Picasso IV RTG video card on Amiga 3000/4000

I have a Picasso 4 running in an A4000/040. The person I bought it from ran it in an A2000 so yea the removable section is joined back together with Ribbon Cables. It's been years since I installed it but I did have issues with the daughter board, so I just recapped it and put it back in and it worked fine. I am running 3.1.4. I have not turned my A4K on for quite some time, but I just turned it on to make sure it still worked.

I can report that I just got a PIV for my Amiga 3000 with 3.2.1, and it works fine. The native modes could look a little better on my Dell 2001FP (there's vertical banding I can't get rid of) but overall it's fine. With that said, I can't wait for my ZZ9000, I have been very spoiled by RGB2HDMI, and looking at the soft VGA output from PIV is not ideal...

Still have this PIV and also a Retina Z3. Costa me a fortune back then. Stored away in a 3000T. EGS ran great in it

I had a PicassoIV in my A4000, and I remember clearly the force needed to get that huge double edge-connector into the vertical daughter board. I can completely believe that he had problems getting it in with a good connection between everything.

With the maxed out 060 systems I had built, some with the Picasso 4, through lots of experimentation, compatibility issues were either due to motherboard revision, rom version or expansion board manufacturer types. They just didn't like being in the same machine with each other, hence having multiple systems.

For a moment I thought you might be having the same issue as I. I have a Piccolo SD64 that only works in Z2 but not in Z3 mode in my A4000. I’m suspecting a faulty GAL chip at U714. I’ve got a replacement GAL but still need an adapter for my TL866.

Chris, I have discovered yesterday that there is a firmware update available for the P IV. Just looking into it and will brief you when I have it.

Another informative Vid Chris 👍🏻 I recently owned a PIV with the Audio add-on. Could not get it to work at all 😞 Not being seen in Diag Screen with 3.1 ROMs. Tried every jumpers on the card. Oh well. 🍻

I have my Cybergrafix 64/3D running ok with 3.2 ROMS, and a Picasso II. Interesting how this card has issues with some 3.2 ROMS.

You've got a replacement SIMM socket on the A4000 that stands the stick up vertically, and that means a card like the P-IV won't fit unless the standing SIMM is removed. I've got some SIMM sockets on my A4000 with broken tabs and would like to replace them. Do you (or anyone else here) know a vendor that carries the correct type SIMM socket for an A4000? One with metal latches would be nice, but not an absolute must. I would prefer a replacement that mounts the SIMM sticks at a lower profile angle though. Thanks!

Could I please ask where you were able to get a replacement SuperDMAC chip. I am looking for a A3000+ PCB from Hese and I cannot find the SuperDMAC anywhere. It seems to be unobtanium. I have found pretty much everything else NOS.

Not if you have A600 with Furia and PCMCIA lan card. 3.1.4 and it works with PCMCIA and full RAM.

Habe a PIV here, on 3.2 i have no Pic with Native mode, but on 23pin RGB there is original WB PIC, with drivers and 2 Monitors it works flawlessly. Q: Should it have a Pic on the PIV in Native mode?
