Mort Sahl is considered by many to be the first modern comedian since Will Rogers. However, it doesn't stop there. As someone of principle, Sahl risked his entire career and worked hand-in-hand with Jim Garrison to investigate the assassination of John F Kennedy and was in continuous contention with the CIA.
Mark Groubert and Eric Hunley explore Mort Sahl's legendary 70+ year career.

Thanks for doing this show.. Also, I'd like to thank you both for the shout-out and the kind words. And yes, I did know Mort Sahl, and traveled thousands of miles to see him four times, and would talk to him after the show, signed each other's works for each other. I kept in touch with him through e-mail or Facebook messenger, and last talked to him this year. If there are any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer them. I have thousands of newspapers of his, every magazine, a ton of video and audio (but not all are uploaded yet). Please don't take offense for some corrections, it's just that everything being said the days/weeks after his death will be very influential. I've already seen some take bad information from people online and then throw it on their blogs, KZbin, etc.. Especially if they have a ton of followers. For example, the cursing wasn't with his wife; it was with Phyllis Kirke (whom he never married). He also got married in 1955, Susan Babior wasn't 16 (they met when she was 16).. He worked every Thursdays (not Saturdays) up until COVID. Norm was not at the 80th Birthday Party. There were many wars since Lenny died (all undeclared of course). We've been in two handfuls just in the last few years! Mort actually started writing for JFK when he was a Senator, but the threats came after "The New Frontier" album in 1961, where he starts (I've paid to get it remastered and re-uploaded).. "Here we are on 'The New Frontier'...... CUBA!".. Milt Ebbins (manager of Peter Lawford and Mort Sahl) told Enrico Banducci to stop, and how the 'hungry i' was instantly audited by the IRS, padlocked within months. Mark said something very important about Mort's credibility, which is why The Establishment went after him, instead of someone of no threat. There's a ton of stuff not available anywhere. I've maxed two credit cards purchasing archives, etc.. I only have 2k subscribers, but did get someone to pitch in $20, which I appreciate if he's reading this. Like any other fan, I just want to see these files, because I know from my work as an archivist/researcher, the old film or radio quality goes bad very quickly, unlike digital. And for historical purposes, I always feel its best to go directly to the source, especially audio/video. There's a lot more, but here's some, in case someone wants to get it and upload it on KZbin.. I've purchased a few, the man is reliable, but is a bit expensive. I thought if half of my subscribers sent $5, I'd have enough to purchase them all. I'm only listing these so no one purchases something I already have (some of which I haven't uploaded yet). www.atvaudio.com/ata_search.php #209: TONIGHT SHOW WITH GUEST HOST MORT SAHL, THE 1962-06-11, WNBC, 19 min. #14116: TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON, THE 1963-05-20, NBC, min. #14572: BARRY GRAY INTERVIEWS, THE: WMCA RADIO 1964-06-19, WMCA, 14 min. #916: CLOSE UP!: WHAT'S SO FUNNY 1962-06-12, WABC, 25 min. #14575: BARRY GRAY INTERVIEWS, THE: WMCA RADIO 1964-06-22, WMCA, 6 min. #696: LES CRANE SHOW, THE NEW 1964-08-06, WABC, 47 min. #15943: MERV GRIFFIN SHOW. 1968-11-14, SYN, min. #4808: THAT'S LIFE 1968-12-31, WABC, 52 min. #794: A LAST LAUGH AT THE SIXTIES 1970-01-08, WABC, 52 min.

My understanding is that Mort did in fact write several of "JFK's" more famous "witticisms" but then subsequently did a lot of uncomplimentary slash critical stuff of Kennedy's administration in his act. And when confronted about it, likely by Bobby saying something like "I thought you were with us, Mort", Saul defended himself by explaining that they shouldn't be at all surprised because his entire act was predicated on his being an "anti-guy". Sahl claiming later like you say, that afterward the Kennedys and later LBJ did all they could (Which was a lot apparently) to blackball him and destroy his career.

saw a film several hours long which is nothing but interviews of people who knew Sam Peckinpah. all the segments are extremely generous. Mort Sahl among them, makes one thing vey clear about Sam "he was an American." what he meant by it, was that SP's work reflected it, but also that America was going to hell in a hand basket, and Sam's demise was unfortunate for us all who consider ourselves such. I think he was sitting on the balcony of his LA apt.......JFK's funniest line (from a not so funny time)was at RICE U, in Texas, where he makes reference, on a hot ,humid, September day, to the heat of the boosters on a NASA rocket being "almost as hot as it is here today,"....he smiled a genuine, not political smile, after applause died down. maybe Sahl? lately I've seen Reagan on 'shorts', doing jokes left & right. he was one relaxed President.

