Everyone : "The twin-engine Citroen 2CV 'sahara' was a stupid idea" AMG : "hold my very large bavarian-sized glass of beer"

Actually I think it did when Cooper fitted an engine into the rear of a Mini Cooper in the 1960s, because a weld securing one of the steering tie-rods to the sub-frame broke away during testing! The dual-engine Mini Cooper was trialled after seeing it done in the Citroën, but scrapped after the prototype crashed.

Back in the days when a compact car with two engines, combined 250hp and 1330kg was called heavy...
@matgee88925 ай бұрын
Even with two engines this thing has almost exactly the same performance, weight and fuel consumption as a modern Fiesta ST.

250hp in a small nugget like this is indeed very impressive even for today's standards!😮

Few people realise this, but the original A class was a mid engine car, for the engine block was located behind the front axle.

That makes the C3 Corvette mid-engine, that's not as crazy as it sounds.

I had one. You're wrong
@detaart6 ай бұрын
lol few people realize this, because it's false. It was pretty much on top of the front axle. A mid engined front wheel drive car would be absolutely terrible ... where would the driveshafts go? They'd have to be at an angle forwards lol.
@RickZanardi6 ай бұрын
@@detaart if it is a transverse mid-engine there would be no driveshaft. Just the gearbox lining up with the halfshafts and the engine behind the halfshafts and gearbox

I'm starting to miss analog dials in general. And physical buttons on the consolle. Too many cheapo screens on cars nowadays. They really are so widespread because of how cheap they are to manufacture... and many people love them. I can't get my head around this.
Haha, I was telling my wife about this a few days ago! She drives an A160 and it's actually a good little car, the A190 twin must have been amazing to drive!

It was chosen for to make a break in AMGs history line which contrary to what people believe nowadays was not centered around motor sports but a little motor sport was done yes, but business was centered around pimps. AMG was the major pimp car supplier in Germany, now it is Brabus. And this is the true reason why they were not allowed to have the Mercedes Star on their cars. I think it very funny to look at the customers who buy AMG now as for they really are: Wannabee pimps.

It isn't the engine. It is the car body crushing you or the force internally ripping you apart before the engine comes through. I've seen it, seen the tiny slot that used to be the footwell. The engine went to the side, the steering wheel came out the passenger window and he died.
