A 99 is a vanilla ice cream cone with a Flake chocolate bar in it and it is Available at most if not every I cream vendors but it will cost you a lot more than 99p lol

A 99 ice cream from a tune playing van...is a cone, soft 'whippy' ice cream with a chocolate flake stuck in it. With your choice of flavouring on top. It won't be 99p though - you'll be looking at £2.00 - £4.00 depending on where you are in the country. Anything up to £5.00 in London.

@@stephendisraeli1143 It wasn't, it was introduced in the 1920s and they didn't have decimal currency then anyway, and even if the did that would have been about a week's wages😂

Just listen for a Ice cream van just like over there. You want a 99 with a Flake. Also check 1st if they use a proper mister whippy machine and not scoop from a tub.

In the UK, we now have Marmite on multiple normal foods. Even on chocolate & sprouts. Marmite is the word we use for you either love or hate something, whatever it is. And my pet hate is sea salt on ice cream or chocolate bars. Mind you, I do like honey roasted peanuts, that actually works well. PS: We have lots of sour cream & onions crisps (chips). They are delicious.

@simonrobbins8357 fair play but in the context of comedy ronnie might of fluft his lines but it did sound like onion plus there were some questionable flavours said & quite a few flavours unsaid like rum & raisin, peach melba,rhubarb flavour ,earlier he mentioned cosmopolitan that's just for rym because as we know its a drink & magazine. It's just comedy. Let's not read too much into it.its not too important in the grand scheme of things.

99s were never 99p, except maybe coincidentally one time. There are various ideas as to the origins of the name '99' but none of them are about the price. In fact, as it was invented in the 1930s, 99 pence then would be equivalent to over £60 today. So that's definitely not the reason.
@MaidinBritain
@MaidinBritain Ай бұрын
Copied from Google...one theory.. The name "99" for ice cream cones with a Cadbury Flake chocolate bar on top may have originated in 1922 when Stefano Arcari opened an ice cream shop at 99 Portobello High Street in Portobello, Scotland. Arcari would break a large Flake in half and put it in an ice cream cone for his customers, naming the treat after his address.
@simonrobbins8357
@simonrobbins8357 Ай бұрын
Not only would that be a ridiculous price back then it still wouldn’t have been a 99. They would have called it a nineteen and nine pence ha’penny 😂

Search Ronnie Barker tribute …. Quick Indian cooking! Wouldn’t be broadcast today! Another reminder for a weeks time, search The McEnroe Home. As for Mr Whippy, Mr Drippy more like - melts in less than two minutes! Better off buying a Magnum Ice Cream (numerous flavours) or a Solero
