I used the chase LHR program in Vegas in May. We did four nights, alternating nights so we got the property dining credits 4 times. We stayed two nights at Mandalay Bay and two nights at the DELANO so it's very easy to change hotels. So free breakfast every day and four $100 credits, early check-in, late check-out, it was great. I think the chase program is better because you can access it with the Chase Freedom Visa signature card and there is no annual fee instead of Amex Platinum.

I've been using FHR for years, it's actually my favorite benefit for the Amex Platinum card. It's amazing! We stay in Montreal all the time and it's great for off-peak travel because you can pay ~200-250 USD and get $100 back in credits, plus a fantastic breakfast, late check out, early check ins (sometimes - not common, though), plus sometimes amazing upgrades. I went for my birthday last year and got upgraded to a huge suite. It's a great perk and the main reason why I keep my Platinum card.

I used FHR at Loews® Seattle Hotel 1000. We were able to substitute the $100 Spa credit as a valet parking credit, which we had a use for. We were very happy with our stay.

Here at NoMad and we were upgraded to a similar suite as yours. This is a great hotel and worth the trip. Flew Southwest for 6600 points and $22 (which included the boss traveling as my companion). Also, the boss has her own Amex Platt and she made her own reservation here so we have to “double dip” factor working. Thank you Sebby for the great tip!

It's what we did last weekend. We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria, got a $125 credit dining / resort credit, but we also got a $50,($25 per person resort credit). With breakfast, it's a $235 value for a $250 room!

Also worth noting, booking with FHR you earn 5x Amex pts AND hotel pts. You also get elite benefits too. But only FHR. I don't believe it works for The Hotel Collection.

Did $107 for one night at Delano with fhr so I got $100 to spend on property so I brought an attraction package + $100 breakfast credit + free wifi. Checked out and checked in after a weekend for the same deal. The weekend was spent on Airbnb closer to the outdoor activity I had booked (kayaking & horse back riding).

Just stayed at the Venetian FHR. $100 spa credit. Most Spa treatments were 150-200 a person. My gf said it was the best she’s had so worth it for $80 difference. $65 food credit for two people was okay and covered most of the cost of the room service we ordered. Got an upgraded room and view which was nice. 4pm checkout was really nice as well.

What I struggle with for Vegas is that I'd love to have the perks from FHR but I also get a lot of comped rooms from MLife. They are just the basic rooms but I end up using my Hyatt credit card and earn points etc. Seems like I should always take the free room

Some FHR hotels (not in Las Vegas) have $25 cocktails and $300 spa treatments. So the $100 credit doesn't go as far. I mainly use FHR for the guaranteed 4PM check-out. So run the numbers!

The AmEx offers and benefits section (under "Travel") of AmEx Platinum also gives you credit for specific hotels in Vegas (Ceasars, Mandalay Bay, Aria, etc.). You spend either $250 and get $50 credit or $500 to get $100 credit at the hotel. It's more to chance if you get this offer or not, but every bit helps.

I use the FHR all the time and the spa credit is worthless since most treatments are $200 plus and you can’t use it for non service purchases. The last two times at Bellagio this fall I was stuffed for the upgrade. I like the Palazzo best.

I Was wondering the same! I booked a trip with my Gold card for their Hotel Collection in Las Vegas to use the $100 food/experience credit but I wondered if I have my Hilton number in the system upon booking would I get the $15 x 2 daily food and beverage credit too? I called Amex and they said I would need to use my Gold card at the time of booking to get the $100 credit, but still wonder about my Hilton Gold status and using that card too!??

There is an indoor connector between the Nomad/Park MGM and the neighboring Aria, which sits just behind the Waldorf. It is probably a faster way to the Waldorf than walking outside.

I am seeing the FHR program look a little different now. Even though it doesn’t require you to stay at least two nights, I am starting to see FHR hotels in Denver and Las Vegas hotels not being able to be booked for one night stays. It says “This hotel is not available on the dates selected”. Is this their way around the program? And if so, can you upload a new video to address this? For example, in Las Vegas, the Bellagio, previously, you were able to book a one-night stay. Now, it seems like you cannot..

