Amiga 3000 Picasso2 video card

That's a great card, not only because it gives you a lovely looking Workbench at resolutions up to what I typically used on my first PC in the early 2000s, but because it's still working all these years later. I occasionally saw the A3000 advertised in magazines with the 24-bit colour image of a tropical scene and dimly understood that it was achieved with a graphics card, and was wowed by the difference from the humble resolution on the A500 and even A1200.

The fact that the video is 13:37 makes it that much more awesome! I have the same card in my A4000, it's great, love the clicking relays. It will however be replaced by a ZZ9000 soonish.

Yay! After over 2 years! You’ve fulfilled my request to show how to setup P96! 👍🏻😉 This is interesting timing. I’ve just been trying to get a PicassoIV card working without any joy 🙄 Have got a Micronik 6080 A1200 busboard Rev 5.4.4 in a Infinitiv tower case. Every time I put in the PIV card and it kills the rest of the Zorro-II slots so that my X-Surf card doesn’t show 🤷🏻‍♂️ Have followed the manual for the jumpers but no Dice 😔 It is designed for both Z-II and Z-III slots with a edge connector for the video slot for flickerfixing/scandoubling the AGA native video. This thing also has the concerto Sound add-on. Oh well….

Those Micronik boards were notorious back in the day for having bus problems,many of them did not have bus termination which may be why you are having troubles with multiple cards. If juggling the card positions doesn't help this may be the problem. You can also check the revision of the PIV and that its chip revisions are the latest also. We used to jokingly call Micronik stuff "Chronic".

Hi! I just restarted my amiga 4000 with a cyberstorm 68060, cybervision 64 and the scsi module. I'm thinking about having it up to date so your channel and expérience may be really useful. The Picasso II came out in 86 for the 2000. The big book of Amiga hardware still doesnt tell the truth on the dates, and how many colors an Amiga can Do much less a lot of other hardware. Like the Adrienne card had fiber connection . Not all . My friend has one. Now I do. This os one reason why Amiga was killed off that ,and true 24bit color.not to mention the the many RISC we have put on the Amiga....pc/mac still true 8bit color 8bit cpu. Layered/grouped/levels..really hung in hindrance for stupidity.

Hi Chris I know this off topic, but I wrote to you some time ago regarding the Furia accelerator for the Amiga 600. Since then I have upgraded to a Vampire 2.2 from Apollo. I have currently an automatic HDMI switch to alternate from RGB ECS to HDMI RTG mode. It's a bit of a pain in the neck switching manually to play WHDLoad games but a neccessary evil. I understand that there is a priority switcher available from Startech which allows for priority switching of devices. Do you know anything about these priority switches and are they affective for use in a Vamped Amiga 600?

How is this card compared to the OpalVision 24-Bit RGB Video Graphics?

the Picasso II is a RTG card, the Opalvision is just a frame buffer(basically) and not a true graphics card.

Opalvision is not a rtg card at all. And only works promoted with the three apps opal made. Opal paint and two others i forget

@Chris Edwards Restoration Thanks Chris for replying, yes install clean OS3:2 and install Retina and P96, but I just get that gray screen with no icons. I tell you that I could never see the WB on the Retina, years ago when I bought it used, you could only see some programs on a VGA monitor, but never the WB, in the end I uninstalled it and now I was trying to get it to work. I have an Indivision connected, it seems to you that it can interfere in some way with the Retina, the Indivision always looks good, but the Retina does not. Greetings

@@marioaquiles5024 well according to the BBOAH here this card has no P96 drivers and uses the EGS drivers from spectrum bigbookofamigahardware.com/bboah/product.aspx?id=460 theres also amigaresource. cx that has the disks amiga.resource.cx/exp/p=retina

@Chris Edwards Restoration I know that page and I installed that, but it doesn't help at all, P96 detects the Retina and supposedly installs the correct thing for it, if you look at your video when installing P96 Retina BLT Z3 appears, but I can't get it to work well, surely I'm doing something wrong.
