I totally agree with you, we should be proud of our amigurumi! My first amigurumi was done by following JaydaInStitches on youtube. Her pocket pets kitty. I even modified the bottom part myself in a way I liked better. Unfortunately I had been making them inside out. I eventually learned which side was "correct". Either way I was very proud, just like you! Love your enthusiasm!

I enjoyed this video!!! I agree that crochet is incredibly therapeutic. It has also taught me to persevere - to start and finish and allow myself to take a break and revisit an unfinished project with fresh mind and perspective. The most important thing I’ve learned is that I can be imperfect. Progress not perfection! As a person in recovery c ocher has been so life changing.

You are so right about crocheting vs knitting and learning to hold two needles instead of one hook. I learned to crochet at the age of 13. Tried to teach myself to knit at the age of 50 but just couldn't get it. So I took a class and conquered it the first of five classes. The best lesson I learned that day was that "you don't have to hold your yarn a certain way to achieve the tension you want." I was having an issue trying to hold the yarn the same way as the book tried to teach it. And this was before we had all the access to youtube. I'm so thankful that I have the ability to do both now. Love watching your videos and will now try to do some amigurumi with your bunnies as the first toy! Thank you so much!! Yarn is on the way. (vintage)

Great question and answer video about my favorite subject, amigurumi. I know it's only an opinion, but Furls hooks are quite expensive and IMHO not worth it. The Odyssey which is the one I bought, was very heavy and not comfortable to use. I bought an entire set with silicone ergonomic handles for less than one hook on Amazon which are great for me. But that is not to say everyone would feel the same. When I started, I used Paintbox and Berroco Vintage yarns as you suggested and find they look good, work up good, and put less stress on the elbows and wrists. You suggestions are very helpful. Love your videos and your makes.

I am a crafter to my soul. I've done crafting projects before I knew that's what i was doing, lol. I've tried about every kind of craft, and i get bored easily, I guess.I re- learned the basics 2 yrs ago to crochet a scarf. Lol. Then I found Amigurumi and have crocheted 1 scarf, a temperature blanket, and dozens of Amigurumi. My first one was a baby Yoda by Club Crochet. It took me 2 days. I didn't know all the stitches.... how to invisible color change, make a magic circle, invisible decrease, invisible increase 😂 ya know pretty much all the stiches. I watched a lot of KZbin videos in those 2 days. I would watch a video, then do the stitches, watch another video, and do the next set of stitches throughout the making of my baby yoda, but I Did It. Does he have flaws, heck yes, but he's amazing non the less. 😊 I haven't stopped, and each one gets better.

@@EliseRoseCrochet I totally can relate! My grandmother had a great devotion to St. Thérèse..She was also my godmother and confirmation sponsor so we were very connected in a special way. I used to go to the florist a buy her a rose with my babysitting money because I knew she was always praying to St. Thérèse. She would pray to receive a specific color because she got roses a lot so she had to know if it was an answer or not by praying for a specific color🌹 My gramma was also the one who taught me to knit when I was 7. She passed away 26 years ago this August. My son Patrick was 2 months old, her youngest great grandchild (she had 16 kids) Patrick passed away in October of 2019 from brain cancer. He was really looking forward to meeting her and I know she was waiting for him. I learned SO much about my faith from her and wish I could ask her so many questions. I think of her every day. I'm not on Instagram but we pray the rosary every night as a family and it really is something that keeps us connected! I'm going to mail you my book. Great video! The lizard made me laugh, our cats bring up mice and snakes from the basement. Unfinished basement in the middle of the woods, we get creatures all the time. May have to start a new ami...while I do knit, I prefer crochet for amigurami. I have several Stacey Trock kits to still work on.

She designed under FreshStitches. It's been awhile since she was designing. But she used to offer bi-monthly kits. If you check out my episode 38, published on February 20, I show one of her designs that I made.

I love the bunny but how did you get the pink shade in the inner ears?

