I had to take my cash parked in my money market account out of my 401k into a self directed (Gold and Bitcoin) to keep it safe from more ponzinomics. The bank my 401k provider uses was just downgraded after the collapses. I don't think too many people are thinking about the FDIC banks their 401k money market cash are stashed into.

@@lepton31415 Yes and here is the data on why. Firstly you can't print more of it. Beyond that;. If you put $1 in stocks 14 years ago you would have about $4.84. Gold you would be about $1.89 at now. Bitcoin you would have been able to pocket millions of dollars ($6,900,000) if you bought in 2010 when it was popularized from a single dollar at the last top. If you bought it in 2009 before it was popularized you would have nearing 1 billion dollars from a single dollar in 14 years. Even buying and holding it, it outpaces ever asset by far better than real estate, better than gold, uranium, diamonds, any commodity, and far better than the 2nd best asset class even far outpacing it (the Nasdaq 100). Bitcoin by any measure is by far the best thing you could have invested in over the last 14 years or it's existence. People that don't understand investing or actual data use pat little phrases they've learned parrot to look like they've never invested in crypto, while secretly closet investing. Or they simple are completely ignorant on the topic, not having looked at the data. If we have the data, let's use the data. If all we have is opinion, let's go with mine. In terms of safety I can lock up a 12 word phrase secured by a replicated ledger all over the world, safely and soundly encrypted. I can hold that 12 word phrase in my memory or in various safe locations and take it anywhere I please, never confiscated by anyone, or devalued by any government, or crashed in any insolvent fiat scam. So yes safe and the world's most stellar asset to boot. 😄lol

@jbar518 I would and I actually made a great deal of money at this exact inflection point back in 2018-2019 in long term treasuries. However the debt market is dangerous, the only one significantly buying back in is the Fed. Many people were spooked off by the selloff in the bond market, and fled to hard assets e.g. the Chinese. That coupled with banking instability has triggered a different environment. I see too many problems with the debt market now. In the past this beta 0 risk free asset did great, but I think this time it actually is or could be different. I will hold some treasuries too but not at levels like back in 2019.

@Heisenberg is Alive I wouldn't put my whole position in it by any means. But I would put a portion of it in there. The data I just provided in my comment is exactly the reason why. It has for 14 years hands down beat every single investment and asset class by a very long country mile. Also it is a very good asymmetric bet, with downside maybe 10% at this level with an upside of 5 to 25X+ so it matches a good risk to reward.

as of summer 2022, I withdrew most of my money from banks. Being retired, I keep about 3 months of expenses in my checking account. I also keep money in another bank. Of course, with prices rising, it's not too difficult to meet the three-month limit. Put some of it in I bonds straight from the Treasury 2022 and put more in 2023. I also sell short-term options in the inverse ETF. I have heard testimonials of people earning over US$450,000 during this red period. What steps can I take to achieve this?