There is a KZbin video of Geraldo’s show, featuring the Zapruder Film, on 6 Mar 1975. --- That show changed my life, the start of my descent into THE “Rabbit Hole”. --- I was 22-years-old, and, up until then, I had thought, “Why would the Government lie?” I was as naïve as anyone could possibly be. Not anymore! --- But it wasn’t ONLY the Government. All three TV networks, ALL radio stations, ALL newspapers, plus every single BRANCH of the Government, AND MORE, were participants in the cover-up. --- I still believe that the ENTIRE reason for the subsequent House Select Committee on Assassinations, was for Congress to cover-up the OUTRAGE over the Warren Commission, the outrage resulting from Geraldo’s show. The other issues covered by the Committee were secondary. A very intriguing question: “Why did ‘Deep State’ ALLOW the Zapruder Film to be shown?” --- Just by watching the Zapruder Film, it is OBVIOUS that the film had been doctored, and that the Assassination was CHOREOGRAPHED, so that the fatal shot would occur, right in front of the Camera. --- In other words, someone OTHER THAN Abraham Zapruder, recorded JFK’s assassination. The filming was PRE-PLANNED. Zapruder was just a “stooge”, to provide a cover story. --- Of course, the “Official Explanation” for releasing a version of the film to Garrison for Shaw’s Trial, that being a “subpoena”, is nonsense. C’mon Mark, you know that, ultimately, subpoena’s mean NOTHING to “Deep State”. SOMEBODY wanted that film to be shown. --- One possibility, is that LBJ did not know that the Assassination would be filmed, with a likely candidate for knowing about the recording, being Richard Nixon, whose plane took off from Love Field, at almost the exact same time as the Assassination. Maybe Nixon wanted the so-called “Zapruder Film”, for leverage over LBJ. --- Conversely, another possibility is, with JFK’s Assassination having so much “Occult Ritual Fingerprints”, that the TRUE Powers behind the Assassination, DESIRED to show their “Occult Power”, by essentially BRAGGING that they pulled off the Assassination. LBJ had that kind of ‘tude. LBJ WANTED the Government to know, that he had the criminal backing, to replace a President, and that there was nothing they could do about it. --- Then came the Internet.

What was occult about the assassination ?