I just use a paintbrush and a little blush. You can also use watercolor, pastel chalks or every crayons! 💖

Thankyou for such an informational video packed with so many useful tips all in one place. I have a question, it may belong to a different video but here it is. I am pretty good with knitting or crocheting the toy. My shortcoming is how to make the faces cute ? Mine either turn out scary looking or just plain blah. All that work and I am not happy with the end result. I would love some tips from you on this topic.

I had to laugh when you shared the story about your cat and the lizard. We had an old Tom cat who used to bring all sorts of things into the house. This was over 50 years ago. My mother told me these stories. He once while she was sitting toss a rat into her lap then left out the window, his job was done. The rat 🐀 chose to wake up at that moment, which didn't please my mother, who had to chase it out of the house with a broom. Our cat didn't show up for 2 days. He did other things like that. I miss him.

ALL Hobby Lobby Yarns are 30% off every other week. I check on line to see if the yarns are reduced in price before shopping in person. Never shop from their website for the best deals are in store because the shipping charges raise the price. ALSO as a side note... if you're looking for scrapbook making supplies or paper in general, this sale is 50% off in store every other week but it's the opposite week the yarns are on sale.
@EliseRoseCrochet3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for that information! Very helpful to know. I didn't realize that the yarn was on sale every other week. Do you have a good Hobby Lobby yarn that you like for amigurumi? I've had a lot of people request that information and I would love to try one and see how it works! Thanks so much for the great tips!!! 🌻

@@EliseRoseCrochet Hello Elise, so glad my info is helpful. Hobby Lobby is my go to yarn store, especially when it's a 30% off week. My choice for acrylic 3ply yarn is "I LOVE This Yarn" Sports Weight 230 yrds for $2.29 30% at $1.63 and for acrylic 4ply yarn is "I Love This Yarn" 252 yards for $4.99 reg 30% at $3.52, "I Love This Cotton Yarn" 4ply, 180 yards for $3.79 reg 30% at $2.68. I think they are good deals. Michael wil only give you 20% deasl on their sales and one 40% off deal on 1 skein of yarn with coupon. Hobby Lobby gives 30% off on every skein purchased when it's a sale week. My absolute favorite cotton yarn for dolls skin is "Sinfonia" a sport weight, 218 yards for $6.49reg..30% off is $4.56. I use the colors Khaki for dark skins and Cream for light skin. It's my favorite for is texture, it's smooth, glides over the hook and it doesn't split which is a plus. The only draw back is Hobby Lobby only sales it in 8 shades. My second favorite yarn, not sold at Hobby Lobby is a #3 cotton thread yarn by Aunt Lydia's, a 150 yard ball, in a Natural shade. It's the thickness of the cotton thread family. I can only find it at Amazon for $6.26 but a much better deal at Joanna's Fabric for $2.79 a ball. I use it for the slim or Barbie type dolls.

Your lizard story had me in tears I was laughing so hard. I have had my cats over the years bring me all kinds of presents. A two foot long snake was the worst and my husband had to catch it and take it back out side when he came home from work LOL
@EliseRoseCrochet3 жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness!!!!! I am not going to let Olive know that she could bring a snake in here. I'm not sure what I would do! My husband is absolutely terrified of snakes and I can only imagine the absolute debacle that situation would devolve into!! Lol! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story!!!! Our kitty cat is definitely a lot of entertainment around here! 💓🍄🌻

I’m not sure if it was answered as I just started watching (I plan on watching this whole video) but how legal is it to sell like a Taylor swift amigurumi doll??
@EliseRoseCrochet Жыл бұрын
Hmmmm, I'm not sure. I would be very careful listing something like that on Etsy. I would think it's ok if you sell to a friend or someone you know, but you might want to Google the laws around licensed characters! ❤️

I hope it's not too late to ask a question. I'm so confused about how firmly I must stuff crocheted amigurumi. Everybody seems to have a different idea.
@EliseRoseCrochet3 жыл бұрын
You can check out my video How to Crochet Amigurumi here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4TdeptriLSibJo I talk a whole lot about stuffing, but the short version is that you need to overstuff amigurumi because they will deflate over time. The only place you don't want to stuff is the top of the arms so they don't stick out. Or if you want your toys to sit, don't stuff the tops of the legs either. Hope that helps! 🌻🍄💓
