I'd imagine he meant "historic" as in historic for Hapoel tlv, not for him. Since a legitemate nba player coming to a team like Hapoel tlv is fucking crazy on so many levels - not only because it's a Eurocup team (second tier eu bball) but also specifically because it's Hapoel tlv. This is a team that hasn't won a state championship since the 60s. The last major title they won was over 30 years ago. The past few years they've gotten good again and they have a crazy owner who's going all in. Pat Bev to Hapoel tlv is like Lebron James to the Hornets 💀

Video is good overall. But saying "Israel is in Asia, not in Europe" is quite funny considering the fact that all Israeli teams (and national team) never played basketball in Asian competitions, they played in European leagues only since forever ,which, believe it or not, are much more competitive than the NBA or every other league in the world. Pat is obviously planning on retirement after the next two seasons, which might explain his so called "mysterious" move. Wanting to achieve trophies overseas, winning a title or two in Europe actually make some sense. You say you watch overseas basketball, if you do you should understand this move, but I guess this video is just for entertaining the average NBA fan brain. What I'm trying to say is that Pat seems like a guy that love the competition, and in that meaning Europe basketball atmosphere has so much to offer, at least more than the NBA, and that's for sure. I guess that at this stage of his career, money isn't everything for Pat, and that should be appreciated. Pat is obviously good for the NBA since it's a league controlled by business, we all know how entertaining Pat is (high media rating player= high value for the NBA), which explains why the league would never ban him. Making this kind of video is pure demagoguery.

As an Israeli basketball fan, i wanted to add: A. Israel is actually widely considered a good place for U.S players playing internationally (admitingly not through the current war status), especially at their early carrer. There are richer teams elsewhere in Europe, but here in Israel everyone speaks fluent English, are very friendly to Americans, and the players really enjoy the Tel-Aviv night life, and , well, a relaxed approach to the consumption of a certain popular herb. B. Happel Tel Aviv has an insane fan base, that seems like a match in heaven for Pat Bev. He will feel very very loved. C. We're all happy to get such a high profile (and interesting) player in our league!

He's not banned so much as there's just a limited market for him. The NBA's new luxury tax setup with more punitive measures just went into effect this July 1st. If you are a team just below the first tax apron ($178M) like the Sacramento, New Orleans, Indiana, LA (Clippers), and Golden State, you're not going to sign Beverley and subject yourself to the first apron restrictions. If you're a team below the first apron and above the tax threshold ($170.8M), Bev's $3.3M contract will likely cost you closer to $5-6M. So, Memphis, Atlanta, Portland, and Brooklyn likely won't sign up for that deal- especially because none of them are really contenders. If you're a team below the luxury tax but are close to it like Houston, Chicago, or Toronto, you'll probably wait until closer to the season to do it to make sure you stay out of the tax by clearing a roster spot or two. If you're a team that's above the first apron ($178M) and below the second apron ($189M) like Philly, New York, and Dallas, you're probably not going to pony up about $10M in total for Bev vs. a rookie minimum of about a third of that to fill out your roster spots. If you're a team that's above the second apron like Phoenix, Boston, Milwaukee, Denver, LA (Lakers), Minnesota, and Miami, you're definitely not going to spend $10M+ for Bev along with all of the other punishments of tax. And, they also have to be wary of being a repeat offender as well- so some of these teams likely would need to dump salary to get under the second apron, which means trading picks to bad teams to eat said salary. So, they won't sign Bev until after the trade deadline and they know for certain that they can contend for a title. So, who does that leave? Basically Detroit, Utah, OKC, Washington, San Antonio, Orlando, Charlotte, and Cleveland. OKC won't want him because they already have a full roster. San Antonio won't sign him because Chris Paul hates Bev. Orlando is trying to make the playoffs, but has a full roster. Similar situation in Charlotte. Detroit would definitely sign Bev, but they'll prioritize playing other guards over him- particularly younger ones. Cleveland could be an option, but I think they want the roster spots open to try to trade for help. There's just not a lot of interest out there for a 36 year old point guard with limited offensive game in the new era of more punitive luxury tax penalties (both financial and roster building). HIs antics are only the cherry on top of the sh-t sundae that is his market.

The real scandal is that there is any team in the world willing to pay Beverly 7 figures. Desperate. How many teams had him and got rid of him after a year or two, I lost count.

NGL being able to sell your merch in a professional arena is kinda historic bc what it could do for your brand and we know he's all about his brand rn. Its a smart move considering he's old and wasn't gonna be that impactful in the NBA anymore. He could be a star overseas and maybe wont make the $2m difference in merch sales but he'll get some lifelong fans that could help his business going forward.

I agree with Pat @ 7:08 on that one. I mean, if he has a chance to hoop, then do it. You can post all the workout videos you want & no matter how good it'll look, the NBA will still reject you anyways. All those guys the guy mentioned posting workout videos, are still unemployed and out the league. You can't rely on the NBA and have to explore other options and take them.
