I have been crocheting for 50 years and knitting for 30 years. However, I only began amigurumi projects three months ago. I am having such a great time on these. I have spent so much money on yarn and patterns for the toys.....and love every minute of it. I came across your videos and have watched many while taking notes. Your words are inspiring and so full of joy and information. As I continue on this new journey of amigurumi and your videos, I can't help but take a minute to thank you....thank you for all you teach the rest of us.

Thank you so much for all your videos. They are always uplifting, inspirational, educational and at times affirming. I am so glad I found you. As far as what you should do in regards to creating and selling goes...follow your heart. “I understand that love comprises all vocations...that love is everything and because it is eternal, embraces all times and places.” St. Therese. She wanted to do it all and then realized it was love that kept all vocations going. That is when she wanted to be love in the heart of the church. Whatever you do, do it with love and your life will be the prayer. Don’t let letting things go in the past make you nervous about the direction you now take. If your focus is love then you never quit. Each day, week, month, year may look different because love can be expressed in an infinite number of ways. The means may change, but being the prayer of love is constant. So take it day by day in whatever way you are led and do what you do so well...love. Maybe your fear of quitting is your patron saint urging you to be mindful of her example. She was the one who was given a basket of toys and told to pick one, but she wanted them all! I am sure she loves your amigurumi! LOL

I’m new to your channel, but I’ve been a knitter for years and thought I’d share my sock knitting method with you. I knit both socks at the same time (this alleviated “second sock Syndrome” for me). I use two sets of DPN’s and I will do, let’s say, ten rows (or whatever you want) on sock one, keeping track on a piece of paper, and then the same number of rows on sock two. I alternate back and forth working on each sock so that they are finished at relatively the same time. Once I figured this out, I’ve never looked back and it’s really been so much better (for me). Just thought I’d share this with you. As far as selling your finished products, keep in mind that you will need to find the “right” place for you to sell them because people can be funny. Even though people know how much time is put into a handmade item, most people don’t want to pay for that expertise. There’s a small percentage of people who appreciate it and are willing to pay a price to make it worthwhile. Until you find those people, or the right outlet to find those people, you may find it very frustrating, instead of rewarding. Again, just sharing what I’ve learned over the years, you can take it or leave it, but I thought I’d share. I hope you find my comment helpful. Thank you for sharing! 💜

Elise it was wonderful to watch your latest video filled with many things that are bringing you joy. I have been power watching your videos and I’ve caught the Amigurumi bug. It is bringing me great joy right now along with all of your videos and the resources you share. Thank you. I think switching gears and going back to selling knit/crotchet treasures is a wonderful idea. I think your talent for details and your love for your craft will blossom in what you create and that is always a winning combination. In addition as you mentioned it does bring you joy. And if the last few years have taught us nothing else is that we need to embrace each moment and fill our world and others around us with joy. It is infectious you know. Happy Creating!

Your toys are so beautiful...please sell them and share them with the world. I did my first craft fair yesterday and it was such an amazing experience. The joy I saw on kids faces (and adults too) made it so worthwhile. The craft show people were so nice and it felt good to be a part of a community of crafters. If you do sell them, please do videos!!! There are not enough videos of people selling amigurumi toys at shows. Love your channel and the lessons you teach. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Hi Elise. Lovely video today. I also love old book stores. Although it has been a while since I've been in one. The books you chose look very interesting. Your socks are fantastic! That is one thing I will never attempt, as I do not enjoy projects that take so long to finish. Your new design is looking lovely. I can't wait to see what she becomes. As far as selling your projects, I think its a great idea. Your work is extraordinary and I'm sure people would love to own one of them. Perhaps just make up a couple, post them, and go from there. Elise I enjoyed this video so much!! Love seeing what you're making and hearing about everything you're doing. I love old cemeteries, too!! This was a beautiful video and it made my day. Thank you so much. What's making me happy right now is repairing a knitted giraffe (from Susan B. Anderson's Itty Bitty Toys book) for my grandson. I made it for him out of wool when he was 2 years old and now he's almost six. Right before I left his house a week ago, he ran upstairs and came down with the poor thing, totally eaten by moths, and asked me to fix it. I turned it over in my hands and said, "Maybe I just need to make another one." He said, "No, please, Mimi, please fix THIS one." I was so touched that he still cared about that poor bedraggled, moth eaten toy! He knew right where it was and remembered it at the last minute, right before I had to leave! I am now back home and happily re-knitting the body in acrylic. I was able to salvage the head and neck, because they were done in rayon.

