Sadly they don't appear to be made with the same ingredients and taste different. Just like with Snickers, the ones you get here are madly over-sugared and less creamy
@alyson42
@alyson42 Жыл бұрын
@@sluttybuttI haven’t done a taste comparison; however, looking it up online, each one (British and American) has 18 g of sugar per 4 slices, so the amount of sugar in each of them is the same. I agree that Hershey’s chocolate is terrible, as is the chocolate that is put on many of the major candy bars over here (including snickers); however, there are also plenty of other brands that make high-quality chocolate that is nothing like Hershey’s. Theo Chocolate in Seattle, for example, is quite good.

I’m from Los Angeles, California (5th generation in this city). I completely support +LGBTQ community. Love comes in all forms. ❤️🏳️‍🌈 2. The second part is where I leave what city I’m from in hopes that maybe I can start a trend where others start doing the same and we can see where each of us are from. You see I’m an Anthropologist/Archaeologist so I absolutely LOVE talking to people from all over the world. Yeah I hate to say it but as an American who watches this channel a lot, they pretty clearly went to schools of different socio-economic levels between the British kids in other episodes and these with American kids. No hate to anybody, but this is about exposure. If Hershey's is the only chocolate you have had, it's great. And don't get me wrong, I like Hersheys. But it is NOT top tier. And I'd wager that most Americans realize that Hersheys is lowest common denominator.

Having tried other chocolates I get why so many say Hershey's isn't great. However, there are definitely worse chocolates, like Frankford. I'm biased towards Hershey's as I was able to tour the school. And, the chocolate factory is wonderful. The Hershey Family does a lot of 'good-will' with the money they make. I also know a child that attended the school. What a blessing!!

Terry's chocolate oranges were all the rage here in the US in I think the late '80's, early '90's. Originally they were only in milk chocolate, but later there was also a dark chocolate variety as well. At some point, they added raspberry flavored ones, both milk and dark chocolate as well. You still see them at Christmas time, but you really have to look. Not as highly publicized now; it seemed like all the drug chains, CVS and Walgreens, in particular, featured them in their flyers frequently back then.

They've released a Mint Chocolate version in England. I saw it while shopping yesterday, not sure if it's new but it's the first time i have seen it!

For those wondering why Hershey's tastes bad to other countries, its because of the refinement process. Cocoa beans flavor varies between fruity, nutty, and chocolatey. These flavors change based on where the tree is grown, due to nutrients, fermentation, and climate conditions all being different in some way. In a large batch of cocoa beans coming from all over, with a lot of bitter and rotten beans also getting mixed in, they over-refine the chocolate. While this process gets rid of the bitter rotten notes, it also gets rid of the fruity, floral, or nutty notes you would get from chocolate. Leaving you with a fairly bland, yet consistent tasting chocolate bar. This bland taste is comparable to plastic for our friends in other areas, as they don't refine theirs as much.

Plus, one ingredient that is exactly the same as an ingredient in vomit. That's what I read about a month ago. Until I read that, I used to eat it and make candy shells with it. Bleck

@@ladywolfwolf IIRC That "ingredient" is butyric acid, a byproduct from the fermentation of the milk they did before boiling the water off in order to mix it into the cocoa butter (fermentation was required to lower its boiling point so they wouldn't denature it). I remember learning about it from Adam Ragusea and I'm guessing you might've learned it from him aswell :)

The sick flavour is intentionally added - funnily enough it is literally the same chemical that is *in* sick - butyric acid. And this is simply because it gives it a longer shelf life. Americans are weird.
