedy/drama program called Benidorm. Full episodes can be reacted to and put on here, I've seen atleast two channels do it. I believe that these clips only work if you’ve seen the entire thing, in which stories evolve across the run of the series, and there are a colossal number of threads. Same with season 2 and ‘the special stuff’ plot. Series three are self contained episodes that only resolve at the end of the series. The Christmas special is a portmanteau of Hammer influenced comedy/horrors linked by ‘The Curse of Karit Pur’ which explains why the local vet, Mr Chinnery is so hapless and unfortunate (and funny). Good luck these days with getting Papa Lazarou on a YT reaction, although he is the stuff of nightmares and most fans favourite character. Me? I have a soft spot for Geoff Tibbs, the psychopathic failure with staggering anger management issues! There is a full length feature film and the plot of that is….out there. (I loved it).

Seriously dude, generally speaking, British shows hold more weight per episode because our "seasons" are considerably shorter, and there's zero throw away scenes from each episode. I'm not saying American shows are throw away, but with 25 eps per season generally speaking, there's a lot more room for filler. Where's British shows have a tighter budget and are a lot more focused on the story threads, especially in serialised shows like League of Gentlemen, where there's an overarching story woven within the episodes and even the separate seasons. Just for reference, my favourite American shows are Quantum Leap, Married With Children and Friends, maybe even 3rd rock from the sun, from the 80s and 90s. Sometimes watching a clip from a British show can be like watching a clip from Michael Jordan, having a bad game in the 72 - 10 season.

You're right about dark- it is very dark but, if you get into the style of it, absolutely hilariously dark! The writers/performers love horror movies and comedy, also, many of the characters are based on people they have met in real life- the shop keepers, especially Tubbs who was based on a woman they found running a little shop who was scared for no obvious reason and said things like, my husband is upstairs, he can hear. It took me a while to get into the series (and a girlfriend buying me the boxed DVD set)- but it is (twisted) genius and, if you like your humour served with a hefty dollop of twisted irony, utterly fantastic and unlike anything else.