Bonjour Elise! Just a little sparkling gem … When I reflect on your videos, I always warm up at the way you manage to strike a lovely balance between project themed ones, reviews, crafts and current times (your episode on supporting Ukrainian creators was wonderful) or seasonal, discovering the world and places around you, your learning journeys … I haven’t commented much lately although I watched everything you filmed, time somehow slipped away from me, weirdly. But what fills my cup at the moment is starting to feel like I can make little, short term plans whilst still remaining safe. And of course, crafting and the promise of new life. Accidentally, Agatha Christie was “spotted” in Harrogate where I live, when she had disappeared and people were looking for her… how funny you bought that book, it did bring a smile on my face! Sending you loads of hugs from North Yorkshire!🐰

Hi Elise, I am from Hong Kong and recently saw your videos on my feed and started to watch them and subscribed to them. I have learnt so much from you about amirigumi, even though I thought I know quite a far bit, and I started making them again, honing the skills you talked about in your videos. I have pain in my thumb, my upper arm and my shoulder too. Crochet brings me a lot of joy and giving away what I make is very satisfying. But I understand your point about trying to be perfect about what we make and instead of enjoying our hobby it becomes stressful when you sell them. I think you need to look deep at why you stopped initially and if you have gotten over that to do it again. I am so inspired by your knitted bunnies and I really want to try it but I can’t knit to save my life. I tried and tried but I am never satisfied with the outcome. But now, maybe those cute bunnies, may be small enough for me to manage…..I am still thinking and when I will take the plunge. I want to say thank you for your videos, and you are right, there’s an audience out there to listen to you. Have a great day!

Thankyou Elise, that was lovely to watch. As for selling your creations vs not selling them, you need to do what brings you the most joy. If making them and creating their little personalities then sending them off to their forever homes gives you a full heart then do it. Just be kind to yourself and set it up so there isn’t any pressure or crazy deadlines. Perhaps you need to create a bunch of them with lots of love then when they are ready you can list them for sale. I found custom orders to be very stressful for me. But making toys the way you want, adding your own details and giving them their own story might be a better way to go. All the best for whatever you choose xx

Aaaaannnd, I totally get your love for visiting the cemetery. So serene and peaceful, and the landscaping is beautiful. I love to pray for the holy souls💜🙏🏼💜 I think you should definitely sell your beautiful toys! I’m enjoying making mice for friends because they get so excited about them. And making cute tags and packaging them is half the fun. The only thing is… I’m ready to start making other things… I went to a homestead conference this past weekend and someone was selling crocheted toys. One of the organizers is a parishioner at our church, and he said he’d love for me to have a table at next year’s conference, so I’m going to get started with some things! So excited for spring and planting and some new baby animals coming soon!! Love new beginnings 💜

My thoughts on selling finished toys is-If it were me, I would decide which toys I would list, and state, this is what is available, but I would not take special orders, because that’s what would stress me out! I stress over that stuff, but let me do whatever I choose, then sell if I choose! There’s probably loads of people who will scoop them up, then less worries, in my opinion! P S- really enjoy your videos! And I am currently trying to finish 2 big knitting projects so I can do amigurumi ( whatever pattern that makes me happy)! Instead of something I have committed to do for someone else- definitely a work of love, but ready to finish and move on!!! I think you can identify with that!

Love you socks. I'm a tight kniter. I'm currently working on the cotton bunny. Done head and I noticed my patch puckers. I cross my yarn in back Well Its not perfect, but its ok. I'm going to finish head. Working on ears now. I am going to make another on. Love the instructions.I'm the same way. Do what is in your heart. I love these books. I'm like you about reading, but I haven't read in a long time. I also love going to cozy bookstores.

