My friend Tia was a quarterback for the Cleveland Crush (before the team moved to Toledo, Ohio and ultimately folded). Each team had open tryouts, and it was all voluntary. While nobody was paid directly, there were other opportunities to make money, such as personal appearances, etc. As far as the "uniforms" go, she said, "Who cares? It's my choice. If you don't like it, don't watch."

Sure. And my buddy once dated a stripper who also sometimes turned tricks. It was voluntary. On both of their parts. It is what it is. Where there is a dollar to be earned, people will do anything. So glad I saw this post first. The original lingerie games were played in actual lingerie. Skimpy nighty's, no protective gear and the women were less serious. This has definitely evolved since the early beginnings and could be a great sport opportunity for the right player base. As to the lack of protective equipment and no pay, I hope that will also be changed, sooner than later would be better. Will it be able to rival and match men's football, only time will tell.

At my middle school and high school we had an event at every field day called powder puff football. It was basically lingerie football, even though the rules said no clothing could be removed. Most girls found a way to roll and twist their cloths that all that was covered was the same as a bikini. Although this was in Houston usually during 100F or higher temp outside in the sun. Here it's normal for people to wear swimsuits year round sometimes.

It's like when the 1st version of the Arena Football League (indoor football very similar to this but with men playing) was around. 10:18 Lmao at the cultural misunderstanding... Maybe Google the "Lambeau Leap"...Lol It started in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where the women in this video are playing this game. It's also where the Green Bay Packers [the NFL team with which both Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, among others, became American household names]. It's a celebration, after scoring a touchdown, where the player who just scored will jump onto the wall of the stands, and the fans will "catch" him (in this case "her")...or at least hold him (her) so that he (she) can sit up there for a quick moment and celebrate with the fans, who all grab and pat and slobber over and congratulate him (her). So I believe that she knew what she was doing, and that nothing unusual or untoward was occurring. But that's just my opinion...lol

5:48 I haven't seen any professional leagues, but some school districts in some states allow girls to play football alongside the boys.
@canoli62 Жыл бұрын
First - the claim they don't get paid is ridiculous. When the league was new they made like 25 grand plus 1.5 per active game. Now they make 6000 per week. Similarly, the claim that the league doesn't have insurance is wrong. They always had catastrophic injury insurance (if you broke your neck or something there would be coverage), just not for smaller more common injuries like sprains and fractures. This has since changed. Now compare this to the Women's Football Alliance (women wearing football gear) - they don't get paid and pay about 1000 per season to play. Because no one watches it. Teams that win at the end of the season get some cash rewards, but I don't know if any of that goes to players. You ask "Do you have to be beautiful to play?" Why not ask "do you have to be beautiful to have a successful career acting / modeling / or being an internet personality?" You notice "those are really empty stands". Yes - this is the fact of women's sports - no one goes to see them, or pays to see them on TV. This is the problem at the heart of the idea behind the LFL (now XLF) - what would make guys watch these women play football?

Being from Chicago the most important thing was that Chicago beat Green Bay our historic football rivals. I agree with you. As long as lingerie football is an option It’s great. But at this point, I don’t know that it is an option rather than the only possibility available to women. I’m also bothered by the fact that the women don’t get paid. Perhaps the league by now 10 years later is helping to encourage the women to get professional endorsements that could be worth a lot more than anything in the league could afford to pay. But that’s an issue. What can the league afford to pay versus how much of the leagues revenue is pure profit for the investors? But as long as the women are enjoying it, that’s a big important factor. I’ve been in 50 players and rarely got paid except with applause and opportunity and I was happy with that. Being a day in and day out, professional actor would’ve required giving up so many long-term benefits that I wound up needing. That one jerk was really out of line, unless he’s in a relationship with the player which with the size of these crowds is possible, but it still looks creepy as hell. So you were thinking of another channel a 😆 😆 😆, well, I’m sure most of your audience wouldn’t mind a Diane laundry channel, but we just want you to do as much you contract as you can and that is fantastic. In the meantime, stay weird, stay fun and take good care of Chewy. Speaking of interesting topics, there is a conspiracy theory getting a traction that O.J. Greetings Diane Technically they are NOT playing in lingerie. They are playing more in swimwear. Their 'panties' are very similar to the shorts worn by Hooters waitresses. The top is more of a sports bra or swimwear top that can be seen at a gym or swimming pool. But if I am remembering right, the first 2 season they WERE in actual lacy (typical) lingerie. This version shown was change to so it would look less sexist and exploitive. Currently, NO they do not have the option to play in something else than the swimwear uniform. In actuality, these women have MORE cloth on their bodies than beach volleyball players. Remember there was a controversy about some female Scandanavia (volleyball?) team wearing skimpy outfits at the Olympics(?) because they were ALSO wearing the same style bootie shorts. And If I remember the rules of the Olympics, none of the competing athletes are allowed to get financially compensated for participating / competing in the Olympics.

