It basically means "the black woman walks with style" Celia was discriminated and brought power to the afro-latina woman, kinda like "yes bish im black, I walk with style, and im proud of it." she spoke her voice and was revolutionary. She is an icon 💗 this was also savage back then, everything about it was meant to show everybody what she's capable of. The "nude" part was symbolic for purity or showing her skin confidently and naturally, like saying "a black woman's skin is craved and longed for, you wish to have it" throwing shade at the racists. She spoke her voice with such style and uniqueness, she was herself and she loved herself. That gave the afro-Latinas or black woman in general more power and confidence to be themselves without fear of discrimination and hate. She was fierce and beautiful. Thanks for the reaction.

Wow!!! I couldn’t have said it better. Celia Cruz was a strong afro Latina woman with such pride many of us wish to have. All those people that don’t understand the meaning of this song will be shocked by the nudity but if they’re hey only new what the message is. By the way, she a had a skin tight nylon suit? I was told. She was never naked. It was actually a gold skin tight suit.

@@ria2000rda Yeah, I have the same pride in who I am and aspire to sing with my own voice, not one defined by some school or authority - her voice is so authentically hers. And the "nudity? Uh, she had on a gstring and gold paint as well. And shoes - lol. But most importantly the gstring. Toplessness for women is legal in many places. Andy why shouldn't it be, as men't toplessness always has been?

Tumbao does not mean "style", it means rythmn. She is saying the black girl has Rhythm and she doesn't miss a beat , the the chorus is the black girl has rhythm and even when she's walking she don't miss a beat.

haha.... americans and nudity. the "negra" in the video is guatemalan, many of the background people are cuban musicians. the video was filmed in mexico city. tumbao can be loosely translated as "swag". so the title would be "the black girl has swag". as someone else said in another reaction video to this song, "the nudity is affirmational, not exploitative" .

Don’t make these broad generalized comments. In Latin America and the Caribbean slaves were able to keep some of their music and traditions. Which were passed down. Cumbia, merengue, salsa, bachata, reggaeton , champeta, calypso etc.. all have African roots.

Celia is perhaps the most famous singer in the Western Hemisphere (rip).she was pretty old when did this song. Some of her stuff from 70s is amazing. There are different terms in Cuban and Puerto Rican Spanish,...think of meaning more like has her own style/vibe. Some of her songs can hear the Cuban terms/slang used not common in places like Mexico

I LOVE THEIR GENUINE REACTION. In Latin America things are a bit different we are raised watching the beauty that is the Women figure. We live in hot climates and their is nothing bad with nudity. Dipped in gold... I loved that. ✨✨✨ It's kind of fun to watch ppl from different parts of the world watch something like this. It really highlights the different levels of cultural conditioning. Lol! The US is probably the most sexually repressed society that ironically makes EVERYTHING about sex... We're nuts over here. Stay far away, other ppl of Earth. 😁😁😁 Given that Black Latinos are often made to be invisible in their respective cultures & countries of origin, this beautiful sista proudly strutting the streets, unapologetic in who she is, giving all the "I will not be ignored" vibes is powerful. #blackgirlmagic #weoutchea #invisiblenomore #diasporareppinstrong ✊🏾❤️🖤💚

I am a big fan Celia Cruz in the English translation of the song meaning meaning the black one has it. She is one of the creators of afro Cuban music and brought it all around the world she was able to bring it to the Homeland Africa she was able to perform at Carnegie Hall she broke barriers that if it wasn't for her and Mahalia Jackson. I've read her autobiography and it still makes me cry to this day. I remember seeing her on Sesame Street singing about a hummingbird from Cuba and I love her every since. Not Cuban, culturally speaking raised in a Hispanic family, I found in my family black skin was more celebrated than white. I remember my mom and dad checking out a black woman and commenting how beautiful she is or was. Dad, though we tend to come in different colors, considers himself black mix, while moms considers herself indigenous. The American culture is indeed more divided, which is the reason why they think it is a rarity to see Latinos celebrating each other.

Celia Cruz aka the GOAT- the model was not technically nude - this is a genius visual representation calling-to-action a self-assessment of the collective, an invitation to humanity to pay-attention-to and to observe the underlying purity of our essence and to expand our mind

Always funny to see black Americans react to and acknowledge the richness of black latino culture.

Actually Celia didn’t know the model was going to get naked in the video and when she founded out she was not happy 😆

In Latin America spanish N word is not taken as an insult, it just means dude and many times it is used as nickname

This one is more of an updated sound for her. Almost reggaeton tinged. . if you guys wanna dig more into the afro-latin stuff, you will like the stuff produced and/or played by Willie Colon. This one was sort of a "comeback" for Celia when the FANIA craze was going on in the 70s. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqa8h4qihrKtapo