@@johnscanlon2598 Hi johnscanlon2598! Great question! And, man, do I have some answers! The BIGGEST OCCULT feature of the “Zapruder Film”, is that Deep State eventually SHOWED IT TO US, RUBBING IN OUR FACE, HOW BLATANTLY FALSE the “Official Narrative” was. THAT’S OCCULT! --- It is IMPOSSIBLE, that JFK was shot from behind. WHY did Deep State choose to show us the “Zapruder Film”, EVEN WITH the obvious “EDITING”????? --- There are SO MANY INCONSISTENCIES that “THEY” cannot hide. --- It is undeniable, that JFK’s “Fatal Shot” occurred, SIX SECONDS AFTER THE INITIAL SHOT! “Six Seconds” ain’t enough time, to protect a President, from a “Lone Assassin”, with a $12 gun, from 250 feet away????? --- It is undeniable, that JFK’s LIMO, was driving SO SLOWLY AFTER the initial shot, that an Agent FROM BEHIND, caught up to the Limo ON FOOT, SIX SECONDS AFTER the shooting had begun. --- Watch the Two “Secret Service Agents” in the front seat!!!!! The passenger side agent, at first, turns to look over his right shoulder, then, TURNS BACK AROUND FACING FORWARD, THROUGH THE REST OF THE ASSASSINATION. Meanwhile, the DRIVER, who is supposed to be DRIVING THE LIMO, SLOWS DOWN THE LIMO, LOOKS AT JFK, UNTIL AFTER JFK’S HEAD EXPLODES, at which time, the Driver turns back around, facing forward, and FINALLY RESUMES “DRIVING”. --- Look at Jackie!!!!! When JFK emerges from behind the so-called “Stemmons Sign”, JFK is clutching the CENTER OF HIS THROAT!!! Pretty accurate shot, from 200 feet away, eh??? Jackie grabs JFK’s hands, and HOLDS JFK UPRIGHT!!! uhhhhhh, I thought you were supposed to DUCK, when shots are being fired. Watch Jackie DUCK HER HEAD, ONE SECOND BEFORE THE FATAL SHOT! When JFK’s head explodes, Jackie’s face is about FOUR INCHES AWAY from the point of impact!!! When JFK’s now-lifeless body, bounces off the Limo trunk, Jackie DOESN’T EVEN LOOK AT HIM!!! The poor, bereaved, brand-new-widow, throws JFK’s body to the FLOOR of the Limo, while Jackie climbs onto the Trunk, to retrieve a piece of JFK’s skull, that had landed there. Jackie’s “Time of Mourning” didn’t last very long. THERE’S MORE, LOTS MORE. JFK’s Assassination may be the most well-planned Murder in History. Not only did JFK get murdered, “They” took a movie of the Murder, in BROAD DAYLIGHT, and SHOWED IT TO US, albeit with some “minor changes”. --- JFK’s Murder was WELL PLANNED. --- In the Course, “Assassination 101”. when you want to MURDER a President, you don’t leave ANYTHING TO “CHANCE”. You DON’T shoot from 200 feet away. --- Deep State PLANNED to RECORD JFK’s Assassination. How do I know????? Because the Camera was positioned DIRECTLY IN FRONT of the “Fatal Shot”, where the Limo STOPPED. The “Zapruder Film” at the moment of the “Fatal Shot”, shows JFK’s head AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE FRAME, as if Zapruder was aiming the Camera, at the “Grassy Field” on the other side of the Limo. OBVIOUSLY what REALLY HAPPENED, is that the so-called “Zapruder Film” was CROPPED, to HIDE who was sitting RIGHT IN FRONT of the “Fatal Shot”. If JFK’s head had been CENTERED (as it originally WAS), the film would have revealed WHO WAS SITTING IN FRONT of the “JFK SACRIFICE”. --- The EXACT POINT where JFK’s “Fatal Shot” was delivered, was a “Freemason Shrine”, dedicated to the First Texas Freemason Grand Master. Abraham Zapruder was a 32nd-Degree Freemason. There’s a little more “Occult”. The SECOND BIGGEST OCCULT MOMENT, was the Picture of LBJ, the “Assassination Project Manager”, being sworn in, with Jackie RIGHT NEXT TO LBJ (Think Jackie didn’t know???), STILL WEARING THE DRESS, COVERED WITH JFK’S BLOOD. THAT’S “OCCULT”. Everybody feeling “sorrow” and “empathy” for the MURDERERS. About the 100th or 200th time I looked at the so-called “Zapruder Film”, I focused on the “Stemmons Sign”, thinking, “What an unfortunate coincidence, that the ‘Stemmons Sign’ just happens to EXACTLY COVER UP the ‘First Shot’ to the MIDDLE of JFK’s Throat!” --- THEN I thought, “Coincidence??? And a very CRITICAL ‘Coincidence’ from a very WELL PLANNED Murder.” --- Throw on top the well-known fact, that the “Stemmons Sign” was NEVER SEEN AGAIN!!!!! No kiddin’!!! The “Stemmons Sign” DISAPPEARED!!! --- Being the “Conspiracy Dude” that I am, I SUDDENLY REALIZED, that the so-called “Stemmons Sign” NEVER EXISTED. Instead, the so-called “Stemmons Sign” was SUPER-IMPOSED on the so-called “Zapruder Film”, to cover up Connally shooting JFK in the MIDDLE of the throat, with a Paralyzing Gun, so that JFK couldn’t duck. Once you look at ALL OCCUPANTS of JFK’s Limo, and ask yourself REASONABLE questions, such as, “What are Secret Service Agents supposed to do, when Presidents are being shot?”, you cannot “UNSEE” the “Zapruder Film”. Rock Reynolds (AKA: Roger Reynard)

The Hungry i was owned by Enrico Banducci. This really put Mort Sahl on the map. I think he also performed at another place owned by Enrico, called Enrico's. Those were fun times in North Beach, when you could drive over there and be certain you could find parking. I'm so glad I saw him in Mill Valley about 10 years ago. When I saw him at the Throckmorton Theater, Sahl stated that he didn't vote for Kennedy. I have wondered if he didn't vote at all, or if he voted for Nixon in 1960? I find that hard to believe. I wish I had asked him who he did vote for when I had the chance.

Any suspicions re Buddy Holly. Richie Valens death! Lynard Skynard? Did Motown also prelude to black Mafia or current situation where rap music is now played more than white music on mtv?

Yeah, I used to think of the college students as intellectuals too. Until I actually *went* to college myself and not only realized that most of the student body was really pretty dumb, but a surprising number of the professors were too.

Mark Groubert is a phony, just like Alex Jones. He’s doing this program specifically to discard honest historians. By citing factual information about JFK and then spinning into his wild, paranoid fantasy land, when honest people bring up factual points about our history, people will respond, “Oh, you must be one of those Alex Jones types.” Mark Groubert is establishment propaganda in service of the Republican Party, the same Republican Party that blew JFK’s head off.

Mort Sahl had the same attitude about the Republican form of government. Big Jim asked. Do we validate the ascendency of invisible government by allowing elected leaders to be taken out under such questionable circumstances.

would mark & eric comment in future video about zapruder film possibly being edited: cut out is the car coming to full stop kinda uturning to come up street to dealey plaza, a few frames clipped getting shot, & possibly background & people standing on grass to the left of car somehow tampered with or using that background to see if couple frames edited to make it seem more like 1 shooter. and supposedly france's version of zapruder film is more complete but even that version edited. be interested on your takes on this if this has any merit. thank you.