One advantage to using a smaller field is the greater availability of sports venues. In the USA we have a lot of sports on all levels. With minor leagues in every imaginable sport (even a pro lacrosse league) as well as professional and college level sports, just finding places to play can be difficult. Arena leagues with smaller fields became popular back in the 80s and have gone through several iterations over the years and the this is just the latest version of it. As for the sexism of them not getting paid, their are semi-pro men's football leagues where men don't get paid either. As you can imagine, the low fan attendance has a lot to do with it.
@wm3752 Жыл бұрын
The field is smaller because it's 7-on-7 football vs 11-on-11 in men's football(7 players from each team on the field of play)(with fewer players- they'd all get completely exhausted trying to cover that much territory/field).....there are, tho, many men's(high school/boys) 7-on-7 league's- particularly in Texas where it's extremely popular.....also- professional Arena League football(men's and women's) play 7-on-7 on a smaller playing field......additionally- the female players aren't "drafted"- they "try-out"....they have open "try-out" sessions that each team will advertise(in some manner) and the interested women will show up and "demonstrate" their athletic abilities and personal appearance(s)....

Do you have to be beautiful to play lingerie football? Look at them. If beauty weren't a requirement, at least some of them wouldn't be beautiful. I mean, obviously, they have to be fit, but if you look at other women's sports (like track and field events), they're not all beautiful. And some in some positions, like offensive line, there's a definite advantage to being bulky, yet you don't see any really bulky women on these teams. Muscular, yes, but not wide and stocky. It's pretty clear what's going on here. Beauty is a minimum requirement. My feeling is, if people are paying to watch them, they should get a cut of the money. That would be true no matter whether they're wearing lingerie or they're fully covered. No one should be able to make money off of someone without paying for it. The comparison to hockey is bogus. The reason there are fewer concussions in ice hockey is that it's not as rough a sport as football. Yes, they have body checks, but you don't see players knocked down and hit hard on every single play the way you do in football. I do think it's questionable for these women to wear helmets and pads at all when the rest of their bodies aren't protected. It's surprising they aren't covered with scars.

I am not a regular viewer of the LFL. I have watched some games, but just never became all that interested. I have noticed a few things that should be pointed out for a matter of clarification. 1: the field size is smaller than NFL fields because they play in indoor arenas. The field of play is very similar as men's arena football. And in the instance of Chicago and Green Bay, the fields the ladies play on are also for men's arena football as well. Neither the Arena Football League or the Lingerie Football League have a hard and fast standard for field dimensions, like the NFL does. This is because they have to be set up in arenas that were designed for multiple purposes of use. And offer different floor plans and square footage. Basically the field has to fit into the arena that is available. 2: I noticed that the correspondent mention specifically that the LFL doesn't pay the players. It should be pointed out that, neither does the NFL. Players are paid by the franchise teams that they play for. Ticket sales being what they are in the LFL, I couldn't really guess on how much any of the teams might directly pay the ladies to play. But these ladies are represented by sports agents. Agents work on a percentage commission so there has to be money somewhere. In general in the LFL finances ar divided between the League and the teams. The league retains all the TV/broadcast/video rights. The teams divide the ticket sales. 60% for the home team and 40% for the visitors. The ticket sales would be where revenue is generated to pay any salaries of team employees. 3: I'm not an expert, but there's something to be said for light weight helmets. Most helmet designs have been getting lighter as technology and materials allow. This includes but is not limited to football helmets. I've noticed in the advertising lately that the ladies are wearing knee as elbow pads

