You started well,when watching Rugby league (NRL). But now you've gone to the dark side lol. AFL is the sworn enemy of the NRL lol. AFL is ok,I go for the Sydney Swans in the AFL, there not a bad team. AFL is played and watched predominantly in the states of Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia and Northern Territory. NRL (Rugby league) is played and watched predominantly in New South Wales and Queensland. AFL is massive in Melbourne and NRL is big in Sydney.
@patrickjohnson13092 жыл бұрын
Melbourne is the home city of AFL and Sydney is the home of NRL (Rugby league) in Australia. The NRL has 17 teams and I think 9 teams come from Sydney, Which include The Manly Sea Eagles, Parramatta Eels,St George dragons,Wests Tigers, Canterbury Bulldogs, Penrith Panthers, Eastern Suburbs Roosters,Cronulla Sharks and the South Sydney Rabbitohs. All the team's I named are teams named after a suburb of Sydney,in the NRL(Rugby league) the other teams come from outside Sydney. AFL is similar,but in Melbourne.

Rugby and Australian Rules Football (AFL) are two very different sports. And believe it or not Australian Rules Football is one of the oldest codified sports in the world dating back 160+ years. The Melbourne Football Club is recognised as one of the world's oldest sporting clubs pre-dating English Premier League Soccer and American Baseball. My team, The Port Adelaide Football Club recently celebrated its 150th anniversary. It's a good time to watch as we are now entering the final 4 weeks of competition with the finals round (championship matches). Our Grand Final (championship game) is set for September 24 and is a must watch for any sporting fan.

Hope you love the sport champ! Whether you’re just a casual or a passionate supporter like myself, you’ll love it, especially finals which is coming up in a couple of days. Rugby and AFL are completely different sports. Some people say that there is a hatred towards each other’s sports but the reality is that it’s just typical one eyed supporters from both sports just being idiots. I was born in probably the worst town in Australia to support AFL because it is a rugby league heartland. I was bullied through school and got beaten up and insulted all of the time, but as the years passed the sport got more acceptance in the town. Not to say that it’s given enough attention in the local media and the newspaper but I can walk into an NRL game in my hometown with an AFL jersey and not get insulted (I’ve done it before too 😂). Quite a lot of people support both sports like myself anyways so it’s not a big deal anymore. People like to pretend it is but it isn’t. The excuses to hate on these sports are stupid anyways, like seriously people hate on both sports because it’s “gay” and a “poofters sport” which are some of the worst and most pathetic reasons to hate a type of sport. Don’t feel like you have to pick between the two, they’re both great sports. My biased suggestion is support the Newcastle Knights and the Hawthorn Hawks but whatever floats your boat 😂

Hi boys thanks for taking an interest in our great game, Ill quickly run through a few things hopefully clears up a few more questions. First of all here are the 4 “football” sports played in Australia in order of popularity… 1. Australian Rules Football (AFL) 2. Rugby League (NRL) 3. Rugby Union (Super League) (World Cup) 4. Soccer As you can see, Aussie Rules is NOT rugby but our own invented game, the same as American football is your own invented game. Interesting fact though is that American football is in fact based off rugby and is far more similar. I think you boys would also thoroughly enjoy our rugby league (NRL) also as this sport is basically the same as NFL. Or I should say the NFL is rugby league with exception to the first pass being allowed to be a forward pass, everything else (5 downs turnover etc ) is much similar, defending team retreats 10 yards after each down. Rugby Union is the traditional game with scrums and no limits on “downs” you simply have to hang in there and find a way to take possession back. This is the World game where you can play for your country, you’ve probably heard of the famous New Zealand All-Blacks . Hope that clears up a few questions. I recommend watching the last 5 minutes (plus overtime) of the 2015 NRL grand final, insane ending on the last tackle. Also watch a State of Origin rugby league highlights package, absolutely brutal. And yes, enjoy exploring Aussie Rules also

One the best aspects of Aussie rules is that the teams are owned by the fans via annual club memberships. That is, in essence the game is owned in large part & run by team supporters, club members for their benefit. Those who support their clubs & teams most & betterment of the competition and game overall, not the profit and wealth expansion of club or team owners. Salary cap and draft pick rules also ensure that teams remain competitive whith each other and for expansion of game either by creation of new teams & clubs or relocation of older clubs with declining membership due to thier location and the subsequent demographic changes to their traditional support base over time. kzbin.info/www/bejne/laeom2Svn8ukgtE

Yes, the emphasis on the 50m lines is not required at all. He is totally wrong with the rules regarding 30 secs for a kick at goal. A player may take 30 secs outside of the 50m arc if the umpire acknowledges they can genuinely kick that far. So it's up to interpretation. Probably one of the oddest rules because it's reliant on player history, the umpire's memory or familiarity with the player, and even playing conditions.

It is not Rugby - nothing like it - This is a pommy (English) commentating this video - not even any Aussie - 'What is AFL' is a better video

Yeah a couple people have suggested that one. We know for sure this guy allows people to react to his videos, so we kinda just roll with it! We have our reaction to the top 50 Marks coming out tomorrow! Those highlights are insane!

This one is the worst video on KZbin describing our great game of AFL - find another one gents and react to that, this one is terrible……..

Do you have a link to a better one? This was one of the first ones that popped up when we looked up the rules to try and understand the game

@@RealFansSports - search for ‘what is AFL? Aussie rules explained’ …. Much better vid to react to 👍 then, search for ‘here comes the BOOM! (AFL’s biggest hits)’ 👍👍🍻