Ohhhh boy, I enjoyed sitting with a hot tea watching this today! Your Norwegian socks are gorgeous. Norway/Sweden/Finland is on my dream list to visit. This just spurred it on even more. I'm sure you would make a lot of sales if you sold your toys again but like you, I flip flop back and forth on things I want to revisit. My humble opinion is if it excites you to do, then go for it. It sounds like it may have started causing you some stress in the past so using your gut as your barometer will be key. If "should" plays any part in it, then the answer is NO. " WANT" is the sign to move forward. Sorry, Elise, I'm relating so much to this that I have a lot to say. lol. My background is children's book illustration and I was very burned out. I still see illustrations that make me think I "should" get back into it. But then I sit and think about the stress involved and I know maybe it's just not right...at least not right now. There are soooo many avenues you can take with your work. Maybe just make/sell as the mood strikes instead of focusing on any set agenda. That way you have the freedom to pivot if something else piques your interest. And speaking of books!! Ohhhhh I'm a huge mystery buff and the woodland series looks magical! I need to get my hands on it! Thanks so much for sharing. I spend more time searching for a good book than actually reading! hahaha Big hugs xx

Lovely video, as always. I love cemetery walks. Next time we're in the Big Smoke (we live in a small town in the Blue Ridge Fiothills) we'll be making a trip to Memorial Gardens. I knit socks 2 at a time on two sets of needles. I've recently taken up crochet. After making a couple of dishrags (I usually knit them) I've started my first amigurumi thanks to your inspiring videos.

When I saw those soaks I was like wait a minute 😶 those look just like the native folkloric soaks from back home where I'm from, with all those folkloric shapes and colors.. And then You said they are Norwegian 💖 I guess it makes sense since Baltic States aren't far from Norway. 😌 Very very Beautiful work! You should be so proud with Yourself. I wish I could make a pair just like that, but I'm only a beginner and I think the soaks are the most difficult thing to make in da whole Knitting World. 🤣🙄 If You ever visit Northern Europe, don't forget to take Your soaks with You. Sure natives over there would be impressed with an American knitting soaks like that. 😏💖

I’m going to check out the Shady Hollow book, thank you. Another commenter suggested Miss Silver series and I will check that one out too, thanks for that suggestion also. These are a few of my mystery book suggestions: Meg Langslow series by Donna Andrews, Andy Carpenter series by David Rosenfelt, Bess Crawford series by Charles Todd, Joe Picket series by C.J. Box. I love the Maisie Dobbs series too. Bess Crawford series is similar only in that she is a WW 1 nurse, the other suggestions are in no way similar to Maisie Dobbs. I also have a recommendation for a little knitted bird (since I am a recent subscriber, this may have been mentioned before), it is called the Bluebird of Happiness by Sara Elizabeth Keller. It’s adorable and makes a great little ornament or depending on size of yarn/needles used, maybe a little bird friend for another larger knitted or crocheted friend. And, it’s a free pattern on Ravelry.

I would love to buy some of your crocheted dolls, but I’d want to preorder because like you I usually miss out on the ones that are already made. I retired one year ago & closed my my nurse practitioner clinic. My husband & I live to take trips for 4 to 5 days about every 3 to 4 months. About 3 weeks ago we were approx 2 hrs from Concord. We were near Boone NC. We may return taking my Mom. I’ve not been to Concord & the book store looks so interesting. Do you think it would be worth a 2 hr drive from Boone for a day trip. What other interesting down town sites should we see. My goal is to learn how to knit. I currently enjoy crochet. Amigurumi is something I like as well. Maybe you should revisit selling the animals. If you don’t enjoy just stop with no regrets wondering if you should have. Loved the video 😊

Concord is a nice little town, but I'm not sure it's worth the two hour drive. It is getting a nice makeover but at this point it's still really small. There's a lot more to do in Charlotte if you like the big city. But if you're looking for quaint, Boone, Lake Lure, Hendersonville and Black Mountain all have a lot to do. There is a wonderful yarn shop in downtown Black Mountain that is worth the drive for!! 🐑🐑🐑

Elise is the loose tension in the first version of your knitted sock because you were a crocheter first? I am having the same issue because my tension is naturally tighter on patterns that I have made before. Always! I often have to go up a hook size to accommodate pairs.