So, I paused at 7:55. "Do you have to be beautiful?" These people are strong, and athletes, but they are also doing it part time. Also, I've seen some big tough women, and these seem more like 'M-TV personalities' than actual tough. I've never heard of this thing before this video, so I'd say in answer to your question, "Yes. Probably. I think so. They have to be beautiful to do this current thing" 'Real' professional sports woman would mop their asses off the floor in a football game. You can't tell me that a 130 lb. human stands much chance against a 250 lb. human in a 'football situation'. I also agree with you about the protective gear. American football has become a highly engineered and regulated business, and they do everything they can to minimize risk to their assets, basically, for the reason that they don't want to lose money (which is their sole purpose to exist). This thing... ungh, is quite obviously for what it's for. No disrespect to the women whom participate, but in a real competitive scenario, I don't think you'd see a lot of zumba moms with fake boobs. I think you'd see a lot of big strong women, whom need that gear, just like the men. I think you'd see exciting football (American football that is), and it would be interesting and worth watching.

I think they definitely need full gear since they playing for real. Definitely need to be payed and medically covered.

Right?! When it comes to safety the only question should be does it work

Who's going to pay for salaries and medical insurance when the league doesnt make any money? If you sell 1,000 tickets at $20 a game thats only $20,000.. You still have to pay people who work at the stadium, fees for using someone else's stadium, etc, etc, etc. So what are you going to pay them? $10 each?? Most people would rather play for free than be insulted. If a sports league makes NO MONEY (like the WNBA) then they are lucky they have volunteers who play for themselves and the love of the game!

The thing is. that all sports in The USA is so entertainment oriented on all levels. That is also why there is so limited passion compared to for instance football i Europe or Latin America - which literally (for good or bad) can be a life and death matter.

There are actually pro women's football leagues (not just in the U.S., but in other countries like Mexico, for example) where the women wear uniforms very similar to the men. But they don't get as much publicity (for obvious reasons) as the lingerie league did. The Lingerie League recently morphed into the X League. Their uniforms are (a little bit) more covered up. They wear biker shorts and tank tops that cover the boobs (last time I checked).

Love Dian. Don’t even kinda like sport. Sorry. Only watching to support you dear girl. To be fair, you do make it more interesting than it is on its own. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day out there. Hi Sir Chew!

There are no rules against women playing in the NFL, also when they say this is just as hard NFL then show me the 325 lb defensive players.

one reason the fields are smaller is because its not 11 vs. 11 its like 7 vs. 7

Looking at this I noticed their lack of lineman body types. The five blockers in front of the QB are usually "Big 'uns" Not fat, but at 300 pounds really embarrassed to take off their shirt at the beach. None of them are, "please put something on." Do a team with some large, but athletic-ish women and you can dominate, if you can convince that type of woman to wear that.

And to think that one member of the English Women's football (soccer) team got slated by the press for celebrating a goal like a man by taking her shirt off and running down the line. She was wearing a sports bra. The team actually filled Wembley for that Euros final.

I'm pretty sure all indoor football fields are smaller. I remember back in the day we had a semi-pro football league in town and considered trying out for it, and you didn't get paid for that either. But you got to keep your clothes on.

Sadly in general people tend to have a preconceived idea that women/girls can't play sports or do so ½ heartedly...it's the whole 'plays like a girl ' mentality... I am not really a sports person nor very athletically inclined but in high school I do remember the sports that had both men's and women's teams the girls were always far more viscous and brutal than they boys teams. One basketball game comes to mind when a very shy and quiet girl I had classes with tried to take the ball away from the other team, the player that had it fell down and clutched the basketball in the fetal position... before anything could be called by the officials the girl i knew picked up the basketball with the other girl still clutching it and slung her down court and proceeded on like nothing happened and the official pretty much threw up his hands and let the game continue..... so I say to be fair required the men to play atleast one game a year in speedos and donate their salary to charity. And see who's tougher... probably not the guys 🙃
