Wait a sec... I remember it as "Adventures of Moktar". Those are almost the same games. Just few differences

It was released with that title only in France.

I really want to love this game each time I launch it. In France, with Moktar as hero, it was a little bit easy to avoid it in 1992 as I hated Lagaf 'and his horrible song which was so successful. But Titus The Fox is so cute that it is more difficult not to love this game. But wonderful GFX, music and animation can't hide all the gameplay and design errors that ruin the game. Levels are sometimes frustrating labyrinths, the main character moves way too fast (a shame as slowness was often a problem with Amiga and ST games) making him difficult to move between platforms. And what is this idea to place him in front of the screen? We always have to progress step by step, what is just once again frustrating in a game in which scrolling is so fast. 320x200 screen makes you want to play using 60hz to have a more spread out display : Music keeps the good rythm but sadly the game is even faster, becoming completely unplayable. A real mess, the game is beautiful but IMO too fast and a too much frustrating.

You can slow down Tytus. He has two running modes. You just need to press a key (H if I remember well...?). It explains how to use it in the booklet.

@@themanaiacalgamer8451 Weird I didn't remember that. You're right. If you press F10, you divide speed by 2. It's a bit slow but if you boot with 60hz display, here you have a decent speed. It's sometimes very slow as you understand that Titus made the choice to display the game as fast as possible depending the number of sprites on screen, what's a little bit stupid. But yes, the game is far more playable with this settings :-)

@@iXien Cool! I admit I wouldn't have got past level 8 if it wasn't for this feature. As it's in the instructions I don't think it needs to be considered a cheat. :)

@@themanaiacalgamer8451 This feature looks like admitting failure from developers to optimize the code and find the correct balance between speed, design and number of elements on screen. Can you imagine real professionals like Nintendo that give you a slowdown feature to compensate level design flaws? 🤣

@@iXien Developers knew that gameplay had issues, but publisher didn't gave them enough time to fix them. Adding slow-down button was a quick fix done in 15 minutes. Titus was probably developed for PCs first and then ported to Amiga. On PC it has no speed issues and though scrolling isn't smooth it works better. Screen is static most of the time, but when you're getting close to screen edge, it will move by a lot. You can also stand still and after few seconds camera fill move to the direction you're looking. Not ideal, but at least you have control over camera so it shows the new area ahead. Someone at Titus liked this approach since they implemented it also in Prehistorik 2. They even added special key (5 numpad) that scrolled screen instantly and character had "look ahead" animation to show this. This was an odd choice, since vertical scrolling in Prehistorik 2 is smooth and huge tree level is even smooth auto-scroll boss fight.

You are probably used to the PC MS-DOS version, which has a limited scroll compared to the Amiga version. Same thing happens to The Blues Brothers. The PC MS-DOS version of Titus the Fox is the one currently sold by Interplay in digital platforms like Steam and GOG.

Graphycally fun, but the platforming system of this game makes a boring experience of it.