If I book 2 consecutive nights seperatly at an FHR (nomad), will I get the dining credit twice? Example: Day 1, early check-in, get the $100 credit, check out next day. Day 2, check in again, and get the $100 credit again. Since there's a time overlap 12pm(early check-in) - 4pm(late check-out) I assume it would be easy to do. I noticed you mentioned similar example with Mandy checking in the next day on a separate booking. What I'm curious to know is if I'm able to do it by myself, just booking the nights separately.

I wish this was an actual good benefit of the platinum card since I have it, but I've checked it many many times for many places, including vegas very recently - last month. The fact is you simply don't need the card or to use FHR to get these benefits, pretty much all the best hotels that offer this type of package - offer it to anyone. How? Virtuoso.com - It's a luxury booking channel, with no real catch, no specific card needed, no annual fees. And in every case for Vegas I checked, it offers the same benefits - but better because as you mentioned the FB credits are preferred, and Virtuoso often offers these at hotels FHR only gives spa credits. EG: Cosmopolitan it's a full FB or SPA credit - in practice , really anything you charge to the room. MGM properties seem to be mostly split $50 spa and $50 FB, still better then 0 FB if you don't plan to use there (Very overpriced) Spas. Other one I used it at is ARIA, which FHR doesn't even offer, worked out awesome, got a lot of amazing food free. True for the Nomad it's not a virtuoso property yet, so Sebby you probably made the right choice. But yea cosmo and ARIA are really awesome, so best to always check both. All the other high end MGM properties are available on Virtuoso tho (more than FHR), so probably since Nomad is the newest it might get added later. Other important factor you didn't mention is hotel status benefits - While booking thru FHR should also offer you these benefits, in vegas YMMV on that a lot because I'm fairly sure they book through the Casino. See in vegas most every major property has 2 management sides to it - the Casino and the Hotel. The hotel sides are allied with the major global hotel programs, EG: Cosmo with Marriott, MGM properties with Hyatt, Venetian with IHG, etc (in exchange for having there reservation system, they pay commission to these programs). While the Casino side pays no commission and does not want to honor benefits (they get away with this because.. vegas). For cosmo, they told me you must book through Marriott to get your points/other benefits. While for the most part they don't stack with Virtuoso benefits (Platinum+ can get an extra $10 FB credit, that's about it above and beyond the virtuoso benefits), the points do, and by the sounds of the post below mine from Alfred- FHR books thru the Casino, so you may lose your points. (and benefits, but Cosmo doesn't actually honor any of the benefits you'd not otherwise get with Virtuoso anyways) Cuz yea Virtuoso books direct - thru Marriott when available, and usually other hotel programs in vegas as well, not with Casinos. So for points/etc, there is literally no difference. The only catch is only a travel agent can book it - they do it directly on marriott site with there IATA number, and the rate is the full flex rate - same restriction on AmexFHR there so not a concern. So yea for the ones that are otherwise equal on the FB credit: Comes down to the 5x MR points vs the possible loss of loyalty points.

As usual, thanks for sharing! Other than free access to the Centurion lounges, I'm still having hard time justifying the annual fee of this card. Especially for traverls with premium airlines statuses. The $200 incidental is useless, as most of these travelers can take extra luggage or 2 for free. The gold hotel statuses and car rental upgrades are provided through major airline carriers and other lower annul fee cards. The trip and car insurance coverages are very basic. And that $50 x 2 at Saks... I don't know even one person who shops there. If this is a true traveler card, it should be useful for people who Travel! (Not to mention that it's not accepted in many locations in Europe) In addition, the MR points are not even close in value to the UR points offered by Chase (for both flights and hotels). In summary, we only get $200 Uber credit. Now we need to ask ourselves, does it really worth the $550 we pay? As a frequent traveler, the answer is no. The Chase Sapphire Reserve is simply a much better card for less. Btw, I'm not working for Chase )

Hi Sebby. Macy’s cancelled my credit card without notice “due to inactivity”. I found out because Credit Karma notified me. Macy said “ they don’t have to give notice”. I usually use Macy’s after Christmas. Now my credit score was lowered due to balance-to-credit ratio and I lost a long time creditor. Additionally, to re-apply will put a “hard inquiry” on my credit report. Is this fair or legal?

I don't see the value in re-applying; might as well get a useful card if you're adding something new. They have to give notice in certain states (i.e., 30 days notice in CA from my understanding). Outside of state based rules though, they can do whatever they want.
